Bart Pietrzak is the founder and owner of an incredible gym that opened in October of last year. Despite the challenges of running a business, Pietrzak describes his experience as the best ever. He attributes this success to his amazing staff and members, who have created a strong sense of community and positive energy within the gym. While the gym may appear intimidating on the surface, Pietrzak explains that everyone is friendly and approachable. To help maintain a positive environment, he developed a red bracelet that reads "Focused AF" to signal to others that the wearer does not wish to be approached or bothered. While this idea was originally intended to address a common problem at other gyms, Pietrzak has found that it is not necessary at his gym, where everyone is respectful of each other's space. Pietrzak believes in maintaining a healthy work-life balance, which he accomplishes by focusing on four pillars of life: fitness, finance, relationships, and mindset. He emphasizes the importance of being clear about one's goals and values in each area of life and striving to uphold those standards. For example, as a father, he cannot encourage his daughter to work hard and chase her dreams if he is not doing so himself. One of the most challenging aspects of running a business, according to Pietrzak, is sticking to one's belief system and having faith that it will lead to the desired outcome. He explains that it can be difficult to approach mistakes with understanding and calm, especially when one has strong feelings about a particular issue. Pietrzak also acknowledges that he tends to have a perfectionist mentality and can be reluctant to delegate tasks. However, he has found that giving his team the freedom to create their own standard operating procedures (SOPs) fosters a sense of ownership and pride in their work. For Pietrzak, his gym is an extension of himself. He strives to be purpose-driven and make decisions that align with his values and beliefs. He encourages others to do the same and to hold themselves and others accountable for their actions. Regarding nutrition, Pietrzak suggests listening to one's intuition and choosing a few whole foods that one enjoys rather than forcing oneself to eat all the "healthy" foods. He warns against eating processed foods and explains that many food companies are owned by big tobacco, which is skilled at getting people addicted to their products. Finally, Pietrzak offers advice to those starting from scratch. He emphasizes the importance of being resourceful and getting hands-on experience. This mindset has clearly served him well, as he has built a successful gym from the ground up.
