We often remember and react more strongly to negatives rather than positives.
Part of this is because our minds tend to revisit more dramatic and traumatic events more than positive memories, which means we believe they're much more numerous and frequent than they actually are.

As well as, positive things often also happen over much longer periods of times in comparison to negatives. It takes years to build a skyscraper, but only hours to pull it down in a terrorist attack.
