For the past 15 years, she’s pursued opportunities to use the tools in yoga and mindfulness in private &amp; public education, substance use centers, with youth with multiple obstacles to success, and with children with special needs. She has partnered with social workers, therapists, researchers, and educators to create content that supports children’s social and emotional wellness. Julie also teaches with Sea Change Yoga to provide yoga to historically excluded and oppressed populations. In all environments, she cultivates a judgment-free space that is grounded in her own journey of self-love and acceptance. She has been published in The New York Times, Elephant Journal, Insight Timer Meditation, and Gaiam Meditation apps. Yoga, anxiety and working with kids with Julie Campilio

What if there was a simple and effective tool that could help children who suffer from trauma, kids who put too much pressure on themselves, those with special needs, and perhaps kids who have been bullied.  Something that could help the child while also helping the teacher. Yoga and mindfulness helped her overcome years of panic attacks and medication, so she founded Radiant Beginnings Yoga to help others focus naturally and manage stress in their own lives. While teaching in 2008, she saw an immediate change in students who were having difficulty self-regulating and managing stress. Watching students shift from anxious, impulsive and unfocused to calm and focused is what drove her to share holistic self-coping strategies through yoga and mindfulness. Julie Campilio is joined by two of her students, Tessa and Catherine, who are here to talk about the power that yoga has in helping young kids deal with stress. Julie struggled with anxiety since she was a child. Yoga and mindfulness helped Julie overcome years of panic attacks, so she founded Radiant Beginnings Yoga to help students aged 2-18 cope with stress in their own lives.
