Today on the Tales of a Red Clay Rambler Podcast I have an interview with figure sculptor Tip Toland. In the interview we talk about her 2014 Portland Art Museum exhibition, which featured Tanzanian children that are both revered and persecuted because they have Albinism. For the exhibition Toland created twelve larger than life size busts that show the complex emotional landscape of persecuted peoples. You will hear Tip Toland, Patti Warashina and Wally Bivins discuss making substantial and meaningful art. The wide ranging conversations looks at the role of passion, conviction and commitment in nurturing and maintaining an artist’s spirit over a lifetime of creative activity.   As a quick point of reference Richard Notkin was scheduled to be on this panel but unfortunately could not be in attendance that day. He was missed and as you will hear was spoken of fondly during the event. Both Richard Notkin and Patti Warishina will be featured as demonstrators for the 2016 NCECA conference in Kansas City, MO.
