This week Shelbourne's high profile signing Saoirse Noonan and Athlone Town debutant Muireann Devaney join Stephanie Roche and Breifne Earley to chat about their conflicting experiences on the opening day of the SSE Airtricity League Women's National League season.Stephanie talks through each of the four games played on Saturday including her own Peamount side's late win down in Wexford, Becky Cassin's long range strike to level matters after Rachel Kearns had given Galway the advantage with a first half hat trick and Bohemians blistering start to the campaign with goals aplenty against Treaty United.Our main focus this week is the final game of the weekend between a new look Athlone Town and last season's runners up Shelbourne with each of our guests lining up against each other in the midfield just a few days ago. Saoirse talks about commuting from Cork to Dublin for training, clocking up the miles in the car and her ambitions for breaking into Vera Pauw's senior international squad. She also discusses her move from Cork City and some of the options she had in Iceland and the UK and the impact the coronavirus had on her decision at the time. Athlone's debutant Muireann Devaney joins us to discuss her first taste of senior Women's National League action. An experienced underage international who's starred for Sligo Rovers in the U17 grades in recent seasons, she's been involved with the home based senior interational sessions in recent weeks. She outlines her own senior international ambitions although by her own admission she's got a few steps ahead of her before that becomes a reality.Both girls talk about the choice between featuring in the Women's National League and for Cork and Leitrim in Ladies Gaelic Football where both girls represented their counties last season.

It's a full house on the Leitrim sporting front this weekend with Leitrim Footballers, Hurlers and Ladies Footballers in action, we're talking to a member of each squad as well as previewing the SSE Airtricity League as well as featuring some of our up and coming international athletes.  Breifne will be previewing the soccer action with both Sligo Rovers first home game against St. Patrick's Athletic and Longford Town starting their season against Shamrock Rovers at home on Saturday.  Donal Wrynn who's relishing his return to the Leitrim footballers ranks looks back at the opening three games in Division 3 of the Football League and the upbeat mood in the camp ahead of the arrival of fellow relegation candidates Offaly on Sunday in what looks like a must win game.  Leitrim Hurler Liam Moreton joined Breifne to chat about the victory over Cavan last weekend despite the last minute changes to the venue and time and the hopes ahead of this weekend's visit to Sligo on Sunday afternoon.  Karen Connolly takes about the earlier start for the Leitrim Ladies this seasons and they have stepped up by taking Division 4 by storm with two very straight forward victories over Antrim and Derry so far. Louth should prove a tougher test in the National League on Sunday afternoon in Cooley in the wee county. She's talking about competition for places, increased firepower and driving the distances involved in intercounty sport.  Breifne previews the local SSE Airtricity League with Sligo Rovers at home in The Showgrounds for the first time this season while Longford Town start their campaign with the visit of Shamrock Rovers 'B' in the First Division.  The Bit O'Red's Chief Executive Officer Colin Feehily joins Breifne to discuss developments in Sligo including the addition of a stronger Leitrim connection with Avantcard now across the jersey as the main sponsor for the 2012 league champions. He's talking about other new arrivals and the emergence of Leitrim Village's Niall Morahan as a mainstay in the first team squad.  Longford Town manager Daire Doyle outlines how his charges will be hoping to get on in the First Division campaign as they target a title challenge after attracting some big names including the division's top scorer Rob Manley from Cabinteely for the season ahead.   He's talking to us about the recent issues with the withdrawal of Limerick, the inclusion of Shamrock Rovers Reserves and the fixtures debacle.  In the same month as she lifted a Connacht gaelic football title with her school, St. Clares Comprehensive, and made her senior intercounty debut against Antrim, Muireann Devaney gives us a look inside the Women's Under 17 International Soccer squad after her starring role with the side in Waterford with two drawn games against Iceland last weekend.  Not to be outdone her club and school team mate Hannah Johnston is also making waves in green with a call up to the Irish U18 Rugby squad for their tour in Scotland this weekend. We find out all about her experience of the development of the game locally, across the province and how she keeps all the balls in the air balancing both codes.
