#87 Reading from A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle: The flowering of human consciousness
This episode is the first of a new format of readings from books which have been recommended to us and discussed on Going Conscious, and which I love and have been deeply moved by. The library on goingconscious.com is bursting with texts for us to explore, and we want to bring you some tasters from the mind expanding ideas they contain. I chose A New Earth to be the first book for us to read together as this is one of the books that has most profoundly inspired me personally, and has been widely recommended by Going Conscious guests. The section I choose to share with you today is pertinently relevant to this time of turbulence and the opportunities we can grasp for our own transformation. In this reading episode I share a short section of A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle which explores our inherited dysfunction, the arising of a new consciousness and the urgency of transformation. I know that thousands of people now listen to Going Conscious each week, and I would love to hear from you about what you’d like to hear more of and what you think of our new reading format. Do you want to hear more readings? Please let me know through Instagram DMs @nikkitrott - I’d love to hear from you! And thank you for being here with me each week and sharing the discoveries we find here together that guide our paths of freedom and impact. Ep183 - Eckhart Tolle | Living with Meaning, Purpose, and Wisdom in the Digital Age
Talks at Google
Eckhart Tolle is widely recognized as one of the most inspiring and visionary spiritual teachers in the world today. His bestselling books The Power of Now and A New Earth aim to help readers find freedom by living their lives in the present moment, instead of dwelling on the past or fretting about the future. The New York Times has described him as “the most popular spiritual author in the United States”, and in 2011, Watkins Review named him “the most spiritually influential person in the world”. Eckhart’s teachings focus on the significance and power of Presence, a more awakened state of consciousness which can help us transcend our egos and reduce negative thinking. Eckhart sees this inner awakening as the essential next step in human evolution. This event was originally in February of 2012. How to Harness The Power of Now: Book Insight on The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle
Book Insights Podcast
* By focusing on the present moment as our route to consciousness we can free ourselves from the stress, fear and anxiety that are created by our mind. * Suffering is identification with Mind. Our analytical mind has created a false ‘self’ – the ego – which we must jettison in order to find enlightenment. * When we surrender to the power of the present moment, the now, we are at one with Being and openness. * We can connect with joy and our true selves, unfettered by binary constructs such as ‘past’ and ‘future’. Eckhart Tolle's work had a significant impact on the speed and depth of my understanding of how to be in the present moment. As a mindfulness coach, for all students who complete the course, I will always recommend that they read the Power of now to deepen their understanding and learning of the benefits of mindfulness. Jonathan is a great friend of mine, mindfulness practitioner and another person I suggest to read Eckhart's book. This was life changing to Jonathan as it has been for many people and this episode focusses on what we both love about Tolle and how his work impacted us.
