Never too long and makes me feel warm!!

Katie’s podcast, Let it Out, was the third podcast I ever listened to and the first I listened to that is hosted by a fellow woman! (And fellow only child). I LOVE the long form interview style and have learned so much from Katie and her guests about self reflection and care, adventuring, and healing from my ED. This podcast, along with her and Serena’s other pod, Spiraling (which is freaking awesome), helps me learn and approach my anxiety and mental health with constructive tools. Listening to this podcast is like listening to conversations with friends while also expanding your mind. I love longform podcasts and to those that don’t, I say “listen in phases!!” Finally, Katie helped inspire me to start my own podcast with a dear friend and I didn’t even take her course! 💙

Rank #1: 212 | Lacy Phillips of Free & Native on Situational Magnetism, Subconscious Beliefs, Body Image, Style, Authenticity + much more

A few months ago I was introduced to Free & Native's Lacy Phillips through my friend Katie. Over dinner one night Katie mentioned a workshop she’d recently attended in New York led by Lacy. After hearing about her experience, I was intrigued, yet slightly apprehensive because after years of obsession and addiction to all things personal-growth, spirituality, and manifestation I was at a point where I was exhausted by content even in the vicinity of self-help. Despite my trepidation I checked out Free & Native and few clicks and several hours later, I was hooked. Luckily, Lacy’s work is anti-self help while being the most helpful content I’ve stumbled upon in recent years. From her style and aesthetic to her message and wisdom, her work became very meaningful to me in the weeks leading up to this interview so I was a bit nervous to meet her in person when it finally arrived. Fortunately, Lacy was so warm and welcoming putting me at ease the second I walked into her Brooklyn apartment. We sipped a tea infusion she made us (She's also an herbalist) and chatted for hours about everything from bodies and food to style and design to relationships and finding partnership to authenticity, envy, feeling feelings, labels, boundaries, and of course debunking myths about manifestation. She’s the real deal; kind, genuine, smart, articulate, and beautiful. I loved this episode.

I’m a huge fan of all things simple, clean and eco-friendly. That’s why when I found Branch Basics it was exactly what I was looking for in cleaning products. They have a single multi-purpose concentrate that makes cleaning simple, affordable and sustainable. All of the products use just one solution mixed with different amounts of water which makes it both easy and significantly less expensive than similar single-use products. Plus I only have to keep one cleaning solution (which saves tons of space). Branch Basics is great for tackling any cleaning job around the house, from dishes to dirty laundry.

Rank #2: 230 | Loneliness, Manifesting, Body Image, Law-of- Attraction, and Abundance with Jess Lively

I’ve known Jess Lively for years, we both grew up in Michigan, and our paths overlapped there a few years ago. When we were both living there in 2016 we went to go see an Elizabeth Gilbert lecture about her book Big Magic and after over tacos we chatted for hours. Since then Jess has traveled all over the world in her own very Eat Pray Love-esque adventure and her life as changed so much. On that day we were both in an interesting places and I somehow shared with her off hand about Abraham Hicks over lunch, Jess ended up immersing herself in their work and implementing their concepts, along with many other teachers around the concept of law of attraction, manifestation, neuroscience, consciousness, and much more. She has  a unique  skill to distill heady esoteric content into practical terms. Most recently she's taken all of her work and created C-School, a live school in Australia where she now lives but is launching online this week. In this episode we talked about Death, loneliness, fear of not having enough time, body image and food, the law of attraction, time scarcity and time abundance, plus so much more. It was a different conversation than anything I was expecting and I loved every second.

It's a milestone for the WWRadio, this is episode number 40! Who better to bring us into the forties than my mentor and guru, the one and only Gabrielle Bernstein. If you've spent any time in Wonderland at all you already know that Gabby is a beyond successful author, speaker, entrepreneur, visionary, Kundalini and yoga teacher who is legit changing the world. Her work is a direct reflection of the authentic transformational work she's done on herself and her ability to teach others to implement these principles to change their lives as well. She is obviously a huge inspiration to me & I'm thrilled to share my conversation with her with Wonderland. She is everything she appears to be and more. If you're new to Gabby she has so much to offer you! Her third book, Miracles Now is essentially a "Gabby Bernstein Greatest Hits Album." Her previous 3 books have been best sellers & are mainstays on my self. Gabby is an amazing writer, but what she loves doing is speaking! You must see her lecture, either check out her videos or check out her book tour because she may be coming your way. I'm so excited for you to get a taste of Gabby if you're new or get a tune up of all things Gabby if you're a Gabby connoisseur as I am. In this conversation I asked what I'd been dying to ask Gabby as well as questions sent in by you. Enjoy every moment of this very special podcast episode I adore.

