On a recent trip to Miami, FL. I had the opportunity to tour the OrthoNow Flagship franchise. I was not only blown away by the business model but the staff and the founder himself Dr Alejandro Badilla, all were huge proponents of smart medicine. Why do we call it smart medicine? Let take for an example a friend playing soccer. She sprains her foot badly in a game. Unable to walk on it, her friends drive her to the ER. The wait is extraordinary on a busy weekend and since her injury is not life-threatening, she waits a bit longer. Once she gets in and sees a doctor (ER trained), they do an X-ray and give an air cast for the ankle. Every Physical Therapist reading this blog knows that this is how they come to us after 2-3 weeks in pain and now they have complaints of knee and back pain. So let's take a look at OrthoNow...
