Like many of you, I like to listen to podcast as I work. I’ve listened to a ton of them. I discovered this one over a year ago and went back through the archives and listened to every single podcast that relates to family portraits! I’ve been in business for awhile now and keep getting surprised by how much I learn. Andrew asks great questions and is able to pull out juicy nuggets of pure gold from each person he interviews! And the Premium subscription is well worth the money!

Most tactical podcast out there for photographers

Andrew delivers interviews with highly successful international professionals, who share highly tactical guidance and advice on building a successful and sustainable photography business. There's very little fluff here - so much so that you'll find yourself running out of time to implement all the amazing techniques being shared. After 6 months of listening to the free version I decided to try Premium and it's worth the small price (multiple times over!). Andrew thank you for delivering highly relevant, actionable content and keeping things positive and real!

Rank #2: 308: Rachel Bourke – The 10 step sales system in action as a portrait photographer

Podcast cover
Read more

Premium Members, click here to access this interview in the premium area.

Rachel Bourke of ww.salesspace.com.au is the master of selling when it comes to small business and turning enquiries onto bookings. During the interview with Rachel for episode 294, she sold me on attending her 3 day Sales Intensive course in Sydney using her 10 step sales system (without me knowing). It was a big investment but felt right after talking to Rachel.

Interestingly, at the Sales Intensive, I learned exactly what Rachel had done in the way of selling me on the course in the first place. She used the exact strategy she teaches to have me knowing the sales course was the right thing for me. I was blown away by her system of selling which revolves around understanding her prospective client and finding the best solution for them.

If the idea of selling scares you or if you'd like to convert more leads into fantastic bookings, this episode is for you!

In this interview, I asked Rachel to play the part of a portrait photographer and sell me, as a prospective family portrait client, on booking her to photograph my family with confidence and knowing she is the perfect photographer for me. In the role play session, you'll hear Rachel use her 10-step sales system, the very same I learnt at the Sales Intensive.

It turns out, once you learn to sell to a system, selling can be fun!

Armed with a script that's adaptable to you, your business and personality and realising that selling is more about serving your client than pushing what you do, you will never look at sales and selling the same way after hearing Rachel's approach.

WOW… Blown away is the only way to describe how I feel after the Sales Intensive with Rachel and Col. Not only did they reveal a real and doable sales strategy, they helped me develop my very own pitch, sales models and close that feel natural and personal to me and my business. Further to that, I'm leaving the intensive, excited to sell. I never thought I'd say that. Armed with what I've learnt, I can't wait to get to work and put the strategy into action. Lastly, the group involvement, practice sessions and feedback were as valuable as the lessons presented by Rachel and Col. If you can make the face to face learning, do it! Thanks Col and Rachel for opening my eyes to what sales and selling should be. – Andrew Hellmich

This was the testimonial I left at the end of the 3-day intensive in Sydney. If you can make one of these events, do it!

Here’s some more of what we cover in the interview:

  • When is the best time to mention sales to your photography clients?
  • First impressions happen during your first client contact
  • A client's first impressions of you dictates whether they wish to go further on a call and book
  • Sales is more than just selling
  • How to ensure clients never regret being sold to by you
  • What Rachel teaches in her course
  • Andrew and Rachel role-play what happens during a Facebook ad phone enquiry
  • The importance of setting expectations during phone enquiries
  • Ask what clients fear during photo sessions and what they want to achieve
  • What qualifying questions to ask during a phone enquiry to guarantee bookings
  • Asking the right questions to keep clients interested
  • How to lead a conversation that converts enquiries to bookings
  • Three key points to having a perfect conversation with your clients
  • What is the conversation framework?
  • Rebuttal statements when clients mention they have other photographers in mind
  • Never allow clients to hang up from the phone without the next meeting booked
  • Sales calls should be fun
  • Why you need to commit 15-30 mins on a phone call with your ideal clients
  • Clients will say NO if they don't feel like they are important
  • What is the seamless sales system?
  • Rachel's course lets you learn how to sell and help create the language of your business
  • Who can join Rachel's sales intensive course?
  • How much does the sales incentive cost?

Rank #3: 330: Johl Dunn – How to create a money making portrait photography business

Podcast cover

Premium Members, click here to access this interview in the premium area.

Johl Dunn of www.jdportraitart.com.au started his photography business from the living room of a shared house back in 2002 when he was 22 and working full time as a brickies labourer. He was only able to work on growing his business at nights and weekends.

