HEY CHICAGO! This week on Da Podcast we speak with Maxx McGathey who is a Chicagoan born and bred pianist, songwriter, composer, and leader of the amazing band, "Gramps the Vamp." Self-described as a "post-apocalyptic dance party with ghoulish undertones and funk," Maxx has been running Gramps the Vamp for nine years and they have been a staple in the Chicagoland band scene.  We talk with Maxx about the music industry today, specifically about the art of creating music versus the celebrity status that comes about in many genres of music and what it takes to be able to continue perfecting your art. The C60 crew speaks with Maxx about what it is like running and leading a band and what it takes to make a band successful in 2020. Ron shares some insights about the music industry from the perspective of hip-hop and rap and discusses with Maxx the similarities and differences between genres and what it takes to be an a music artist.  All of these topics and of course we end every episode with the Jagoff of Da Week!