I've been following Rachel's Instagram and drooling over her recipes and food styling for years, so when she was suggested as a guest by multiple listeners I knew I wanted to have podcast a conversation with her. One of the stranger things about hosting this podcast is that I get to invite myself into the homes and offices of people I've never met before. Rachel was chill, welcoming, and even sent me home with a delicious treat--a recipe she'd created that day.  Not only is she a natural in the kitchen, she is kind, open to share, smart, and funny which you'll hear throughout our two hour tangential conversation which coved everything from changes in social media to relationships to cooking. We spoke about how she being unexpectedly fired from her job which ended up leading to her successfully make a career out of her passion for healthy recipe development and love of desserts. We talk about slowing down, the importance of presence, her start in blogging, how she made it her career, changes in Instagram,  discipline vs. perfectionism, lessons from entrepreneurship, working from home,  how her relationship to food and her body has evolved over the years, and much more. Today’s WWRadio guest, Tara Stiles, has been my idol since I started practicing yoga in a high school gym class. She inspired me to take my yoga practice off of the mat, taught me that yoga was for everyone, and inspired me to become a teacher. Through her yoga  videos, easy yet creative recipes, books, dvds, and support she has been like a yoga big sister and friend to me. A fellow Midwesterner, I connect with her so deeply and I know you will too. In today’s conversation we get into everything from her early ballet and modeling career, how she found yoga, how she started her own business, and advice for yogis and entrepreneurs. She explains how yoga can be effective for weight-loss as well as so many concepts on how to find the ease in your life. She so smart, knowledgeable, and down-to-earth.

My favorite lines & nuggets of wisdom: YEP THEY’RE TWEETABLES…Just click right on ‘em!

“Just bend your knees anyone can touch their toes.”

“Yoga’s not about being flexible, it’s about making space for yourself.”

“Trusting your intuition will lead to a healthy capable life.”

“Yoga exists in all of us why do we need to look the same way when we do it?”

TIP: In regards to relationships, when working with your partner be sure to define clear roles. Know who is doing what and what you are each comfortable with. Learn that as women become the powerful business people it is okay for you to have your smart guy there in a supporting role.

If you’re going to work together, still act like a company and define clear roles and turn it off at night. It’s important to set priorities especially when you’re so passionate about your business.

I am psyched about today’s episode of The Wellness Wonderland Radio, where every week I share interviews with wellness extraordinaires. Today I have the amazing health coach Quinn Asteak. She is not only an amazing chef and holistic health coach, but also half of the dynamic kitchen duo {Healthy} Cooking Camp with Robyn + Quinn.

In our wonderful conversation, Quinn and I talk everything from transitioning careers to favorite veggies to staple recipes to acne and self-care at it’s finest.

The one quote (or as we like to call them, tweetable nuggets) that really stuck out to me was this…She shared her morning practice that can be applied to anything from that extra weight around your belly you just can’t shake or a stubborn new blemish on your face before a big event. Instead of hating it (ie. beating yourself up when you see it in the mirror or picking at it)  she says give some love to it. This is what she says to that stubborn stuff most people resent. She places her hands on her belly & gives it love saying:

Isn’t that a great one? Tweet that! If you have any additional questions for Quinn, post them below and she’ll be answering your questions!

She even left us her Detox Tea recipe she mentions in the podcast!  & her spinach oats recipe I can’t get enough of right now!

-We talk how some recipes we can just eat over & over like her Easy Lemon Red Lentil Soup ( a fav of Gabrielle Bernstein)

-She mentions this {Healthy} Cooking Camp spring salad. This slim-down spring detox salad has me drooling, it looks so nourishing and yummy!

-We honestly discuss how mindful eating can be hard. Here’s the link to Robyn’s amazing blog post on it that I mention & my post on the eating awareness guidelines we had to follow in my yoga teacher training visualized.

Gabrielle Bernstein has been my friend and mentor for over 4 years now. She's the real deal, helping people all over the world with her books and lectures, but the thing I admire most about Gabby is how much she truly loves what she does. Her passion for her work is what's most inspiring to me. I hope she never stops writing and creating and I really don't think she will. This book The Universe Has Your Back (out today!) is super timely with everything going on in the world. There's a worldly need for growth beyond our own personal development onto how we're going to navigate the tumultuous times we're living in. In today's episode Gabby talks about why this book was the most challenging to write and took double the amount of time than her pervious books, where the idea for the book came from, and how this book is different from her previous books. Enjoy my candid conversation with Gabby.