From there, Johl's studio, J.D Portrait Art has evolved into one of Melbourne’s Premier boutique portrait studios.

With his wife and two staff working in the business, things are going great in what is often described as a VERY tough market and climate for portrait photographers.

It's not about selling the most, it's about selling what is right. – Johl Dunn

After exchanging a few emails, I learned that Johl is only spending around 20hrs a week in the portrait side of his business. His staff take care of the rest.

Their average sale is just over $2800 this year!

Johl says he has worked hard to implement strategies and procedures over the last few years to free himself up to focus on other parts of his business but still maintain and improve the studio's client experience and the business turnover.

In fact, he is working 50% fewer hours in the photography business and still growing its revenue.

In this interview, Johl shares how to create a money-making portrait photography business, no matter your location. It's all about generating leads, pre-shoot (informative and helpful) consultations and getting out of your own way to make great sales.

Here’s some more of what we cover in the interview:

  • How to manage your time while growing your photography business
  • Why go into the photography coaching space with such a successful photography business
  • Why Johl prefers outsourcing or employing non-photographers for photography sales positions
  • Finding the right mindset when selling your images
  • Why styled shoots have fewer chances of getting you repeat businesses
  • Selling beforehand or warming up your clients are key to generating sales
  • The importance of avoiding buyers remorse and how to achieve it
  • Why planning appointments with clients will boost your sales
  • 90% of Johl's clients come from free shoot vouchers
  • Johl sends out $250 credit vouchers for photography sessions and it works
  • Getting clients emotionally involved to guarantee sales
  • How Johl introduces pricing after excitement building
  • Scripts to use when informing possible clients of their average spend
  • Where clients find Johl's vouchers in the local community
  • Facebook Ads as a lead generation magnet
  • Why Johl doesn't get higher leads through third party marketing
  • Why it is a cardinal sin to send pricing quotes via email and messenger chat?
  • Johl's secret to creating successful planning appointments
  • Booking child/family portraits on school holidays
  • Johl's photography style and why it's conducive to great photography sales
  • How many clients Johl photographs on a normal day
  • The correlation between fun shoots and great sales
  • What happens during Johl's client planning appointments?
  • The best way to display your cheapest product yet still generate sales
  • How to train your staff to sell effectively
  • Using PayRight to manage client payment plans
  • How Johl handles in-house payment plans
  • The misconception that rich people are the best clients
  • Who are Johl's average clients?
  • How to handle the bad Melbourne weather as an outdoor portrait photographer
  • Johl's reason for having a street-front studio instead of working from home
  • Johl's favourite software to use for his business
  • The best thing Johl has ever done for his business
  • The importance of investing in coaching or personal development
  • What convinced Johl to shift to full-time photography?
  • A setback that Johl experienced in his business
  • Why Johl shifted from weddings to portrait photography
  • What Johl would do if starting his photography business if he was to move and start over
  • How to handle unhappy clients or complaints
  • Is it imperative to always have a unique selling proposition?
  • Why your photoshoot is the least important part of booking clients and making sales

Take care and thanks again for all that you do to keep us all inspired and enthusiastic about the business of photography. Oh, I’ve attached a picture of the dangers of being a PhotoBizExposed listener

I received the above BombBomb video message from Harlow baby photographer, Sue Kennedy after I asked if she's been implementing anything she's heard from the podcast? Sue said in her message: For me Julie Muir in 320 was a big one, I often take notes and listen again to episodes, but with hers, I actually invested in BombBomb. She said something along the lines of standing out from competitors by doing something different, and this really resonated with me. Still early days, but it's definitely warmly received by people. The first couple of enquiries booked – obviously, it did not continue that way, but it has improved my conversion rate.  I have the option to book online, and it still surprises me a little when people book out of the blue, so I BombBomb them to just to say looking forward to their shoot, and this seems to be warmly received. I know that's a bit too pink & fluffy for some, but I want clients who return as their family grows, and hopefully, this will help me build a strong relationship with them. My mindset has pivoted in the past 18 months, and I have finally embraced the fact I do want to run a business in a way that feels authentic to me.

Shireen Hammond of www.fieldofvision.com.au has been on my radar for an interview for years! The reason… she's an incredibly talented photographer who charges what a skilled wedding and portrait photographer deserves to be paid and has been doing it for many years!

