Happy Full House Friday Everyone,Angela Bowen here, the host of Oh Mylanta Holy Chalupas: An Unofficial Full House Fuller House Podcast.Today, I'm kicking off for July The Almost Break-Up Double Feature with Full House S3E3: Breaking Up Is Hard To Do (In 22 Minutes), with aired on October 6, 1989.In this episode Steph loses a tooth in an apple and decides to spoil the tooth fairy with milk and cookies. Michelle celebrates a new sandbox in the garden with a selfish attitude to toys. Danny reacts very casual and even imitates her when a tool of his is in the hands of a boy. Jesse refuses ever to ride a horse again and Becky in return will stay away when Jesse plays with his band.I enjoyed this episode. Jesse being selfish and always has to be right or win an argument, Becky calls him out on it. They decide to part ways when they can't compromise or agree to disagree since Jesse's got a my way or the highway attitude. Lucky for us true love prevails and they work it out.Speaking of attitude, Michelle's got a case of the mine's and gimme's when it comes to a playdate with other kids at her new sandbox in the backyard. Danny doesn't help matters by clearly demonstrating where Michelle picks up this bad habit. Joey saves the day by pointing out we gotta nip this problem where it counts before it gets worse. Henceforth comes the pass the pancake trend of 1989 at the breakfast table the next morning, Sharing is caring after all.Can't forget Stephanie and her rite of passage moment losing a tooth  (not her first btw) as we seeing some missing bottom teeth. But the way she goes on about you'd think it was her first and Danny/Tooth Fairy sure gifts her like it is when (supposedly accidently) leaves her $20 under her pillow.Which everyone reacts to like it's a crisp $100 fresh off the printing press. I get it, when I was 7 in 1989 I would have reacted that way too. Seeing Kim in a new environment. We got to see a new side of Kim and sometimes we make new friends in unexpected places. I couldn't believe how Dean couldn't see how Kim's so called friends were using him to pump info out of him about Kim and her relationship with Kwame her sometimes boyfriend.Even Dean's friends could see it when they were at the diner with him. Happy Full House Friday Everyone,Angela Bowen here, the host of Oh Mylanta Holy Chalupas: An Unofficial Full House Fuller House Podcast.Today, I covered the last episode in the Father's Day Series, Full House S7E7: High Anxiety, which aired on October 26, 1993.In this episode Michelle wants Danny to stop treating her like a baby. Jesse can't make decisions about the renovation of his club.I think out of all the three episodes I covered for this series, this episode was the one that Danny got on my nerves the most, especially when it came to that ugly hat that looked like it belonged on the head of an antiqued stuffed bear from the 1920s. GAH, that hat was ugly!He kept insisting, practically forcing Michelle to wear it. I mean he actually came to her school, so he could put it on her head in front of her friends and classmates. He humiliated her.Granted he did bring her lunch that she left behind. The second plot with Jesse being overwhelmed with all the choices of new fixtures for the Smash Club. I felt for him, but he really needed to prioritize his responsibilities and focus on one at a time, then go to the next decision to make. Plus he has a house full of people that could help him.I want a red colored toilet so bad, or electric blue or teal. Do they make those? Happy Full House Friday Everyone,Angela Bowen here, the host of Oh Mylanta Holy Chalupas: An Unofficial Full House Fuller House Podcast.Today, I covered the second episode in the Father's Day Series, Full House S6E10: I'm Not DJ, which aired on December 1, 1992.In this episode Stephanie wants to pierce her ears so she can wear real earrings like her friends, the two Jennifers. Danny forbids her from doing so until she begins junior high, just like D.J. Steph doesn't want to wait and is so desperate, she turns to Kimmy Gibbler for help, whose brother just happens to work in an earring shop.I enjoyed this episode. The two Jennifers got on my ever loving nerve, and I couldn't understand why Stephanie wanted so desperately to be accepted my them. I agree with Michelle when she looked at the two girls and came to the conclusion "They don't look cool" You're right Michelle, it's because they're not.They were putting down Stephanie's fashion (sunglasses) and her clip on earring, and because those girls thought her things were lame, Stephanie immediately rejects them, like oh if there not good enough for the Jennifers, then I want nothing more to do with them.The side plot with Jesse giving the boys haircuts due to again the two Jennifers wreak havoc on the Tanner house (they