Jill DeTemple is my guest today. She’s an associate professor of religious studies at Southern Methodist University. She uses a technique called reflective structured dialogue to enable students to express their perspectives on contentious moral and religious issues.

Often times, in today's society, "winning" an argument is defined as exposing the counterargument to be wrong and commonly results in severing the relationship. After sitting down with Dr. Jill TeDemple, professor of religious studies at SMU, we learned that actually "winning" an argument means seeking to understand, hearing both sides of the argument and being curious about people's beliefs. Truly winning promotes unity between all people no matter their opposing beliefs.
