Steph will be addressing communication and psychosocial considerations at the summit. Here's a bit of a taste of what you can expect from Steph, enjoy and see you at the summit!Bio:Steph graduated from the Ithaca College DPT program in 2013, then decided to stay in the Ithaca and complete an orthopedic manual therapy residency at Cayuga Medical Center.  At the end of 2014, she embarked on the adventure that is travel PT and worked in NY, CA, NM and CO. Hungry to learn more about strength and conditioning and sports physical therapy, she sought out an amazing opportunity in Boston and is now a senior physical therapist at Boston Physical Therapy and Wellness.Here, she is spearheading community outreach and education in youth sports, specifically in the area of ACL injury risk reduction. She is also the co-founder of The Level Up Initiative, which aims to create a culture shift and positive change in healthcare through mentorship of new graduates and students. Steph is passionate about establishing a higher standard in youth training and movement development so as to shift to a more proactive model vs. reactive. He received his PhD in Biomechanics and Movement Science from the University of Delaware and his masters in physical therapy from Ohio University. His research aims to develop clinically effective treatments for individuals with patellofemoral pain, Achilles tendon injuries, or bone stress injuries. He focuses his research on two populations: endurance runners and tactical athletes. His work is currently supported by the US Department of Defense.  Dr. Willy has nearly 50 peer reviewed publications and is a national and international presenter of his research and clinical expertise on how to evaluate and treat the injured runner. Bio Greg Lehman is a practicing physiotherapist, researcher and educator in Toronto, Canada with over 20 years experience in the rehabilitation field.  Greg’s background includes a MSc in Spine Biomechanics, MSc in Physiotherapy and a Chiropractic degree.  Greg has published more than 20 peer reviewed publications in the manual therapy and exercise science fields.  He has a special interest in the multidimensional nature of pain and injury and believes that simple yet comprehensive approaches are a cornerstone of the biopsychosocial approach to patient care.  Greg has taught the popular “Reconciling Biomechanics with Pain Science” course for 5 years to 1000s of therapist throughout the world.  The course is about fundamentals and finding the common threads of many rehabilitation approaches. Should we call S&amp;C something else within the PT profession? This was a blast and Scotty is a wealth of knowledge on this topic, enjoy. BioDr. Scotty Butcher is an Associate Professor in the School of Rehabilitation Science at the University of Saskatchewan and co-founder of Strength Rebels. He holds a BSc PT and MSc Kin from the University of Saskatchewan and a PhD in Exercise Physiology and Experimental Medicine from the University of Alberta. He is certified as a Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist (ACSM-RCEP), is a CrossFit Level 1 trainer (CF-L1), and is formerly certified as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (NSCA-CSCS); the latter of which he has formally relinquished. Scotty teaches exercise physiology, prescription, and rehabilitation to physical therapy students and has published several peer reviewed articles and two book chapters related to exercise testing and prescription. Currently training as a powerlifter, he has a passion for strength training and translates this to promoting quality exercise training and rehabilitation practices for clinicians and students. John Donnelly joins us on the show to talk about his perspective as an exercise physiologist in cardiac rehab where cardio equipment usually dominates the setting. John makes the argument for including strength training in the cardiac setting. John M. Donnelly is currently a 2nd year DPT student at Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, NY - just north of NYC. He graduated from Adelphi University on Long Island in 2015 with a MS degree in Exercise Science, where he was also a member of the baseball team from 2010-2014. He is currently employed at New York Presbyterian Queens Hospital where he works as an Exercise Physiologist in their outpatient cardiac rehabilitation program. His role at NYPQ is to develop the exercise prescriptions and then monitor the physiological response of exercise for individuals who are s/p cardiac event (CABG, PCI, CHF, MI, transplant, etc). John is also a certified strength and conditioning specialist through the NSCA and trains several former college athletes. EP38 | Zak Gabor - Culture and MORE Leveling Up

Continuing our Boston PT and Wellness clinic culture series, we had Steph Allen on the show to discuss her role with BPTW and her current endeavors with youth athletes! Bio:Steph graduated from the Ithaca College DPT program in 2013, then decided to stay in the Ithaca and complete an orthopedic manual therapy residency at Cayuga Medical Center.  At the end of 2014, she embarked on the adventure that is travel PT and worked in NY, CA, NM and CO. Hungry to learn more about strength and conditioning and sports physical therapy, she sought out an amazing opportunity in Boston and is now a senior physical therapist at Boston Physical Therapy and Wellness.Here, she is spearheading community outreach and education in youth sports, specifically in the area of ACL injury risk reduction. She is also the co-founder of The Level Up Initiative, which aims to create a culture shift and positive change in healthcare through mentorship of new graduates and students. Steph is passionate about establishing a higher standard in youth training and movement development so as to shift to a more proactive model vs. reactive. Bio: Steph graduated from the Ithaca College DPT program in 2013, then decided to stay in the Ithaca and complete an orthopedic manual therapy residency at Cayuga Medical Center.  At the end of 2014, she embarked on the adventure that is travel PT and worked in NY, CA, NM and CO. Hungry to learn more about strength and conditioning and sports physical therapy, she sought out an amazing opportunity in Boston and is now a senior physical therapist at Boston Physical Therapy and Wellness.Here, she is spearheading community outreach and education in youth sports, specifically in the area of ACL injury risk reduction. She is also the co-founder of The Level Up Initiative, which aims to create a culture shift and positive change in healthcare through mentorship of new graduates and students. Steph is passionate about establishing a higher standard in youth training and movement development so as to shift to a more proactive model vs. reactive. She is determined to see injury rates decline, and to see the profession of physical therapy evolve to where the standard of care is reflective of the best available evidence.
