Hope holds great significance in our lives and can shape our attitudes, behaviors, and outcomes. As hope affects our physical, mental, and spiritual well-being, the absence of it can cause adverse results. For Christians, hope is not merely a positive emotion or wishful thinking but is deeply rooted in faith and trust in God's promises. Life is hard, but we don't have to give in to hopelessness. Though seasons of grief and sadness will come, it is possible, as Paul says in the Bible, to be “Sorrowful, yet always rejoicing” (2 Corinthians 6:10). This week, we’ll hear from neurosurgeon Dr. W. Lee Warren, who shares about what hopelessness can do to our minds and spirits, how he wrestled with the idea that we can have a hard life and still have an abundant life, and what he did to cope after tragically losing his son. Author Lily Taylor shares about the devastation she experienced when her son was sentenced to 10 years in prison, and how by keeping God at the center, she was able to hang on to hope for herself and her son. Lily was diagnosed at the age of 3 with high acute Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) in December 2017. Lily spent just over a month  Banner Children's @ Desert fighting to become stable in order to begin her outpatient treatment programs. Cancer Survivor at age 8 - Lily Taylor

This episode features a good friend of mine and a phenomenal athlete, Lily Taylor! Lily began playing squash at the age of 6 and experienced a lot of success at junior level. Lily has represented England many times and she was the top ranked under 19 player in the country. She continued her junior level success into her time at the University of the West of England from which she graduated with a degree in Business and Accounting last year. During her time at university, she became the World University Championships Women's Singles and team winner in 2018. A few months later she beat the #62 best player in the world to win the British University Championships. Following her graduation in the summer of 2019, Lily began her PSA, Professional Squash Association world tour in October 2019 which got off to a great start with her PSA title win in Norway that November. Earlier this year she reached her highest world senior ranking of 75th in the world and hopes to improve on that in the years to come.  Listen to Lily talk about her journey into this under-appreciated sport, how she wants it to develop and how her family, who lives and breathes squash has helped her into her professional journey. We talk about what it is like having her Dad as her coach, balancing sport and socialising, her battles with injury and overcoming mental health struggles to become the athlete she is today.
