Jess Van Ness (JVN) is a rising artist in the underground electronic music scene and achieved #1 Local Artist (#3 Regional) on Reverb Nation. Twist, Cor Fijneman, Armin van Buuren, Eddie Halliwell, Producers: Push (aka M.I.K.E), Oliver Lieb (aka LSG), Transa, Hybrid, Boris Brejcha, Mark Marzenit, DAVI, Worakls, Robert Miles, David MoralesLabels: Moonshine, Bonzai, Discover, Bedrock, Mystique Music, Green Marian, Frisky, Reset Records, Dirty BirdElectronic Acts: The Prodigy, Depeche Mode, Trentemoller, Radiohead, Moby, LCD Soundsystem, Gary Numan, Nine Inch Nails, Assemblage 23, VNV Nation, Mindless Self Indulgence Jess also has a few experimental side/future projects; Decibel System (Music Production), Sue Da Fed (Hardcore/Hardstyle Dj), Transit (Trance & Electrofusion Radio) so be sure to check those out. If you’re an independent artist and want share your music, please message us. For information on upcoming shows, check Reverb Nation: https://www.reverbnation.com/jessvannessA note from Jess:“I remember when I was first bit by the electronica bug at age 4. Hearing Giorgio Moroder’s “The Chase” from Midnight Express. That song stuck with me for years! Over time, I listen to a lot of early electronic influenced bands such as Depeche Mode early Ministry but it wasn’t until 1992 when I heard The Prodigy’s “The Experience” album while living in Germany that I found that feeling again. Sadly, I moved back to the states shortly after where they were behind the times on electronic music and had to search for this amazing music. It took a few years but I finally found the underground raves scene in the mid 90’s and the rest has been history.” – Jess Van Ness

No dumb radio voice overs every 5 minutes like the other DJs, and nice long mixes to get into the zone with. There's a variety of genre as well, but it's specific to each mix so you can pick and chose. It's a nice option for the listener.

Rank #1: Retrospective - Vol I - April 2017 Promo Mix - Desert Rave, PsyTrance, Trance & Breaks Set

Podcast cover
Read more
Kicking spring off with a desert party / psytrance Inspired set and infused with breaks, trance, and some old anthems spanning three decades.

Retrospective is the first of a series to pay homage to amazing tracks of yesterday. Volume I is heavily inspired by the Moonshine label and its great artists such as Brian Seed and John Kelley that helped create the desert party scene of Southern California, WAY before Burning Man. If you had a chance to experience Dune, Orion, or any of the Moontribe parties, you know what I'm talking about. It also includes epic tracks from Transa, L.S.G., Liquid Art, and Underworld.

A big thank you to Brian Seed and John Kelley! Your artistry has forever shaped how I would view music and to paint sets as a journey. I highly recommend Hardesertrance and Funkydesertrance series if you haven't heard them previously. Timeless classics!

Enjoy!
