Quote

"A person's success in life can usually be measured by the number of uncomfortable conversations he or she is willing to have, mostly with themselves"

Ideas

1

Being self compassionate doesn't mean you lose your drive to striving for the best you can be.
We often think that we have to be hyper critical of ourselves in order to have an edge over others when it comes to competing and achieving success.

But realizing that life requires a balance, and that sometimes less is more, means that giving yourself some space and compassion, can actually lead to better outcomes than spending all your time and energy beating yourself up about how you can get better.

2

Not my circus, not my monkeys. Someone else's lack of preparation is not your emergency.
If we let our to-do list be filled with other people's priorities, we will have a life completely dictated by other people's goals.

We have to write our own stories, prioritize our own goals, otherwise we'll simply become a part of someone else's.

3

The default assumption should be to always assume that we're misunderstood.
Just think about how difficult it is to even properly understand yourself.

Once you realise that you're always likely going to be misunderstood in some capacity, it removes the pressure to try and always be understood.
