Behind the Art Inspiration podcast: The Art of Expressive Living with DC-based Marni Ratner

I can’t believe another month has gone, and I am so grateful for all the stories shared the last two months, where we learned so much about managing loss and grief. This month will be dedicated to discussing suicide awareness, and I’m so happy to have the first guest to discuss this topic, Marni Ratner. Marni Ratner lost her husband to suicide in 2009 and suddenly became the breadwinner for her two children ages 3 and 7 at the time. Through early grief counseling and a large network of extended family and friends, her kids are now thriving young adult with her oldest recently going off to college. Eleven years after her husband’s death, Marni finds strength in mentoring new widows and is also a strong proponent of suicide prevention. Marni has been active in several widow support groups, some formal organizations, and others more casual. The most memorable being as a founding member of a local group called 180 Your Life, which is more experience-focused and strives to embrace exercise and a healthy lifestyle. Their first event was training for the Athleta Irongirl Sprint Triathlon. Their team of young widows was sponsored by Athleta, who even outfitted the team with custom uniforms. Don’t Fear Talking About Suicide, Break the Stigma (Marni Ratner)

First and foremost an energy mover: A healer, educator, artist, storyteller, good-life advocate, and ‘chiropractor to the soul’, (meaning I realign the blockages that disturb the natural flow of ones energy).I own a woman’s meet up called ‘wine ‘n chi’  When we get together and talk about wholeness and mindfulness and getting the most out of life. It’s where women put themselves first. I would Love to talk about starting businesses and empowering ourselves. I also would like to talk about how we are always having an energetic conversation exchange and we need to listen to that energy first rather than listening to the words. Another thing I would like to talk about but the cyclical nature and history of spiritualism as a commodity.
