Jake was a lot of things to a lot of people, clear from the hundreds of tributes written in Facebook and other social media platforms since the announcement. He was an incredibly influential magician and author, having given us Grimorium Verum, Geosophia, the Testament of Cyprian the Mage, Goetic Liturgy, Thus Spake Magnus Dictus and the Rosicrucifixion, amongst others. He also worked on each issue of Hadean Press’ Conjure Codices. His laser-focus on relationships with spirits incited an entire generation of practitioners to a more thoughtful approach. He was a serious researcher and adept, a magical experimentalist while retaining both feet in a foundation of history and literature. Amusingly, to discover his sources, we often had to inquire personally about them. The bad part was that we couldn’t just dig through his references, the good part was that when you asked him, he would provide a stunning background and a thorough understanding of anything he’d ever written. Jake was one of Thelema Now's favorite authors to interview because he was so damnably funny and ridiculously charming. We at Thelema, Now! wish Jake the best of future adventures. Verónica Rivas (Melong Yeshe) is an Uruguayan author and researcher based in Brazil. Her cosmological and anthropological studies in magical practices among Eastern cultures led her to become interested in healing techniques. The people interviewed are doing very interesting work, but the quality of the audio is terrible. I can barely understand what anyone is saying, and the conversations are quite awkward. The interviewers appear to be unprepared and more invested in their own ideas rather than the ideas of the people they are interviewing. As magicians, I expect more. It’d probably help if everyone was in the same room, rather than on a phone call... The idea of this show is so brilliant, please do something to improve the quality of sound.

Poor Quality

This is my favorite podcast. Harper Feist does such probing and entertaining interviews with her guests, which are informative a lots of fun. And the guests are great. My favorites are the interviews with Peter Mark Adams and Carl Abrahamsson, but I like them all. Some authors make the rounds when they have a new book, but Feist is able to get her guests to share a little more that I greatly enjoy. I have not found another interview of this depth with Rain Al-Amin, which is another favorite. And it keeps getting better!

At 400 pages, this release is significantly expanded from the original 2006 limited edition. Kowal in Detroit; the newspaper accounts that followed in their wake; and the legacy of the lost crate of rare Crowley books. The Dionysian themed frescos of Pompeii’s Villa of the Mysteries constitute the single most important theurgical narrative to have survived in the Western esoteric tradition. No other practitioner account of the ritual process for conducting a mystery rite has survived down to today. The frescoes’ vivid and allusive imagery illuminates both the ritual activity of the participants as well as its esoteric import.  Check it out!