Although we've never met in person and only spoken once – to reschedule this interview, I've been hearing the name Shireen Hammond most of my photography life. I was introduced to Shireen via email by Tony Knight of This Is My Life Photography who featured in episode 242 of the podcast.

He said in that intro…

Hi Andrew – here is the intro email to Shireen Hammond, who is literally the nicest photographer you will ever meet.

She is also the best Wedding Photographer, Portrait Photographer, Dog Photographer, and Breast cancer survivor.

Did I say she is the nicest?

Since that email, I've been chasing Shireen for this interview and have finally cornered her.

Together with her Husband Rob they are Field of Vision Photography.

She has countless awards for her incredible photography and is still collecting them. Shireen was named Australian Family Photographer of the Year in 2016. She is an AIPP recognized Quadruple Master of Photography! She's the mother of 6!

And she LOVES to spoil her clients!

In this interview, she shares how she's become and remained the successful photography business owner she is.

Here’s some more of what we cover in the interview:

  • The struggles of life and business with cancer

Messenger Bot competition/giveaway stats

Last week I trialed the use of messenger bots to run a giveaway. The results have been astounding, as you can see in the screenshot below.

In addition to the performance of the post, you can see below 383 people were added to my Many Chat subscriber list and 264 to my email list! Pretty amazing.

Keep in mind, these results did come at a price in regard to ad spend. I allocated $100 per day for 5 days to this campaign. Interestingly, more than half the results came from organic reach which we're continually told is the result of people liking, tagging, sharing, commenting and generally engaging  with our content.

How does this affect you in your business?

Simply put, you can emulate this exact experiment for your target audience. Give away something worth entering, make it fun and engaging and build a list of potential clients very fast. There's no need to spend as much on your ad but consider what a client is worth to you, set yourself a goal for a number of bookings and consider what you'd happily pay in advertising to make those bookings.

For example, let's say you're a portrait photographer who averages $1000 per shoot.

You hope to book 5 sessions from your competition/giveaway to bring in $5000.

If you'd be happy to spend $100 to generate 5 bookings, start with a $100 advertising budget and go from there.

How do you make the bookings after the competition?

You go back to your leads, via messenger or email or both and offer some kind of special or promo to entrants – 2nd prize draw winners if you like.

You can keep promoting to this list and at the same time, share content to build trust and plant the seeds of what a shoot with you will be like. For the people you don't book right away, you have the opportunity to add them to your email newsletter, to retarget to them via ads and to potentially book them a month, six months or a year later.

if you run your competition well, there is a lot to gain from the list you build – in addition to the immediate bookings.

You can build all this yourself if you have an understanding of ManyChat – the application to build messenger sequences or bots. The BEST way to learn this is with Iain Sim's course, Messenger Marketing for Photographers and if you purchase via my link, my son Matthew can get you up and running fast and for free. matthew will work with you to install and customise your first bot flow or sequence and set up a messenger bubble on your website. Yes, al free and included when you take Ian's course and if you purchase via my affiliate link: http://nicechatletsbook.com/andrew

Already have Iain's course and want more help? Matthew is here and available to install, modify to set up what you need. Simply email me at andrew@photobizx.com and let me know what you're looking to do and Matthew will be in touch with a price and to get you started fast.

For example:

Install a flow to work with your Facebook Ad (plus have a messenger bubble installed on your website): USD$100

Don't have the course or don't want to learn how to set up a giveaway to generate bookings? Matthew can set up a fully customised giveaway sequence (similar to the one I just ran on the PhotoBizX Facebook Page for USD$150 (for PBX Members) or USD$200 (for non-members).

There are so many applications for Messenger Bots and most can be adapted to work for you in your photography business. We're constantly told to go where our clients are and if that's Messenger, we should be there too.

Gustavo Fernández of www.gustavofernandez.com is a corporate headshot and event photographer based in San Francisco.

Born and raised in the Dominican Republic, he has lived in Italy, Spain and now the US where Gustavo was one of the top sales reps in the country in his previous pharmaceutical sales job.

He's had his photography work displayed in Times Square, presented at WPPI – the largest photography conference in the USA and recently had the chance to photograph Bill Gates.

None of this is why I contacted him for this interview.

I received an email introduction from previous podcast guest Vincent Pugliese who said…

Andrew – I want you to meet Gustavo Fernández. Gustavo is based out of San Francisco and has an incredible photography business shooting corporate events and corporate headshots.

