Great Resource on my Intuitive Eating Journey

By Jess Tessem - Jul 19 2019
Read more
I found Kirsten’s podcast near the beginning of my intuitive eating journey and it has been so helpful! I’m currently reading “Intuitive Eating” and working my way through “The Intuitive Eating Workbook” and it’s still kind of scary and confusing and new, so Kirsten’s podcast has been such a great way to expand my understanding of Intuitive Eating principles, especially in my busy day when I don’t always have time to stop and read and do the workbook. She has fantastic guests and really substantial conversations and it’s been a terrific resource for me in my journey.

Great job!

Rank #5: EP16 - Why Weight Loss Won't Actually Make You Happy with Mary Jelkovsky

Podcast cover
Read more
For Episode 16, I'm chatting with Mary Jelkovsksy from @maryscupofteaa about how weight loss doesn't actually results in long term happiness. We also dig into some of the ways weight loss can appear to make people happier. Find Mary on Instagram or YouTube as @maryscupofteaa or on her website maryscupoftea.com.

Here's some information about Mary from Mary:

Hi, I’m Mary! I’m a former bikini fitness model and competitor turned self-love and confidence coach. I used to spend endless time, energy, and money on diet and exercise programs thinking that I'd like myself more if I was thinner/fitter/slimmer. The more weight I lost, the more my mental health suffered, but I thought it was worth it because I was one of 96% of women in the world who was desperately unhappy with my appearance. I realized that no matter what I looked like, the feeling of “I’m not good enough” would remain so long as I was chasing society’s unrealistic beauty ideals.

After overcoming my eating disorder, soul searchin’ and healing, I started my online platform Mary’s Cup of Tea, to inspire you to find unconditional self-love and lead your life with confidence. Now, I travel to beautiful places and eat yummy foods while sharing my heart with you through my writings, videos, and coaching programs.

Jes burst onto the body positivity scene when she created her own ads mocking Abercrombie & Fitch for discriminating against all body types—a move that landed her on the Today Show and garnered a loyal following for her raw, honest, and attitude - filled blog missives. When not writing, Jes spends her time speaking around the world, working with plus size clothing companies, organizing body liberation events, taking pictures in her underwear and attempting to convince her cats that they like to wear bow ties.
