Women of the Faith: Wen Wei Chieh In the face of intense shame heaped upon her by others throughout her life, Wen Wei Chieh was never ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This woman of the faith endured poverty, loss, and rejection at every turn, but she stood firm on the Word of God, knowing the Lord would remain faithful to her. She endured a traumatic childhood, the loss of countless family members, an unfaithful husband, and imprisonment in Communist China—most of the circumstances in her life could have filled her with shame, but she ultimately knew she had nothing to be ashamed of as a child of God. Irene Sun was born in Malaysia and is the author of the picture books Taste and See: All About God’s Goodness and God Counts: Numbers in His Word and His World. Hunter is a wonderful host! I can hear her passion for discipling women in each episode. She is vulnerable and asks great questions to these incredible guests in such an engaging way. I have been blessed by every episode I&#39;ve listened to. The topics are challenging (and often convicting). I always learn something and have to scribble down notes while listening. Overall, this is such an encouraging podcast. I recommend it for any woman who wants to grow spiritually and walk more closely with Jesus. It&#39;s an incredible resource!

Maggie Combs

On today’s episode of the Journeywomen podcast, I chatted with Maggie Combs about the deep desires of our hearts that cause real grief when they remain unfulfilled. Maggie is the author of  UnsuperMommy and mama to her three busy boys: Isaac, Zander, and Judah. She blames their unending energy and solid build completely on her tall, active husband, Wes. Maggie and I talked about everything from why God allows some of our desires to go unmet to where the Gospel meets us in those unmet expectations. She said, “Only in nearness to God will we have all of our desire fulfilled. I like to call this holy discontent. This means that the purpose of this unmet desire is to constantly remind you that only God will satisfy the unending desire of your heart. Elizabeth Elliot says, ‘Heaven is not here, it’s there. If we were given all that we wanted here our hearts would settle for this world and not the next.’ So this holy discontentment is a kindness to keep us longing for more of God.”   Maggie literally had me saying, “Amen,” throughout the podcast which thankfully, doesn’t happen often, but I know you guys will be fist pumping with me as she gracefully and powerfully brings the truth on this episode. Matt is a husband, father, and pastor who lives in Fort Worth, Texas with his wife and three children. He’s a graduate of TCU and Dallas Theological Seminary and has been working in full-time ministry since 2000 preparing the way for the Lord Jesus in the lives of men and women. Matt was the founding director of a discipleship program called the Forge at Pine Cove where he spent 12 years helping young men and women learn their identity and steward it well. He has recently moved on from the Forge and is now serving as the Recruitment and Development Pastor at Christ Chapel Bible Church in Fort Worth. On this episode of the Journeywomen podcast I’m interviewing Amy Waters, a Licensed Professional Counselor, Women’s Bible Study leader, disciple maker, and self-proclaimed theology junkie. Amy spent nearly 10 years on staff at Pine Cove as a Conference Director and it was there that God gave her a passion for ministering to women and families. She earned a Masters in Marriage and Family Counseling from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2011 and is currently counseling at the Alethia Counseling Center in Tyler, TX. Amy and I are discussing how we as women can relate to our emotions. I’ve been planning this interview since the idea for the Journeywomen podcast was born many months ago. To be honest, I felt really awkward coming off of this recording, but I listened to Amy and I’s conversation while editing I realized that my own discomfort stemmed from the fact that I personally struggle to relate to my emotions. Brooks and I live in a culture where emotion isn’t admonished and I think I’m a little out of touch with my emotions these days. My chat with Amy was enlightening, helpful, and challenging. I asked my friends Hope Blanton and Christine Gordon to join me because Hope is a trained counselor and Christine has formal theological training. On today’s episode of the Journeywomen podcast, I chatted with Karen Hodge about being a life-giver! Something I know we all desire to be. We talked about everything from the distinction between a life-taker and a life-giver, to who our ultimate life-giver is, Jesus Christ. From Life-Taker to Life-Giver with Karen Hodge

On today’s episode of the Journeywomen podcast, I had the true joy of chatting with Abigail Dodds, someone I’ve admired from afar as I’ve read her articles for Desiring God and followed along with her life via Instagram. Abigail is married to Tom and mom of five kiddos ranging from age 14 to 4. She’s a part-time writer, part-time Bible study teacher, part-time homeschool teacher, part-time baker, gardener, and knitter. But she would tell you she’s a full-time Christian, a full-time wife and mom, full-time member her church, and full-time friend and sister in Christ. She’s also soon to be a student again, as she’s starting this fall at Bethlehem College and Seminary getting her Masters in exegesis and theology.   Today we chatted about REST! On today’s episode of the Journeywomen podcast, I had the true joy of chatting with Abigail Dodds, someone I’ve admired from afar as I’ve read her articles for Desiring God and followed along with her life via Instagram. Abigail is married to Tom and mom of five kiddos ranging from age 14 to 4. She’s a part-time writer, part-time Bible study teacher, part-time homeschool teacher, part-time baker, gardener, and knitter. But she would tell you she’s a full-time Christian, a full-time wife and mom, full-time member her church, and full-time friend and sister in Christ. She’s also soon to be a student again, as she’s starting this fall at Bethlehem College and Seminary getting her Masters in exegesis and theology. Today we chatted about REST!
