When you plan, you already foresee the results that are going to take place, and you have more chances of getting better results. When you know the things that worked for you in the past, then as far as strategies for your business are concerned, you know what to continue. When you have no strategy in place, you don’t get the results that you want. The things that worked for you in the past should become a part of your strategy. You should not feel wiped out when you’re done doing something. You should be excited, you should be ecstatic, and you should be anticipating good results.    Action Steps:  Make sure that you take some time to plan and be prepared for the year. Plan for things that you know you’re going to love for your business and for your clients. Tips for planning:   Review the previous year and take note of the things that worked and the things that didn’t. And then try to see what you can improve upon. Identify your goals. Start with a big vision for the whole 12 months. Set your goals. Take a look at the whole year and see where you can place them while keeping things realistic. Identify time wasters. Take a look at what projects you have in mind and ask yourself: Is this something that I really need to be doing or is it just a distraction so that I can’t get ready to go? How will this help me grow, and how will it help me make money? Could this be passed on to a team member or outsourced for someone else to do outside of my company? Adjust and leave room to move things around. Don’t be so rigid with your schedule. Not everything has to be concrete but it does have to come out. Scale back and focus on the projects that will give you the results versus the many projects that won’t get done. How to Slay like a Biz Mom Series- Intro -- #07

Do you know how it feels to go through a whole year of business feeling like you’ve been let down, or feeling like you haven’t accomplished anything? Well, it’s never too late to get back in the game. Wherever you may be in your business right now, it’s always the right time to have your best year yet. There’s no need to throw a pity party for yourself. You can always get back on and start whatever it is that you want to accomplish. The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is now in effect, but what is it exactly? What does it mean to be GDPR compliant? Business and intellectual property attorney, Deneen Warmington joins us to give legal education and explain all about the GDPR and what we can do to make sure that we are GDPR compliant. Topics Discussed in this Episode:  What is the GDPR? How is the GDPR going to affect your business? Who needs to comply with the GDPR and who does it apply to? What can we do for our websites to be GDP compliant? What can we do with the people that are already on our list? What can you do with the people, who are currently on your list, who fail to respond when asked for their consent? Is there a need for a privacy policy on your website?  Key Takeaways:  The GDPR is the new European Union privacy data law. It wants to make sure that any data that you give if you’re in the European Union, is protected. Even though you may not know how the GDPR is going to be enforced, it’s better to deal with it now before you’re in crisis mode. The GDPR doesn’t just apply to data coming from EU residents. It applies to anyone sitting in the EU, whether they are residents or non-residents, that transfer their personal, identifiable data to your website. “Personal identifiable data” means anything that can identify you as the person, including your IP address. The penalty for non-compliance can go up to €20 million or 4% of your gross annual worldwide income, whichever one is greater. And not just the European Union can come after you, but the individual person can come after you for mishandling their personal data. With the GDPR in place, you can no longer have an unsecured website.  Action Steps:  Get the user’s affirmative consent to include them on your list or when they sign up for an opt-in. Make sure everyone in your existing list also gives their consent. Have an updated privacy policy on your website that includes the GDPR. Get permission from your users if you have cookies on your website. Do your own research on the GDPR and speak to a privacy data attorney if you need to. Are You Down with GDPR? -- #05

Have you ever found yourself wondering how to keep your business on track to generate more conversions? In this episode, learn how to manage your business by staying in your lane to impact the long-term growth of your business. Join me as I talk about how to be successful as an online entrepreneur by being an authority in your industry. Topics Discussed in this Episode:  Why it’s essential to stay in your lane. How staying in your lane makes you productive and successful in your business. How to be an authority in your industry. Why you should not compare yourself to your competitors.  Key Takeaways:  If you stay in your lane, you can focus on growing your business. You are more confident as you produce valuable content, and you are not swayed even if others are offering the same services as yours. You can’t be productive if you’re on social media. Social media is a rabbit hole that loses you to different pages until it takes your time away from you. Staying in your lane makes you unaware of your competition. Hence, it will not direct you to a comparison game, leading you to negative self-talk that takes productivity away from you. Having more content establishes your authority in your industry. Doing that helps you produce monetary gain as people regard you as an expert, buy from you and recommend you to their colleagues as well.  Action Steps:  Have clarity on what your goals are in your business. Set solid boundaries on what you want in your business. Align what you spend time on with your goals. Military Influencers Conference 2018 Recap -- #010

