You’ve been hearing the wit and wisdom of Harry Shearer for the past four decades. Since 1983, Shearer has hosted and produced a weekly hourlong radio program, Le Show, that mixes news reports, interviews and music that can be equal parts referential and comedic. (It’s heard around the world on the radio or via podcasts.) […]

This week, Seamus interviews Michela Ledwidge, a virtual production director who has just helped Harry Shearer launch an album of satirical songs with Shearer shifting from his famous roles of The Simpsons and Spinal Tap into the tweeter-in-chief, Donald Trump. If it isn't freaky enough to watch these videos and see just how uncanny the deep fakery can be, especially when you have a voice artist like Harry behind the performance, the whole thing was produced across the great Pacific divide during coronavirus lockdowns. We talk about where it started, how it was produced between two Australian production companies (Michela's Mod studio and another Australian team, Electric Lens Company), how you manage directing a motion captured performance like this remotely, and what it means for the technology to be capable of pulling something like this off today. It's a fun and insightful conversation on the future of all kinds of digital production opportunities in a field where Mod has become a world leader in how to push the boundaries of what's possible. You can find the videos at Harry Shearer's YouTube channel and the full album, The Many Moods of Donald Trump, is on Spotify or wherever you get your new music.https://www.youtube.com/c/HarryShearerYT4U/videos See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
Harry Shearer Live On Game Changers With Vicki Abelson
Game Changers With Vicki Abelson
Now that's what I call early afternoon delight. Crazy fun with Harry Shearer, who was just as lovely as he is funneeeee! The Emmy-winning actor for his work on The Simpsons was laid back, tuned in, and willing to follow me everywhere. From his young early show biz days working with Jack Benny to Abbott and Costello, and Richard Burton, what? We talked the Credibility Gap, where he teamed with David Lander and Michael McKean. A lot fruit's been borne from that framily tree. Laverne & Shirley, Fernwood & America 2-Night, Fred Willard, Martin Mull, Norman Lear, SNL, two times, not so much like, either time, Spinal Tap, the most fun ever, well maybe along with the Mighty Wind. Working with Fred and Catherine O'Hara, Albert Brooks, Lorne Michaels, who told him he was his first "Jewish" boy cast hire, For Your Consideration, to The Simpsons, where he'e been for 32 years and 23 or os so characters later, garnering an Emmy-award. We crammed a lotta great in, before Harry's off to do a Porch Concert in New Orleans this afternoon at 3:30 PT, with his beloved fastastically talented wife, Judith Owen, and hot stuff percussionist, Pedro Segundo. https://www.facebook.com/officialjudithowen/ About to drop on October 30th, The Many Moods of Donald Trump (insert laugh here), is Harry's latest passion project. An album crammed with the funny and spectacular musis, and musicans. It swings. He's been dropping some advance videos, you can gain access to all here: https://harryshearer.com/ Here's hoping he'll come back for more chat, impressions, and maybe a song or two. Damn, I'm in a great mood. Some things, and people, are worth waiting for. I'll be watching this again.
