2022 was not the year I expected. It was, quite honestly, riddled with failures from my perspective.
However, what’s so special about this year is I don’t feel hopeless about those failures. I’ve learned why I failed and they’ve brought me closer to my goals than I’ve ever been before.
If you’re feeling down about how this year went, give this podcast a listen. I share what this year was like for me, what I want in 2023, what happened this month, and give you permission to skip the new years goal setting if you want to.

When you make it known to yourself and your brain that binging is, in fact, still allowed, it makes you more willing to try other self-regulating tactics first.
When you tell yourself it's either binge or pause, it feels much more pressuring and forceful which can push people into just binging.
I explain much more in this episode.

Emotional eating is something normal eaters do. Yet I see so many people that struggle with bulimia and binge eating feel like an absolute failure if they emotionally eat. They associate it with their behaviors, see it as a gateway to binging or not aligning with their idea of "perfect eating", and let it almost drive more binging and compensatory behaviors.
Emotional eating shouldn't be demonized or seen as incorrect. The only concern should be if you only use food to cope with any emotion, positive or negative. Food is a way we bond, celebrate, mourn, and console. It can even be a good way to deal. But if you're only relying on food to bring you back down or up in life, it creates more problems.
It may make you overly focused on food, create cycles of binging and purging, and leave you feeling like the only way to handle anything is through food when there are many viable, and more effective, ways to handle stress and other emotions.
Emotional eating is a part of a full life, but it's not the only life.
Today's episode covers this topic. Listen if you feel guilty every time you emotionally eat. It may dispel some of your preconceived notions and help you navigate when and when not to emotionally eat.

Should you stop purging before attempting to address binging? Let me first clarify by saying purging of any kind should never be utilized as a tool. It has severe health consequences and keeps you stuck in the cycle of bulimia for various reasons. However, there are multiple ways to recover.
For me, I addressed the binging first. Committing became more important after I stopped binging as more urges arose to purge on my intuitive eating journey. The reason addressed the binging first was simply because I was not willing or in a place to be ready to give up purging.
In hindsight, I could have and should have given up purging as soon as possible as it did perpetuate the cycle. However, it worked out regardless. In today's episode, we discuss what you want to consider when addressing both challenges, the benefits of addressing purging first, and if you are unwilling to go there yet.
Plus I also give you some life updates. :)

After experiencing a lack of trust in myself this past week I wanted to discuss that personal story on the podcast. If you struggle with bulimia you likely also struggle to trust yourself with many things. This is one of the reasons it's so hard to recover since trust is the foundation you need in order to take action that helps you make progress and create that confidence that builds trust. On the podcast, I talk about how you can think of trust differently and grant trust now.
