How will global political and regulatory uncertainties impact Asia-Pacific region in 2018?

The Asia-Pacific region's financial intelligence agencies recently met up in Kuala Lumpur to tackle the complex and evolving CTF landscape. The backdrop to the four-day CTF Summit was the spread of ISIS-linked extremists across the region. The five-month siege in Marawi has acted as a  call-to-arms for all ASEAN countries, as well as Australia and New Zealand. The Summit heard that FIUs would have to become far more tech-savvy and interlinked to detect terrorism financing and to pre-empt national security threats.

Thomson Reuters Risk Report: Counter-terrorism intelligence

For a year now the world's 20 largest swaps dealers have had to meet new regulatory margin requirements for their non-cleared trades. These rules were expanded to cover the vast majority of market participants — the so-called "phase two" derivatives users — on September 1, 2017. But many swaps dealers are still struggling with the reforms – most notably with the new variation margin (or VM) requirements for non-centrally-cleared derivatives.