He is a true innovator in the field in that he barely uses any social media. He is a master connector, giver, and someone who does business the right way.

In our group, we have even given him the nickname of “Giftavo”, because of the thoughtful and creative ways he gives gifts to his clients and others.

That was enough for me and here is the interview I recorded with corporate headshot and event photographer, Gustavo Fernández.

Here’s some more of what we cover in the interview:

  • What is corporate and event photography?
  • How Gustavo transitioned from wedding to event photography
  • The type of events Gustavo shoots and what's available to event photographers
  • How and who hires Gustavo to photograph events?
  • What to supply your corporate and event photography clients after the shoot
  • Where and what event photography images will be used by clients?
  • How to price your event photography
  • Usage and copyright for corporate and event photography and how it affects the photographer
  • The importance of picking up the phone and answering emails in a timely manner
  • Bringing up rates and add-ons in the initial conversation to increase upfront sales easily
  • Hiring a VA and outsourcing tasks you don't need to be focussing on
  • How Gustavo sees his photography business growing
  • How does Gustavo hire and work with second shooters
  • How to attract corporate photography clients and how clients find/search for event photographers
  • How to be a resource and not just someone with a camera in the corporate world of event photography
  • Making a difference by supplying free shoots and giving back to your clients
  • Is event photography a genre worth pursuing for more photographers?
  • Why does Gustavo think of himself as a businessman rather than a photographer today?

Here's what New Zealand animal photographer, Cate Thomas said about her membership when I asked…

Hey Andrew,

Here’s my list of things I’ve received through my membership;
  • I’ve used Nick Peel’s strategy with much success and still do now! Don’t foresee I will be changing anytime soon.
  • I’ve used the promo code for Mark Rosetta’s MYM course – loving the course so far!
  • I have purchased your FB ads course and implemented with success. Fantastic step by step for idiots like me!
  • Now in a fantastic Mastermind Group (ideas came from your instruction through our membership). Brilliant, supportive and fun group.
  • Marriage support LOL
  • I usually take at minimum 2 things from each interview – and I either implement these OR they become wish list items that I would like to implement. These are just too many to list!
  • I learnt about LOOM videos and have now implemented this with great feedback from clients. I use it instead of emails and make a little slideshow in Canva to emphasise important points. I flick through these during the video.

A-MAZING subscription. I don’t have many but this one is my absolute favourite.

I know I may have missed some but these are my big takeaways Cheers,Cate

iTunes Reviews and Shout-outs

Each week I check for any new iTunes reviews and it's always a buzz to receive these… for a couple of reasons.

Firstly, it's confirmation that I'm on the right track with the interviews and that they really are helping you improve your photography business. That's awesome!

Secondly, iTunes is the biggest search engine when it comes to podcasts and it's your reviews and ratings that help other photographers find PhotoBizX. More listeners mean more interviews and ultimately a better show.

If you have left a review in the past, thank you!

If you haven't and you'd like to, head to https://photobizx.com/itunes and you can leave some honest feedback and a rating which will help both me and the show and I'll be sure to thank you on the show and add a link to your website or blog if you let me know the URL of your website and your name.

Alternatively, if you've left a review for PhotoBizX and are looking for more backlinks to help your SEO, leave a review for the new Photography Xperiment Podcast and email me your keywords or keyword phrase and where you'd like me to link to.

Another great way to get a backlink to your site is to send a video testimonial. It doesn't need to be fancy and your phone will be perfect. Click record and tell me how PhotoBizX has made a difference to you and your photography business.

Best Podcast Ever!

★★★★★ In Apple Podcasts by Walnut Creek Boudoir Photographer, Missy Goldwyn from the United States of America on June 22, 2019

I stumbled across PhotoBizX about a month ago and immediately did the trial. During that time, I was so impressed, that I called my fellow photographer friend Hector and told him about it, and we both ended up joining the year-long membership!

It has truly changed my business.

I like to listen while I drive, and I have to now keep a pencil and paper in my car b/c I get so many ideas from every podcast I have listened to!

I even contacted Kylie Garner after hearing her podcast about marketing, signed up with her, and am already seeing positive results.

PhotoBizX has truly changed my business! I will keep recommending it to all my photographer friends, and I now look forward to getting in the car so I can listen to PhotoBizX!

