God’s Calling Card

  Unless we understand and embrace the nature of God’s love and God’s grace in our lives, we can never overcome the guilt, shame, and fear of our mistakes and failures. The good news is that if we understand and embrace God’s grace and our identity in Jesus, it turns out that nothing else is necessary for the abundant life the Lord promises us. Let’s look at a life that was strangled by arrogance only to be turned around by a relationship with Jesus. Jesus said to Zacchaeus, “I’m coming to your house today.” And as Zacchaeus welcomes Jesus into his home and into his heart, Jesus says, “Salvation has come to this house today.” It’s an amazing story, but in many ways it is also a story of hospitality and the story of Christmas. Even Jesus seemed to call the Canaanite Woman a “dog” because she wasn’t part of the House of Israel. What is going on here?
