We chat with Byron Bradley, chef and instructor at the Southern Food &amp; Beverage Museum, on this Independence Day-themed episode. Bradley discusses how this ever-present communal form of cooking has evolved in the south, and what he’s learned from his students at the museum about barbecue’s impact on their lives.

Chef Byron talks to us about using culinary as a platform for discussion, as a conduit for changing perceptions about race and beyond. We also discuss the importance and efficacy of these efforts in the context of the Black Lives Matter movement and in the wake of the George Floyd case.