Did you know that the grind, the hustle, the marketing, the sales, all the things in your business can lead to burnout really quickly? Getting burned out is the last thing you want to happen. Procrastinating. Dreading working with clients.   If you’re a leader and a CEO and you have a team, you can’t expect people to read your mind. We’re not doing this by osmosis and your team is not telepathic. If you don’t have joy with working with your clients, you have the wrong the clients or you are in the wrong profession. Fitness and exercise help to take our minds off what we are focused on or worried about, and it takes us to another place.    Action Steps:  As soon as you recognize the signs of burnout, steer yourself away from it. If you want people to do something right for you, break it down in steps. Avoid burnout:   Take a look at your schedule. Make sure you’re not cramming too many things in one day and that you have enough downtime. Schedule a CEO day at least once a month. Set boundaries in your business. Let your clients know what they can expect from working with you and set your working hours. Tell them who they can contact in case of an emergency. And set boundaries with your family as well. Exercise. Take walks and get some sun. Figure out the best time of day for you to exercise. And make sure to healthfully fuel your body. Take breaks. Go on vacation or have a staycation. Disconnect from your business for a couple of days or a week or two (or maybe even longer, if you can). Get your rest. Pick a good bedtime. Take a nap during the day. Have some downtime during the day just to Zen out. Take up a hobby. Create family time and make it a priority. Have time for creating memories with your family. Be available to help your kids with their homework. Go on a date with your spouse.    Alicia says: “Create a business that allows you to have the freedom to do what you want, when you want, and not have any restrictions on it. “If you want to have a business that has longevity, you have to realize that [burnout] happens. You also have to accept and acknowledge it, and then don’t carry the guilt… and then you move forward.”   Thanks for listening! Social Media Day San Diego Recap -- #08

How do you feel about back-to-school time? I don’t know about you, but I love it! However, it can also be stressful. If you’re a mompreneur like me, the back-to-school grind can indeed take a toll on your business. Find out how can you conquer back-to-school time for both your family and your business. Self-care is so important as an entrepreneur. Don’t put yourself last all the time. When you’re able to plan ahead, you know where things are going. You know what you’re doing and when you should be doing it. That way, you can be more productive with your time. Your schedule is what will really help you to have a good school year and a good transition. When you’re burned out, other people pick up on that vibe and your business does not grow. You can’t handle any more clients when you’re burned out.   Action Steps:  Prioritize and strategize. It’s all about being strategic with your time and figuring out what needs to take place first in your business. Get your kids involved. Teach them basic life skills and get them involved in doing chores at home. Plan just about anything ahead of time, including meals, doctors’ appointments, and even clients’ schedules. For planning meals ahead of time, write the menu on the chalkboard if you have a chalkboard, create a recipe book if you need to, and get your grocery shopping done ahead of time. Look at what activities your children are going to be doing throughout the year and see if you may need to scale it down so you don’t get burned out. Prioritize the activities that they really love. Enlist outside help when you need to. Share your calendar with your spouse and get the people who are involved with helping you in sync with what you’re doing. Plan out your days. You don’t have to be rigid about your schedule but make sure you know what you’re doing and when you’re supposed to be doing it. And schedule out a CEO day. Have routines in place for your kids.    Alicia says: “I think business does require sacrifice but I think it needs to be within your limits, within reason… Bring on that help because transitioning for back-to-school or any transitioning in your business requires that you makes some sacrifice and that you spend some time.” “Everybody has a goal to play in your life, in your family. When you stared your business the first thing you wanted to do was tell everyone on social media.  You tell your friends and family to “Like Our Page” or to “Follow us”. You shout from the rooftops about your business on social media because you’re so excited. You get leads, you get clients and then all of the sudden Facebook and Instagram start acting weird.  You can’t refresh your page, your posts are showing and you keep seeing the same posts. You text your friends and you find out Both IG and FB are down. That’s when the dread sets in that you’re about to miss sales because your WHOLE entire business marketing is on social media and your potential clients don’t know how to reach other than your DM’s. Does this sound familiar?  Facebook and Instagram went down twice in 2019 and for some business owners that meant their whole entire business went down.  So this episode is all about how banking on social media can and will hinder your business more than help it. Just think, If Mark Zuckerberg decides to say no more and these platforms were to go away what would you do? Some of yall would be SOL with no paddle because your entire business is only on social media.