Without doubt a gold mine of resource

★★★★★ In Apple Podcasts by South Wales Wedding photographer, Lewis Fackrell from the United Kingdom on June 20, 2019

I was introduced to this podcast channel by a local wedding photographer competitor friend. Initially, I was a little apprehensive about subscribing but once I began exploring and listening to the podcasts I then set myself onto a yearly subscription.

I have now listened to over 20 podcasts and I have implemented some fantastic advice, tricks and developed my marketing strategy further.

Without doubt, one of my finest business investments.

Plus it counts as education… Learning while editing or travelling – ideal!

Thanks once again for the quality content and valuable knowledge shared by yourself Andrew and the speakers.

Marcus Anthony of  www.marcusanthonyphoto.com has only been a photographer for a few years and since starting, has built a six-figure business and it all comes down to a few key principles he follows religiously. My number one aim for this interview was to learn how he's done and doing it so you can emulate his success and learn how you too can run a successful portrait photography business today.

STOP PRESS: I've just learned Marcus has had a record USD$55,111 month.

Marcus has been a PhotoBizX Premium Member since January 2017 but it was a conversation with photography business coach, Bernie Griffiths that had me reaching out to him for this interview. Bernie suggested if I want to talk to a photographer who transformed his business by learning to shoot for sales, speak to Marcus.

When researching for this interview, I was told Marcus picked up a camera to try and make “a bit of money” on the side.

He established himself quickly as a wedding photographer but has since moved to portraits.

Based in Wilmington, North Carolina and specializing in wall portraits of families, children and babies – it sounds like his business is going from strength to strength!

Here’s some more of what we cover in the interview:

  • Why Marcus transitioned to portraits from wedding photography in his business
  • How Marcus started a career in photography
  • Business prior to photography
  • The importance of having a laser focus attention and a mentor for guidance
  • Why you don't need to spend time on your website to get started in photography as a business
  • Advice on improving your shooting style – for money
  • Knowing what sells and photographing portraits of kids and families with sales in mind
  • How to recognize a saleable image for your client
  • Are you shooting portraits for art or for your business?
  • Is it still ideal to sell digital files to your portrait clients today?
  • Marcus' number of shots per session and the number of images he shows to clients for the best sales
  • Power tips on lowering your editing and culling time
  • The importance of staff who understands and value your business
  • Why phone calls instead of Facebook messenger bots in this photography business
  • How to strategically convince clients to buy instead of taking only the free photos – from photography promotion
  • Pricing and sales sessions in detail with Marcus

More helpful than I ever thought possible!

★★★★★ in Apple Podcasts by Melbourne pet photographer, Paul Tadday from Australia on September 7, 2019

As a photographer who is reasonably new to the world of ‘business', it can be overwhelming trying to figure what you need to do, what sequence to do it in and HOW to do it.

Also, you don't know what you don't know.

Andrew's podcast is a wealth of knowledge. Even though he is a very well established and experienced photographer/business owner, I find that his approach to interviewing his guests makes it very easy for a layperson to follow.

He asks questions by putting himself in the shoes of a newbie; and with each answer that is given, he already has in mind to ask the exact follow-on question that I already have in my mind.

With a plethora of incredible photographers and business specialist interviewed every week, PhotoBizX is without a doubt the most invaluable resource I have found so far when it comes to strategies involving client targeting, marketing, sales and client interaction. Paul Tadday Photography

Cate Thomas of www.avedonnz.com is animal photographer based in New Zealand with a life that revolves around animals and her farm. Each time we've spoken or exchanged messages there's something about being in from the farm chores, feeding the horses, out in my farm clothes and her pet photography business.

It was a series of messages with Cate that prompted me to ask her to record this interview.

At the end of March, Cate sent me this PM…

Heya Andrew

I’ve come to a conclusion this weekend. I love my work as a photographer but it’s bloody hard work to run a business.

I actually have no life.

As you are into cycling, I’m an equestrian rider and competitor and I adore my horse. But she and I have no time together. I am CONSTANTLY throwing my time and effort into my business.

And yes, I know this is what needs to be done – I’m a terribly hard worker and I don’t believe my imagery is the downfall. I just cannot sustain these hours any longer to make a bloody pittance of an income.

People in NZ are just not wanting to spend this kind of money. So I’m going to call it a day.

No need to waste your time with a phone call tomorrow. I truly do appreciate the time and effort you have put in with me.

Cheers,

Cate

We went back and forth a couple of times, I made a few simple suggestions and asked a few questions before offering a little advice.

A week later I received this message…

Good morning Andrew!

