Olivia Sebesky is a multimedia art director and motion graphics designer specializing in live entertainment. She has designed for artists and brands including James Taylor, Aerosmith, Hootie &amp; The Blowfish, Darius Rucker, Simone Biles, Nike, Bloomberg, Peloton, Soho House, TEDTalks, NY Fashion Week, &amp; MDLBeast Soundstorm. Olivia was chosen as one of Live Design’s 30 Under 30, and most recently, her work was featured in “Like a Woman,” a documentary about women who are breaking barriers working in male-dominated professions. Kerstin Larissa Hovland is a post-disciplinary artist specializing in pixels, programming, and light for music and performance. She has served as adjunct faculty in both the Video for Performance and Art &amp; Technology programs at California Institute of the Arts. Hovland is a co-founder and principal artist at Electronic Countermeasures, a Los Angeles-based firm specializing in immersive experiences and environments of all shapes, sizes, and mediums. She’s worked with The Foo Fighters, Beck, The 1975, Alt-J, &amp; Paul McCartney. Colleen Wittenberg is a disguise programmer and operator &amp; a LED technician. She has worked for John Mayer, U2, Aerosmith, Carrie Underwood, Smashing Pumpkins, the Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Coldplay, &amp; Janet Jackson.

Olivia Sebesky, Kerstin Hovland, Colleen Wittenberg - From Paul McCartney to the Foo Fighters!

This week we are sitting down with Projection Designer and bespectacled wonder-woman Olivia Sebesky! She is currently a Knight of Illumination nominee for her work on the lastest Aerosmith concert and she's here to tell us the journey of that design including a 35-minute preshow retrospective of the band and the massive undertaking of clearing all the rights for every frame of footage. She's also sharing stories about her other recent concert designs including Hootie and the Blowfish and James Taylor. Cory and Olivia discuss her theatrical work on shows like 'Jerry Springer' and 'Me...Jane' and discuss a whole host of topics facing projection designers including content budgets, software costs, to program or not, how she divides up the work among her team, and how to find the balance of how much video to incorporate into a show. She tells us how (friend of the show!) Justin Townsend may be responsible for her career and why by the time you listen to this, she will have spent some quality time with a Beluga whale!