refer to Nicky and Alex as cute little girls). I swear I about lose my mind in anger at this.Dave Coulier in this episode has a duel role as Joey's Uncle Jasper the owner of Kiddie Kuts, the children's barber shop.Kimmy has no business using a piercing gun on Stephanie's ears without Danny's permission. Also I don't think she sterilized or disinfected the piercing gun needle before hand either, who knows what body part was last pierced with that thing. No wonder Steph's ears get infected. Meanwhile, Becky teaches the gang to square dance.I enjoyed this episode. Michelle learned a valuable lesson when it comes to caring for a fish and DJ learned to not lower her standards to impression a boy that only cares about one thing... cars.Jesse also learned a lesson, sometimes it's best to compromise instead of argue. Your soon to be wife has family traditions that you may not be into or you think is old fashioned and out of style, but in the ends the future bride gets what she wants.The square dance was so much fun to watch as the family gets into it even though Jesse is being a royal stick in the mud, but by the end he has a smile on his face. The guys also have to explain death to Michelle when it comes to poor Martin the fish, who Michelle according to Joey saying fish like to be clean like people, she gives Martin a bath and the poor fish passes away. I mean and DJ even tells him "if I have a problem and I can't handle it, I will come to you".Until then let her handle it Danny.I mean, really, what was he going to do, go down to the school and give Todd Mitchell a lecture on respecting women and no means no.Stephanie and Michelle adjust to being roommates. Hey Wonderlings,Angela Bowen here, the host of Looking Back On My Wonder Years: A Wonder Years Podcast.Today, I cover S1E16: The Sleepover, which aired on March 16, 2022.In this episode when Dean learns that Corey's dad, Coach Long, is in the doghouse, he struggles to keep this secret from his friend.I really enjoyed this episode. Turns out Cliff's (Corey's Dad) secret that he was keeping from his wife and Corey wasn't as horrible as I thought. Hey Everyone,Angela Bowen here, the host of She's A Small Wonder: A Small Wonder Podcast.Today, I covered S2E17: Matchmaker, Matchmaker, which aired on January 31, 1987.In this episode Jamie starts a dating service to pay for a bicycle.Wow, like that sentence doesn't spell disaster.This was a weird episode that got really kind of uncomfortable for me at the end.We also get a reprising character from Season 1, Ernie the bully.He's taller, meaner, and can still threaten to beat Jamie's a$$ any day of the week.Jamie is soo stupid in this episode, why would you buy a used bike from your former bully and by the word buy I mean, put a down payment of $10 and not have a plan to pay the other $100 you still owe.He starts a dating service for 12 year olds.One kid has a mad thing for Marilyn Monroe, WTH!It's 1987, there weren't any girls on TV or supermodels or someone younger this kid Herbert could have a crush on like Alyssa Milano from Who's The Boss. Granted, that show was only in it's 3rd Season at the time this episode aired, but at least she would be closer to his age and more believable that a 1950's Hollywood starlet icon.Just by this dialogue in this episode you can tell the writers are old men, writing for 12 year olds. Maybe one of them had a massive thing for Marilyn Monroe.Join me next month when I cover S2E18: Little Miss Shopping Mall, which aired on February 7, 1987.In this episode Against Ted's wishes, Joan enlists Vicki into the "Little Miss Shopping Mall" Beauty Pageant. Jack is finding it hard to fathom Norma joining the workforce. What are the Arnold men to do? Take the girls out for a night of bowling, of course.Also in this episode I check on the SAT score that is required to get into Harvard and Yale.I also check to see in the company Norma works for is an actual company, Micro Electronics. She worked for a start up software company.The one I looked up is based in Ohio, most likely not the one she worked for.I have to say Kevin’s attitude towards Winnie is not surprising when she gets a higher SAT score than he does, I mean, we’re used to seeing Kevin overreact and blow his top, but the way Jack treated Norma, well, I’ll just say he earned that spot on the couch that night.Did he really not think after she got her degree that she would decide to actually use and get a job. A job that pays $2.25 an hour btw.Good for her!Later this week, I cover S6E20: Reunion, which aired on April 28, 1993.In this episode the Arnolds travel back to where Jack and Norma grew up to celebrate their high school reunion. But while Norma's parents are thrilled to see Norma, Kevin and Wayne, their enthusiasm for Jack isn't so pronounced.Have a great night everyone!

