Cesar Pelafox: With the game streaming future being possible on the horizon, how much would you pay a month to get access to all games released each month?

Emmett Watkins Jr.: So as the biggest Titanfall 2 fan in the tri-state area, Apex Legends has me conflicted. I really dig the game, but the fact we won’t get a proper TF3 for longer now makes me sad. Have you all ever found yourself in a similar situation with a dev leaving a popular franchise?

Chase Williams: I often feel like I am “trapped” in my surroundings when online. As if I can’t break out of a specific cohort of people or interact with new faces, perspectives, and topics. How do you guys keep your social experience fresh online and expose yourself to new ideas and lifestyles?

Ed: How bad is Jump Force going to be?

Chris Nelson: On the subject of “okay“ games, have either of you guys played 25 To Life for Xbox and PS2? It was GTA five before its time.  Also, Marc Ecko’s Getting Up vs. 50 Cent: Bulletproof?

Barrett Courtney: 1. When we squading up?
2. What is your dream Star Wars game?
3. Out of the four big games coming out on Friday, what are you going to play first/most of?

Ryan Othman:  You both comprise two thirds of an Apex Legends squad as yourselves (not an Apex Legend) in that universe. Which legend fills out your squad and why?

Zachary Davis: Now that both Activision and EA have entered the battle royale space, how quickly do you think Ubisoft will also enter that market? What form might their battle royale game take? Will it be a completely new IP, or will it piggyback off one of their existing franchises?

What’s Up:

The OK Beast Podcast crew played the following games this week: Pokemon Sword & Pokemon Shield, Jedi: Fallen Order, and Death Stranding

Listener Questions (Tweet Us or Email Hello@OKBeast.com):

Mathew Verley: What are your thoughts on Fallen Order not only getting snubbed for this year’s Game Awards, but also next year’s?

Andrew Festner: You must plan a 3 game marathon. The only stipulations are that they must share a story theme in common and cannot be within the same franchise. For example, God of War, The Last of Us and Telltale’s The Walking Dead can have fatherhood be their thematic connection.

Pedro Venegas: What are your plans for Black Friday? I always love looking through the Black Friday ads and looking for some good deals

Insipid Ghost: Do you expect Jedi: Fallen Order helps EA to keep the Star Wars license when their contract is up or is it likely to become distributed on an individual game basis?

Aydin Chamberlin: If you could only buy one of the recent major releases (Death Stranding, Fallen Order and Pokemon mainly) for the foreseeable future, which game would you choose?

Zach Davis: Haven’t got a chance to play Jedi yet, but the gameplay looks great. How does the story (with as few spoilers as possible) compare to other Star Wars games, specifically Jedi-focused ones like the Jedi Knight and Force Unleashed games?

Ben Bellevue: What part of the game do you connect with most? The characters, the plot, the gameplay, just being in the world of Star Wars? Is there a part you don’t really jive with?

John Bernardo: Do you feel that if Jedi fallen order wasn’t a Star Wars game, it would have the same acclaim ? Personally for me it being in the universe is what kept it fresh for me

John Maddock: What difficulty are you playing jedi fallen order on? And what color is your lightsaber?

Brian Jackson: How to do you personally feel Jedi is compared to other Souls games? Do you feel Jedi is a more streamlined version of those games and is it that a good/bad thing? Does it showcase why you like/dislike other Souls game? Do you feel the difficulty slider should be in those games?

Ryan Othman: Thoughts on the new pokemon designs? I really like them

Dylan Tierney: Favorite Gen 8 Pokemon? I’m a big fan of Toxitricity, it literally has a lead guitar form and a bass guitar form.

Chris Nelson asks, “What’s a game/franchise that has lore that pulls you in but gameplay/genre that pushes you away?”

Chase Williams asks, “Last week I submitted a question which asked how you all approach the conversation around the expressive nature of videogames. Your responses separated criticism along two poles: Gameplay description on one side, and social aspects as expression on the other. My question this week is: why was the “social” aspect so quickly connected with the word expressive? What aspects of expression exist outside the contextual component of works? How do we approach critical game analysis without adopting the perspective of an anthropologist?”

Listener Questions (Tweet Us or Email Hello@OKBeast.com):

Andrew Cogswell asks, “Nintendo has a stacked last half of the year with no release dates on games that are supposed to arrive in 2019. Do any of them get pushed to 2020 and if so which ones? Do you expect us to see any big surprises similar to Metroid Prime 4 or Luigi 3 from Nintendo? If so, what? – To save you guys time, were supposed to see Animal Crossing, Pokemon, Luigis Mansion, Astral Chain, and Link’s Awakening before the end of the year.”

Clint Gilmore asks, “What franchise do you want to see Sony bring to the big screen? Can we please get an 8 Mile style movie with Parappa the Rapper?”

Paul Warren asks, “If you were design, which one would you do: 1) fine-tune mechanics and make a story around it, or 2) write a great story and then design the mechanics around that?”
