Today I'm joined by philosopher Aaron Rabinowitz of Embrace the Void and Philosophers in Space to discuss the some revelations about James Lindsay's organization "New Discourses." If you're a long time listener, you'll remember James Lindsay from this show back when he didn't totally suck. Well he now very much sucks, and to no one's surprise, he's being propped up by right wing Christian Nationalist Michael O'Fallon. PZ Myers has a good writeup of it on his blog. Aaron and I talk about that, our history with James, and what to make of all this.

In this episode of The Babylon Bee Podcast, editor-in-chief Kyle Mann and creative director Ethan Nicolle talk to James Lindsay, one of the actors involved with the Greivance Study Papers affair in which they got a bunch of peer-reviewed papers published by inserting woke language into stuff they just made up. They talk about the cult of wokeness, its ideology and its tactics, and also about how the landscape of Christianity is kind of like Narnia to an atheist.

Helen Pluckrose and James Lindsay join me to discuss the claim, made by a number of prominent public intellectuals, that what is called “postmodernism” is responsible for the authoritarian and hysterical politics coming out of college campuses. Unlike nearly all those intellectuals, Pluckrose and Lindsay have actually studied not only “social justice” and identity politics … Continue reading Unregistered 110: Helen Pluckrose and James Lindsay →

James Lindsay: Deep Dive Into “Critical Social Justice” & How It Took Over the Humanities [20200324]

American Thought Leaders
Episode artwork
Read more

To “expose the political corruption that’s taken hold of the university,” James Lindsay, Peter Boghossian, and Helen Pluckrose made headlines in 2018 with a series of hoax papers that were accepted in peer-reviewed journals.

Since then, Lindsay has made it his life’s mission to understand the ideas and theories underpinning what they dubbed “grievance studies.”

Just how are these identity-oriented academic fields rooted in deeply flawed methodologies?

And how has neo-Marxism and what Lindsay recently named “critical social justice” permeated the education system in America?

Lindsay documents his work on his website “New Discourses”, where a constantly updated “Social Justice Encyclopedia” can also be found.

This is American Thought Leaders 🇺🇸, and I’m Jan Jekielek.

The Truth About Critical Methods | James Lindsay

New Discourses

Dr. James Lindsay in his talk, “The Truth About Critical Methods,” makes very clear that Critical Social Justice is not the same thing as social justice. He argues that the branding of social justice, which is how Critical Social Justice promotes itself, misleads people about the nature of that movement.
