A Time Of Birds: Cycling Across Europe To Istanbul With Helen Moat

Author and travel journalist Helen Moat joins us for this special episode for her virtual launch of A Time of Birds. We hear short readings from her epic cycle journey across Europe, when she pedalled from the Netherlands to Turkey on her sit-up-and-beg bike, and then she tells us how she's faring in this Corona time, and about birds, nature, kindness and community.

Christmas seems ages ago and we're back into work like nothing happened. This week we have an interview with Helen Moat, author, blogger, ex teacher and long distance cyclist for a chat about her life growing up in Northern Ireland in the height of the troubles and her work to get us all to slow down a little and enjoy the beauty of Derbyshire. For music, we are joined by Frank Power from Switzerland. Frank or Dino as he's known travelled from his home just outside of Zurich to play his second gig at Designate at the Gate in Matlock. Using my new trusty out side broadcasting gear I managed to grab a few songs in front of a live audience.