Rank #12: 200 | Sahara Rose Ketabi on Ayurveda, Writing, Purpose and Dharma, Manifestation, Meeting Deepak Chopra + more

Two-hundred episodes of this podcast seems like a huge milestone I'm pretty proud of. We've discussed so much on this podcast including sex and using vaginal jade eggs, our periods, birth control and it's impacts on the body.  We've discussed relationships including everything from dating, to friendship to  parenting, to  motherhood to divorce. We've talked about wellness all over the spectrum including, aging, beauty, fitness,  meditation, yoga as well as cooking. We've covered body image at length including intuitive eating  and emotional eating. We've discussed mental wellness including the importance of community. We've also spoken about creativity with actors, actresses, writers, directors, musicians, and comedians. This episode covers a little bit of all of those topics. This week's conversation with guest Sahara Rose is a long one, yet I never wanted it to end (we even had to take a bathroom break in the middle). We take a deep dive intro her wellness speciality: Ayurveda (she literally wrote the Idiot's Guide to Ayurveda), food as healing medicine, eating disorders and control related to them, the connection with bodies, creativity, writing a book, and the publishing process. She fully breaks down Ayurveda is, including what doshas are, her top Ayurveda tips utilizing it in daily life, dharma, how chakras connect to it, shamanic shaking, tongue-scraping and more. This episode is robust and packed with ancient wisdom that Sarah has modernized brilliantly. Her advice on family is one of the best answers I've gotten on that subject  and she tells a magical story of a meaningful coincidence that changed her life and mine once I heard her tell it. I love this episode and the two-hundred that have preceded it. Thank you so much for listening.

I interviewed her for this episode in her home this summer with her cat Trudy hanging out with us too. In this episode you're join us for a realtime long girl chat. As all good long conversations this one goes places we never expected. While Zoë does share her passion behind her work and how she got into her work that centers around sex education and sexuality we also talk about other unrelated topics like dealing with death of a parent at a young age, why it's good to share things you are scared to share, modern relationships and what it means to communicate with your partner(s), body image when it comes to dating, the difference between calling someone out and calling someone in... so many good parts to this longer episode today. So with that I'll let you get to listening....

Today's episode is with the very wise Dr. Christiane Northrup. She's an OBGYN who has been the leader in holistic female health since the early 1990s. She's been featured on Oprah several times and her many best selling books have helped shift people's approach to health (like the bigger picture 'health' that expands beyond the physical), especially for women. For long-time pod listeners you may remember that I interviewed her daughter Kate Northrup as one of my first guests on the show. Dr. Northrup is so wise and gives such interesting information about sex, pleasure, and relationships as well as so much more in this episode. In our conversation we cover her background and her past work, why it has been so important and how that has led her to the work she is doing now and her latest book she wrote. We cover her wisdom gained on 'getting older', the changes in the medicine and wellness industry, the importance of embracing sexuality, the interconnectedness (in our bodies and beyond). She lists so many good resources in this episode, especially books, so be sure to check out the show notes below. If you have any questions for Dr. Northrup or myself tweet at us or reach out to us in the Facebook Group here.

Rank #15: 185 | NEW Isabel Foxen Duke on Sanity Around Food, Surrender, Diet Culture, Fat Phobia as a Social Justice Concept + much more

Podcast cover
Read more

A few years ago I was a mess around food and my body. My entire life revolved around what I was eating next. If I wasn't preoccupied with my next meal, I was thinking about what I'd eaten earlier and what that meant for what or how much I'd allow myself to eat later. On the rare occasion I wasn't thinking about food, googling gluten-free-dairy-free recipes, or checking out another vegan restaurant's menu I was thinking about my body and how I was terrified of it changing in a way I wasn't comfortable with. I'm embarrassed to admit all of this but that was my internal reality until I found the work of today's repeat guest Isabel Foxen Duke. Isabel showed me there's another way to live. She taught me why I and so many people fall into an obsession with thinness and therefore dieting and consequently food, all as a result of thinness as a standard of beauty in our culture and the pervasive diet culture that has created. She taught me about fat phobia and how I had internalized it. She taught me about intuitive eating and deconstructing my diet mentality to listen to my body's hunger and fullness signals. She taught me about emotional eating and how it's not wrong, rather it is merely a coping mechanism and a response to years of deprivation with food. She taught me to diversity my hobbies away from wellness alone and to instead focus my attention on my career, creativity, and relationships. Most of all, she helped my to finally stop fighting food and work on making my life as a whole really beautiful, not just my body. We talk about all this and more in today's very long, robust episode. As I mentioned in the inro, I took Isabel's flagship program in 2014 and it honestly really helped me. She's launching it again and that means her free video training series is available for a while so watch those videos here  to see what you think. And enjoy this episode with my friend and mentor IFD.

