108. The Best Way To Stay Motivated Every Day

So I’ve been coaching my girlfriend, Dana, on how to make friends lately. She recently started a new job, and with the move to LA, she’s had to re-adjust her social circle and start meeting new people. It’s giving me flashbacks to my old coaching days, where we’ll be out at an event, and I’ll tell her to go approach someone and how to start a conversation LOL. It’s easy for some and harder for others, depending upon how social or “popular” you were growing up. The funny thing is, even though those grade-school days are long behind us, we still carry a lot of baggage into our identity today. It can do some serious damage to our self-esteem, thinking that we deserve less than ideal behaviours from others. We put ‘glass-ceilings’ on to what we think we’re worthy of. One thing that I always keep coming back to, and hammer home is: “It’s never your identity, it’s always your strategy” Part of that strategy is interrupting negative thoughts. Like “never being the cool kid” or thinking “these people are better than me”. Anything that leads to unproductive behaviour. So you’ll need some mindfulness to interrupt those thoughts and stop them in their tracks. But to actually fix these problems, it’s important to start building social momentum! It’s not going to fall into your lap organically. We don’t have classrooms where it’s easy to socialize with friends and create important shared experiences anymore. And you know, we’re the average of our 5 closest friends. The quality of our relationships plays a big role in our overall quality of life. Getting into the flow of working in your zone of genius… Some people get FOMO (fear of missing out) when they see others living really cool lifestyles and doing what they were meant to do. And then they look at their life and have a hopeless feeling that they’re never going to get to where they wanna be. BUT… Fear not! Because it really comes down to one thing. Well… Maybe two (if we’re gonna get technical). Let’s go back to the 2008 recession. Think about how hard it would have been to start a successful business back then. At that time, Elon Musk got $180M from the PayPal acquisition. And instead of taking some time off, living on a beach somewhere for a year… Waiting for the whole ‘recession storm’ to blow over... He invested ALL of his $180M into 3 new companies: $100M into SpaceX$70M into Tesla &amp; $10M into Solarcity He literally invested everything he had and had to borrow rent money from his friends &amp; family. What a legend. I also have clients that are financial planners who are losing millions of dollars in the marketplace every day… Its shown me the extreme levels of staying cool under pressure up so you can end up winning on the other side of the coin. What I’ve learned is you have to take some risks, play with fire, and LEARN when you “fail”. Make it a habit. And continually be growing. Millions of YouTube views… Hundred-thousand fans… Massive name in the industry… Gone. One day CNN is quoting me in articles about relationship advice… And the next no one knows who I am. I had to drop the name Brad Branson... and become Wade Alters. Re-build the brand... get my fans back... crush it again… That’s all I was thinking about. Did you know that Jeff Bezos (Amazon CEO) says the #1 sign of HIGH intelligence is the willingness to be open-minded &amp; challenge your own way of thinking? He only focuses on where his business should be 2-3 years from now. Only thinking about the future. Not worrying on the day-to-day operations of Amazon. And he’s training his senior management to only think 2-3 years from now. It’s similar to the framework I use to I delegate any work that doesn’t meet my hourly rate ($500/hour). That includes things like hiring a maid, employees, and using healthy meal services so I don’t have to cook. There’s major similarities where we both focus our time on creating the best future we can for the business. And THAT is one of the biggest strengths of an entrepreneur: being a visionary. Letting go of all judgements, criticisms and what’s “realistic”. People can get held down by being “realistic”. They lose the creativity of how they can change the world. Yo, how badly do you want to crush it? One thing I loved about being a Dating Coach was how far guys pushed their comfort zones. There was a bootcamp one night in NY, at Brass Monkey, when one of my students got SO in state that he was made out with 13 girls straight. And not like a creepy type of make-out (sometimes guys force themselves onto girls). These girls were loving it. And he didn’t say ANYTHING.   He was going up to them and within 30 seconds he was passionately making out with them. Purely off of eye contact, how he carried himself, and the energy he had. It’s what made Pickup &amp; Cold Approach so rewarding. Instant feedback and getting results. The ability to adjust, learn and do it better next time. But it gets a little more blurry in the “real world”... Everything else lacks the solid structure that ‘game’ has. … OR so that’s what most people think. The reason most guys fail at business, dating and their career is because of the comfort zone trap. They know they should take-action, but they’re not doing it consistently and they’re falling behind on momentum. And they start reading Self-Help books to help them manage their anxiety, failures and make them feel better. They push you forward with the goals and the lifestyle you want to create… they give you higher leverage strategies to execute… and they help you with your blind spots. Even though some can do it without mentors, the success-rate is much higher when you have them around (in my experience, around 90% higher).