My message greets you with some excellent news!

Recently I did a big shoot with horse girls on a training camp. I do this quite a lot with this particular horse company.

Historically it went like this – I shoot, I edit, I put up a gallery. All digitals in the gallery for $60 of which 2 out of 6 people would purchase. Prints (at a stupid low price) offered but never purchased. No products/wall art offered. Most people shared on social media through the gallery and screenshot images and used for profile images. Not ideal. The gallery was available for 6 weeks.

This time around. I shot, I edited and put into the gallery.

I offered wall art/products (at new prices which still aren't ideal but way better) and I offered digital files.

Option for digital files was: purchase 1 or purchase the entire gallery. First 48 hours 20% discount.

I stipulated NO screenshots, I did not allow social media sharing through the gallery and an expiry date for the gallery at 2 weeks. Also stipulated that there is a $75 fee to reinstate a gallery if you miss the deadline. (in nicer words of course)

In the first hour of releasing the gallery, I sold 3 top package digitals, with 2 more to come today. And close to $750 in wall art. 6 orders from 6 riders.

How's that for proof in the pudding?

Cheers,

Cate

Since then, I've had updates every week with success story after success story from an excited Cate.

I thought it'd be great to hear from the photographer herself to learn more about this massive change!

Here’s some more of what we cover in the interview:

  • A look back on Cate's struggles in running her photography business
  • The difficulty of rushing in to create a business model and finding the target market
  • The one experience that drove Cate back to continue with her animal photography business
  • Stepping back and looking at things from a different perspective
  • Dealing with the worst client and the positive takeaways
  • Attracting new clients and where they were coming from
  • Cate's creative way of running ads on her truck
  • Post-shoot workflow and sales that are working today
  • Utilising video replies and galleries
  • Animal photography pricing in Cate's business today
  • Discounting and promo codes
  • How Cate's email and text messaging system works
  • Cate's future plans for her horse photography business
  • The ordering and delivery process following a photography session
  • Why Cate is considering expanding into family and portrait photography
  • Cate's ideal turn over figure target for 12 month's time

Although not technically a review, you'll hear me mention Darren in today's episode after he received so much help from other members inside the PhotoBizX Members Facebook Group. Darren shoots wedding photography in Lanarkshire UK and sent me the following message:

Photobizx Members Group For The Win

Hi Andrew!

I just wanted to bring a discussion to your attention from the members group on Facebook.

This morning I got an email from a client telling me my images were poor quality.

I've only shot 4 weddings to date and this was the 3rd of that group.

Her comments shook me. I was in a complete panic.

I stopped myself responding immediately and took to the group hoping some kind soul would have an answer for me.

I did not expect the outpouring of comments, advice, support and love I got back.

I was blown away again. In a good way.

So, I wanted to make sure you knew about how the PhotoBizX members rallied around and supported a very worried newbie photographer from halfway around the world.

It's testament to why you created the group and the family mindset of its members.

Have a great day! (I know mines is much better than it started).

Evergreen Facebook Ad Funnels Course (Version 2) – it's not too late!

If you've only been using Facebook ads to give away free shoots or offer big discounts to attract photography clients – you're missing out on the real power of social media advertising!

In this course, which will be presented live, I'll show you how to set up an evergreen lead generation funnel utilizing Facebook Ads and email. Use this strategy to build authority and likability while establishing you and your brand as the go-to photographer in your area. There's no need to give away free shoots or discounted sessions with this strategy – unless you want to.

The second round of live training on how to create an evergreen Facebook Ad funnel for your photography business kicked off last week and each of the four sessions will be recorded and made available to all course members, shortly after the live class.

Dates: June 6th, June 12th and June 19th at 8am (Australian Eastern Time).

I'll cover FB ads as a strategy, not just a tactic and bringing it all together with your email marketing, branding and retargeting.

Also – I'll share a couple of more advanced strategies on audience building. One is a little ‘Gray' in its approach and not something I'll share on an open forum.

Cost is USD$137 for the 4 weeks – including access to the member's FB Group for course participants.

Recordings will be available but the classes will be delivered live.

Q&A for participants every step of the way with examples and full tutorials on setting up audiences and making all this work in your business.

