Quote

"Every person we've met will eventually lose everything in this world. Knowing this, why would we want to be anything but kind to others when we can?"

Ideas

1

Too much of us spend too much time in the company of our own resentful & hateful inner self.
In any of those moments where we've made an error or embarassed ourselves, we shouldn't take the moments themselves too seriously.

We want to extract the actionable learnings from those moments, in order to do better in the future, but not more in terms of beating ourselves up.

2

The beauty about Jiu Jitsu is that there's an undeniable difference between those that know what they're doing, and those that don't.
In the world of Jiu Jitsu, when you're in a submission, you have to tap out.

Unlike Jiu Jitsu though, in things such as the the discussion of certain topics, even when someone is wrong, or in a metaphorical submission, there's no penalty for not admitting they are wrong, they aren't tapping out and, it's not always incredibly obvious that they are wrong.

3

You can't actually become happy, you can only be happy.
We're constantly stepping over the present moment for the future, without realising that the better future we seek, comes in the form of the present moment.

Unless you have a mind that can really pay attention and be present in the moment, you won't be able to enjoy the moments the way that you thought you would enjoy them, when they arrive.

Questions

1

Can you think of a situation where you took the moment too seriously as opposed to just extracting the learnings from that moment?
