Graduating from the Naval Academy in 1984, he went off to flight school to become a helicopter pilot. He commanded the Sea Hawk to fend off Soviet submarines during the Cold War and the HSL-44 Swamp Fox Squadron in Florida.He was able to work with thousands of folks in serving the country, then moved on to take government positions typically chosen by senior marine officers.“While it was a really great opportunity for me, it wasn’t really the right fit. I wasn’t finding myself fulfilled in the sense of purpose that I had had when I was on active duty.” - John FunkThis is when John decided to admit to himself that he needed to look for something else.  What Sealed the DealJohn remembers not having an awful time when he transitioned, all thanks to the privilege of having a wide network of support available for him as a senior officer. She aspires to one day write a song that someone might need like that.  Like a crowbar.  Like a hoe.