Listener Requested Episode: Hook (1991) Movie Review

Happy Full House Friday Tanner Fans,Angela Bowen here, the host of Oh Mylanta Holy Chalupas: An Unofficial Full House Fuller House Podcast.Here’s the next episode in the Full House Back To School Series Full House S6E6: Educating Jesse, which aired on October 27, 1992.In this episode DJ and Kimmy look to Joey and Jesse to be spokesman for their Stay In School Campaign.Jesse adamantly refuses and it isn’t until he is cornered in the kitchen by his family demanding to know his reasons for not helping that he blurts out “I can’t help you with your stay in school campaign, because I didn’t stay in school. I’m a drop out”I also look up famous high school drop outs, for example Albert Einstein.The family is shocked that Jesse kept this secret from them as are we the audience who saw Jesse in Season 4 go to his 10 year high school reunion.Becky does a little reversal psychology on Jesse and he tells her he’ll go back and retake that one English Class he needed in order to get his diploma and finally graduate high school.Turns out that stewed prune of a teacher that put Jesse in his place 10 years ago is still teaching and he remembers Jesse.Jesse gets way off on the wrong foot with this teacher if he's trying to prove that he's more mature and he's not the same delinquent from 10 years ago as the teacher Mr. Peterson thinks he is.Jesse starts cutting up in class trying to impress his classmates who chuckle nervously as he makes snide comments at the teacher's expense. The teacher ends up roasting Jesse after  he recites part of the poem "O Captain, My Captain by Walt Whitman, only to freeze like a deer in headlights when the teacher asks him what the poem means and Jesse just gleams the first few lines "there was a captain, a journey, which was finished, they all got out of the rack and they all won a prize"Nice interpretation there, Jess.I read the whole poem during this podcast episode and discover it is way longer the just the first paragraph Jesse recites, it is always very dark. Spoiler Alert, the captain dies.The teacher informs Jesse it's actually about Abraham Lincoln and Jesse jokingly asks "Why didn't they just call it "O Lincoln, My Lincoln".The teacher at this point has had enough of Jesse's antics and tells him to sit down carefully, so as not to hurt his brain, the class laughs uproariously and a humiliated Jesse instead of sitting down and shutting up, he asks for the pass and before walking out the door looks at Mr. Peterson and says "See you in another 10 years"Meanwhile Michelle is having difficulty learning to tie her shoes it doesn't help matters that Danny and Stephanie one up each other in battle of who can tie their shoe better or correctly and we get two shoe tying songs:The Tree Song and Bunny Boy Bunny Boy thanks to Becky who's jumped on the teaching Michelle to tie her shoes band wagon. I like  Bunny Boy, Bunny Boy better.I learned that there is a record out there for fastest shoe tier, set by a group of people in Singapore as of October of 2018, who participated in this event for a charity.We can't forget the plot that started Jesse on his back to school journey, Dj and Kimmy try to come up with a slogan for their school's Stay In School Campaign, it's a shame the other students don't get a say or maybe they could care less and left up to DJ to come up with a few and they can all vote on one.I also looked up some stay in school or school slogans. Especially if alcohol is added to the equation.And this episode let me tell ya is no different.Kevin gets drunk  trying to impress a bridesmaid, Jack’s boss can’t keep his paws off Norma until Jack finally threatens physical harm, Kevin practically gets mauled on the dance floor by someone's Aunt Muriel this drunk and horny old lady who wants Kevin to pick her up Dirty Dancing style (even though the movie wouldn't be out for another 15 years), turns out Wayne and the bride knocked boots previously. You heard it here folks, Wayne it turns out is NOT a virgin and apparently neither is the bride. Never did I get to the point that I felt like I wanted a nose job.Let me just say that as a teen or even at any age being called ugly that word cuts deep and it did for me especially when it comes from your peers.Love yourself because no one else can do it for you!