Registrations are now open here: https://photobizx.com/funnel

I really can’t recommend this course enough. I am in marketing and thought I might get one or two things out of this course, but I was blown away. One lesson in particular is worth the cost of the entire course! If you want to advertise on social media, I think the process you set up in this course is an ABSOLUTE fundamental! – Aleisha Hey

If you've attended the 1st course, yes, you will have access to this course too. PLUS, course members will have FREE access to any future iterations of the Fb Ad Funnels Course.

I’ve been a listener for a couple of months now and finally upgraded to the membership site. I was hesitant at first, but not because of cost, but because of time constraints. I have another full-time job, and photography is just my side gig.

The membership is 100% worth every penny!

I am blown consistently, by the phenomenal content Andrew and his guests share. I have learned so much! More than anything else, Andrew, I want to thank you for your inspiration! I can HEAR the smile on your face during these interviews! And as much as I appreciate everything I have learned from you and your guests, I believe that it is your kindness, genuine giving and wonderful spirit they have inspired me the most.

I can’t even begin to thank you enough.

Dates: May 28th, June 6th, June 12th and June 19th at 8am (Australian Eastern Time).

I'll cover FB ads as a strategy, not just a tactic and bringing it all together with your email marketing, branding and retargeting.

Also – I'll share a couple of more advanced strategies on audience building. One is a little ‘Gray' in its approach and not something I'll share on an open forum.

Cost is USD$137 for the 4 weeks – including access to the member's FB Group for course participants.

in Apple Podcasts by Fresno CA headshot photographer, Hector Cavazos from the United States of America on June 9, 2019

A little over a week ago a photographer friend recommended Andrew Hellmich. At first, I was thinking this is just another podcast about photography. I was completely wrong!

After a few days of listening to Andrews interviews, I was refocused and inspired to take my business to another level.

One take away, I noticed Andrew allows his guest to share their opinion. As a photographer, I enjoy hearing stories about success and what worked and didn’t work for them. Some guests love FB ads and some don’t value it as a way of attracting clients they desire.

Listening to each guest give an explanation is priceless and important to all listeners.

The Photobiz Xposed podcast isn’t about having only one way of doing things. It’s about sharing ideas and minimizing the learning curve while building confidence.

Photobiz Xposed is a great photography community!

I highly recommend Andrew Hellmich for any level photographer. Keep up the great work Andrew!!!

Excellent Source of Information!

in Apple Podcasts by Ocean City Md wedding photographer, Amanda White from the United States of America on June 14, 2019

I have listened openly to many different podcasts and Photo Biz X blows them all away. I have learned and implemented so much from this podcast.

The way the interviewer delves into each interview is incredible. He extracts the most important bits of information to provide the listener with clear and actual information they can immediately implement into their business. And that is just the free version!

I was sceptical at first but now that I’ve gone through every episode at the edge of my seat with each one, I am convinced that the paid version is going to be well worth it.

Astute Business Conversationalist!

in Apple Podcasts by San Francisco Corporate Event Photographer, Gustavo Fernandez in the United States of America on June 13, 2019

Have always admired Andrew's piercing questions to get to the bottom of a business persons process and mind. Love the nitty-gritty details he discusses that is often overlooked in man other shows.

Appreciate learning the basics that help me continue to grow in my photography business.

This is Part 2 of the interview with Alishba Kzar of www.dreamboudoirphotography.com, who has built the most successful boudoir photography business I know of. In part 2 we go deep into Alishba's marketing and advertising process that sees her generating the kind of sales she does after making incredible connections with her clients.

In last weeks episode, I introduced Alishba and said she was on track to generate over $200,000.00 this year. Since then, she posted this into the Members Facebook Group…

Thanks, friends! Hope it’s useful to you all! ALSO, since this interview, my projected gross for this year is $425,000.00 – Alishba Kzar

In this interview, Alishba shares her tactics for lead generation via Instagram, Facebook and her website with the utilisation of ads, retargeting and optin forms. From there, everything revolves around making a connection and getting her ideal clients on the phone. No phone call, no booking! Second IPS sale this week totalling $7062.50. NOT including sessions fee.

On the low end on average, I make $4k/session. I shoot 12 -16 sessions a month.

IPS is an art. It begins from the moment your potential client hears your name/sees your work. All of this without pushy sales tactics.

When you know your client and understand them they will trust you with their whole being. People have money for the things they want.

Bethel Nathan of www.elevatebybethel.com is not a photographer but a wedding celebrant based in San Diego, USA. In this interview, she shares tactics on how to avoid being ghosted following a photography enquiry.