I've been recording this podcast in my bedroom since 2013. I've recorded over 150 hours of conversation, connected with people all over the world, and made real life friends through my guests and listeners. I've gleaned an abundance of wisdom from the diverse group of guests I've had the opportunity to uninterruptedly speak with people I deeply admire and respect, getting to ask them anything I was curious about, an opportunity I don't take for granted. At 22 years old, freshly out of college I never would have imaged how much a purely creative passion project would mean to me almost four years later or how it would have grown. I feel like a completely different person now at 26 to who I was back then when I started but one thing remains, my favorite movie is still an indie movie my college boyfriend showed me in 2010 called HappyThankYouMorePlease. This film reminded, me even if only for that hour and forty minutes, that with gratitude the universe is infinitely abundant. I told everyone about the movie and I re-watched it so often that the dvd (remember those?) my boyfriend gave me wore out. Two years later, probably sick of rewatching the same movie on repeat he showed me a new movie called Liberal Arts he claimed I'd like equally as much since it had the same writer, director, and star as the first movie I fell in love with. He was right. I fell hard for Liberal Arts too. This film was timely since we'd just graduated from college and were wrestling with the concept of adulthood which Liberal Arts directly and beautifully tackles. These movies led me to explore their creator the man both in front and behind the camera: Josh Radnor. I realized Josh was was a really famous guy from starring in the hit sitcom How I Met Your Mother, I also learned he was midwestern like me, a meditator like me, and a deeply self-aware, wise, and kind human being. I became as fascinated with him as a person as I was by his work. He inspired me, he made me think about things like religion, creativity, and writing in a new way and above all his insight inspired me to want to be better at being myself and expressing myself creatively. Whenever anyone would ask who my dream podcast guest would be I would say Josh, not knowing the slightest how I could get a hold of him or make that happen. It seemed like a pipe dream, but long story short it happened and today you're hearing my conversations with one of my favorite people, someone whose work is super meaningful to me and above all someone from what I can tell is genuinely kind, generous, wise and woke. Enjoy my dream come true of a conversation with Josh Radnor.

Who better to kick off season 3 of WWRadio than today's radically authentic guest. She brings out my own raw insights on our relationship with food and body image. Isabel Foxen Duke is only our second repeat guest and an emotional freedom from food extraordinaire and coach, Isabel stopped by Wonderland on episode 009 to shed light on real techniques on how to release toxic relationships to food and tell her personal food journey that led her to the work she does with women today. Most of us have become lint rollers picking up some pretty nasty thought patterns around food, whether we realize it or not. I challenge you to own it first and then listen to today's episode with an open mind about changing that.

We discuss this in our first Podcast together but the first step to freedom from emotional attachment to food and becoming what Ellyn Satter calls a 'normal eater' is to get honest about where you are. In this conversation we'll help you figure out exactly where that is. Listen to the whole thing, it's really eye opening and packed with info so you might want to listen multiple times to really let is soak in. We go really high level in this podcast so jump back to listen to our first episode together to get more info about Isabel and her personal story in episode 009. & I've also interviewed her multiple times & all those links are below as well.

If any of these things we spoke about resonate with you click here to sign up for her FREE video training series to go deep into her concepts.

When I first moved to NYC I kept hearing about the place in Soho--'I'd love,' I dragged my feet on checking it out, overwhelmed by the laundry list of places in the city, until one night I found myself there. My friend Nicole of Splendid Spoon hosted a dream decoding workshop at the space. As soon as I entered the space for the event I instantly understood why it had been recomended to me countless times. Eventually I figured out the space was owned by shaman and healer Deborah Hanekamp aka Mama Medicine and started following her work as well. It wasn't until I experienced one of her medicine readings after it was given to me as a gift that I fully understood her magic. Deborah is yes a talented healer with a beautiful aesthetic, but also a funny, grounded, extremely smart business woman, mother, and friend. I loved getting to hear her full, long story in this episode.

I love this brand because not only are their products all-natural and vagina-friendly that put women’s bodies first, but they also give 10% of their profits to women’s healthcare organizations. Right now, my listeners can get 20% off their first one-time order and free shipping when you sign-up at sustainnatural.com and use the code LET IT OUT at checkout.