The Wonder Years: S6E6: White Lies

Hey Everyone,Angela Bowen here, and today I'm bringing you a special episode in honor of Teacher Appreciation Day, Boy Meets World S1E8: Teacher's Bet, which aired on November 19, 1993.In this episode Mr. Feeny makes a bet with Cory to teach his class for a week, if more students pass Cory wins, and if more students fail, Feeny wins.I really enjoyed this episode and felt it had a lot of positive points for us 90's kids when it came to talking about an important subject such as prejudice as we watch through the eyes of young Cory Matthews, as he's hit with an example of prejudice at home with his brother Eric's girlfriend Linda who's Asian after she is slammed with a derogatory term (for the show they just refer to it as bad name, but we all know what they mean) by some racist idiot at the mall and Cory's mind is blown after he just told his Dad, that prejudice is something that happened a long time ago like with Anne Frank and the Nazis. He really has no clue. His reality bubble is about to be burst.He finally reads the book and figures since he's the teacher now the only way to get these kid's to listen is to personally attack his best friend Shawn by calling him a "wop" which is a word that people used  as derogatory to Italian Americans.I remember it was used in the movie An Officer and a Gentleman with Richard Gere and Debra Winger. He called her a "wop".Shawn is equally hurt and offended to the point of slamming Corey against the classroom door, threatening to knock his head off and that's when Corey schools him and the rest of the class informing them how in the days of Anne Frank and Nazi Germany you could be killed just based on your race, skin color and religion, or even just based on your mother's last name.Corey finally gets the kids to see the light, read the book and hopefully pass the test. Thus learning that it's not so easy being a teacher.The episode gives just enough info to the viewers but not enough to frighten them completely, figuring if the kids want to know more they can seek out information at the local library.Today, we have so many books, middle grade and young adult alike that can help educate kids and maybe even help them relate to characters that are facing the problems of prejudice and racism as well as deportation. Hey Tanner Fuller Gibbler Fans,Angela Bowen here, the host of Oh Mylanta Holy Chalupas: An Unofficial Full House Fuller House Podcast.Today I decided to cover Fuller House S1E5: Mad Max, which aired on December 9, 2016 in honor of Elias Harger's (Max Fuller) Birthday today.In this episode when an old friend whisks her away for a concert and after-hours fun, Stephanie realizes just how much her nephews mean to her. Kimmy finds D.J. a date. Max has pre-stage fright about his upcoming musical recital until Stephanie loans her "magic" scarf to him giving him a confidence boost, granted all that bravado goes out the window after Stephanie leaves taking the scarf with her.Stephanie wanting to make things right over the phone has Max play for Coachella's audience thus restoring his confidence. Meanwhile Kimmy's been on a man hunt as she peruses the dating sites to get DJ back in the dating scene. She brings one of the prospects back to the Tanner House and hilarity ensues as there is a mix up because DJ also called a plumber to fix the toilet upstairs after Ramona flushes one of Tommy's diapers down it. Lots of cray cray innuendos for us adults as DJ misinterprets a confused Tyler cues(the dating website guy) as she leads him upstairs to fix the toilet.Lastly, Stephanie feels as if she's missing out on her nephews lives and that the party scene is getting old. A tearful Stephanie reveals to DJ that she is unable to have children. Hey Tanner Fuller Gibbler Fans, Angela Bowen here, the host of Oh Mylanta Holy Chalupas: An Unofficial Full House Fuller House Podcast. Today I decided to cover Fuller House S1E5: Mad Max, which aired on December 9, 2016 in honor of Elias Harger's (Max Fuller) Birthday today. In this episode when an old friend whisks her away for a concert and after-hours fun, Stephanie realizes just how much her nephews mean to her. Kimmy finds D.J. a date. Max has pre-stage fright about his upcoming musical recital until Stephanie loans her "magic" scarf to him giving him a confidence boost, granted all that bravado goes out the window after Stephanie leaves taking the scarf with her. Stephanie wanting to make things right over the phone has Max play for Coachella's audience thus restoring his confidence. Meanwhile Kimmy's been on a man hunt as she peruses the dating sites to get DJ back in the dating scene. She brings one of the prospects back to the Tanner House and hilarity ensues as there is a mix up because DJ also called a plumber to fix the toilet upstairs after Ramona flushes one of Tommy's diapers down it. Lots of cray cray innuendos for us adults as DJ misinterprets a confused Tyler cues(the dating website guy) as she leads him upstairs to fix the toilet. Lastly, Stephanie feels as if she's missing out on her nephews lives and that the party scene is getting old. A tearful Stephanie reveals to DJ that she is unable to have children.