It happens to all of us… we receive an enquiry, everything sounds great, and you're already counting the dollars to come from working with this fantastic client then… crickets. Nothing. You've been ghosted.

In addition to Bethel's celebrant work, she is also a business coach, speaker and philanthropist. She has an MBA in international business, spent nine years working for global investment banks in Tokyo, New York and London before coming back to her family-owned business as Chief operating officer.

Following all that, she decided to build a business for herself and started Ceremonies by Bethel.

Armed with all her business skills and wedding know-how, Elevate by Bethel was born and she now helps other small business owners in the wedding industry develop and succeed in their pursuits.

When setting up this interview, we threw around a few topics, and one that caught my attention was: All the reasons couples don't book you (and what you need to do differently, so they do!) That's what you'll find in this episode, plus more.

Here’s some more of what we cover in the interview:

  • Why Bethel left the corporate world of banking to establish her own business
  • Why start a business as a wedding celebrant?
  • Focusing on your own success and not the competition
  • Creating a life that makes you happy and keeps you passionate is the answer
  • How to utilise philanthropy as a business tool
  • Being genuine about your passions when posting to social media or your website
  • Dealing with ghosting and how to stop it occurring in your photography business
  • The importance of having your ideal couple or clients to work with and serve
  • Recommendations on getting back to clients who don't book you
  • Why you need to let clients know about your pricing
  • How setting the right expectations really matters in your business
  • Considering gender equality and using the right terminology for your website
  • Why reviews are extremely powerful
  • The difference between reviews and testimonials – which are best for you
  • How to become the primary photographer being referred by your local wedding celebrants
  • Tagging couples when sending emails to your vendors
  • Why you MUST focus more on your website than your social media
  • How to make it easy for couples to contact you
  • How to follow-up effectively and why it will make a huge difference to your bookings
  • How to be more human and personal when establishing connections
  • Video replies and their drawbacks
  • How to set your own tone when replying to clients
  • How ‘Elevate by Bethel' works and the type of clients she works with
  • What clients can expect and get when working with Bethel as your coach

Here are the latest reviews:

★★★★★ in Stitcher Radio by Sydney event photographer, Orlando Sydney from Australia.

I first came across Andrew' podcasts in 2015. It was great then, PhotoBizX in 2019 attracts the best market leaders in their speciality.

Somehow Andrew extracts all the detail very few interviewers could out of their guests. Much of this information you'd only get from paying thousands at conferences, summits or one on one consultations.

Give this podcast a few listens, you'll be glad you did. Information worth $1000's

★★★★★ on the PhotoBizX Facebook page by Sydney Pet Photographer, Keefe Tay from Australia

Since starting my Pet Photography business 2 years ago, The Photo Biz Xposed podcast has been easily one of the best and most helpful resources of all time. It is a one-stop place for all the best information from creating saleable photos, to marketing, sales, and photography.

Beyond that, Andrew is so approachable. He seeks to impart his wisdom about running a profitable photography business with humility and is so easy to talk to.

If anyone is ever considering subscribing to Photo Biz Exposed, I'd say just do it! Because you will have access to all this amazing content literally at your fingertips.

★★★★★ on the PhotoBizX Facebook page by Asheville photographer, Linnae Haris from Asheville, NC in the USA

One of the BEST podcast and community for photographers!

I‘ve been in business for 9 years and I still get great ideas.

I especially like that Andrew varies things up by hosting photographers in various genres.

It's worth paying the small monthly fee and getting the subscription for premium listeners. He saves all the really good bits for us!

Video Recording App – Vlog Easy

For anyone using video as part of their marketing, I purchased an app last week, to record on the phone where it automatically cuts the pauses.

You can add text overlays and it's very easy to use and edit with.

It's no good for Facebook Lives but if they're not for you, this could be a big time saver.

I paid $147 for the lifetime access and am happy with the purchase.

I asked about an affiliate program to be able to rebate PBX Members and have this link:

https://photobizx.com/videoeditor

I can organise a $22 (approx 15%) rebate if you purchase.

Honestly though… only get it if you intend to use it – or trial it for the 14 days. I hate to see anyone buy something and not use it.

Premium members – You'll need to send me your PayPal email address and receipt for the rebate.

This is for iPhone only at the moment.

Thank you!

Thanks again for listening and big thanks to Bethel for coming on and sharing her thoughts and ideas on branding, customer relations and building a business we're passionate about to make life fun AND rewarding.
