23: Election Resilience (w/Hala Khouri, Lissa Rankin, and Tara Stiles)

When we started this project six months ago, we could feel the cliff-edge of the election on the horizon. We could sense that our footholds of community, reasonable conversation, and consensus reality were eroding. As veterans of spirituality and wellness spaces, we’ve always known that the reality has never lived up to the hype. But the intensification of conspirituality themes, incubating during lockdown into the peak fever-state of QAnon, has made this period especially demoralizing. What do we need now, on the eve of uncertainty? What will we need going forward?

This week, we take some time to explore thoughts and feelings about this menacing week, and how we’re contemplating and committing to the long haul through our work, relationships, and self-care. We’re joined by special guests Hala Khouri, Tara Stiles, and Lissa Rankin, who all offer their wisdom.

Surprising Lessons From Lockdown With Tara Stiles

Play
Read more
In this week’s episode, I’m super excited to be speaking with Tara Stiles.

Tara is the founder of Strala Yoga, a revolutionary approach to moving, being and healing. Strala is practiced in more than 100 countries, with 1000’s of guides leading classes across the world. Tara is also the author of a number of bestselling books through Hay House, including Strala Yoga and Make Your Own Rules Diet.

Tara became a mum a few years ago so I really wanted to talk about how she’s transitioned from running a hugely successful, international business into life as a mother to three-year-old, Daisy. We talk about how Tara has managed to slow down and how she now manages life and business as it continues to grow and expand.

We also speak a bit about her experiences of lockdown – Tara is full of energy and so I was curious to hear how the last few months had been for her. And of course, we talk about how to practice yoga with your children. Tara shares some great tips around how to keep it fun and let them be in the practice.

I think you’re going to love hearing from Tara in this episode. For the full show notes, head over to www.motherkind.co

#96: Tara Stiles of Strala Yoga on Listening, Learning and Being Better Humans

Play
Read more

Tara Stiles is the founder of Strala Yoga. It would have been lovely if all we wanted to talk about was yoga, but in light of the twin crises of Covid and racial injustice,we wanted to dig a little deeper.  We wellness folk do tend to feel things a bit more, so it’s great to talk with another feeler. She talks about how we can continue to have difficult conversations, having an open mind for yoga, how listening and learning is better than silently not participating, and the problems the wellness industry has created for itself. We hope this conversation brings a new perspective to anyone listening.

Tara talks about...

  • The two pandemics we’re facing
  • What Tara’s community is looking like now
  • Using your platform to use your voice
  • Making yoga unique and your own
  • Evolving as a yoga teacher
  • The gatekeeping of yoga purists
  • The problems with the wellness industry

Growing with Tara Stiles - Part 2

Play
Read more

This week, in the 2nd part of my incredible conversation with Tara Stiles, we go deeper and explore Strala Yoga roots, the challenges of being a mom, entrepreneur, and woman of success.

Tara graciously speaks of her truth as a boss and creator and takes us on a journey of vulnerability and honesty with great courage.

It is clear, that Tara is intentional in her work, parenting, and direction.  And, her awareness of how things are evolving continues to grow within and reminds each of us to be willing to "see" the moment and move forward with clarity, willingness to grow, and grow others who look to us for guidance..

Whether you are an author, yoga leader, traveler, creator, altruist, businesswoman, mom, or boss.. as Tara is.. you have your own journey, yet "success leaves clues" along the way.  And, we all have a lifetime of growth ahead of us.

QUESTION OF THE WEEK:
*******What challenges you the most in your business?  What 1st steps can YOU take to release the tension around that?*****

REMEMBER:
International Yoga Day is coming up on the 21st of June ( yes, it’s also father’s day, this year), so get out there and enjoy yoga with the whole family, come back to yourself and center body and alignment with the world.

102: Slow Down To See The Blueprint Inside You | Business On Your Terms – TARA STILES

Play
Read more

Tara Stiles (@tarastiles) has had a huge impact on my life and career ever since the day I walked into Strala, her yoga studio in Soho, in 2012. Tara is who I got my yoga teacher training certification with, and I was lucky to make her a heart bowl breakfast and even share a recipe in “Make your own rules cookbook.”

Tara Stiles is one of the first people to start sharing yoga videos on YouTube, a bestselling author, and founder of a global yoga training business that’s radically different.

There is presence, ease and quiet wisdom about Tara, and I’m excited to share this business-focused conversation to you.

In this episode, we cover:

  • Why it’s important to carve your own path in business instead of a cookie cutter approach
  • How working at a Pizza Hut and doing ballet led Tara to yoga
  • Tara’s business trajectory and current business model of Strala Yoga
  • How she became one of the first yoga teachers on YouTube in 2007
  • How to overcome criticism and stand for what you believe in
  • How to make burnout impossible
  • Path of you over path of yoga
  • Trusting the unknown
  • Why to “find your thing” as a conscious entrepreneur, it’s important to release the need to “have a thing”
  • Why Tara said no to venture capital
  • The trap of social media and how to stay true to yourself
  • Social media as an open channel to being of service
