After some excruciating lessons Jerremy Newsome came back stronger, with more discipline and strict trading rules. Hear his remarkable high-octane energy story. Louise Bedford tells you how your trading plan will catch you when you jump. JERREMY NEWSOME FORREST GUMP inspired Jerremy’s first investment into the markets. Remember when Lieutenant Dan bought Forrest Gump some shares in a fruit company? You know the one…. APPLE. Well Forrest wasn’t the only one to buy them. A young Jerremy asked his Dad to purchase some for himself as well and he has been in the market ever since. After an excruciating start to his option career where he lost all of his father’s retirement money Jerremy shut himself inside studying the dynamics of the markets and created strict trading rules for himself. Once he knew he could follow a trading plan he attacked the market like a WOLVERINE. Hands down the hardest thing to do trading for Jerremy is WAITING and DOING NOTHING. He has to let his control freak slide and prove there are consequences to breaking his trading rules. Jerremy also knows his DEMONS. He has honed his psychology to become a great loser and knows the traits which can slip him up. Get the low down on the Brisbane property market and what is ahead for the Sunshine State with Brett Warren. Chris Tate also looks at when the first helmet appeared in cricket and how this reflects on male traders and Louise Bedford discusses the power of unreasonable friends in your life. A Little Trading Chris Tate Did you know… the first groin guard in cricket appeared in the 1870’s but the first helmet appeared 100 years later. Chris looks at how that reflects on male traders and which personalities more likely than others to succeed in the markets. MINDPOWER Louise Bedford We all need unreasonable friends in our life. People who tell us to grow, to better ourselves, who support our SUCCESS and prod us into our POTENTIAL. You are the average of the 5 people closest to you in life and you need friends who support you to fulfil your dreams. Brett Warren With the Federal election set for May and Bill Shorten’s proposal of changes to negative gearing we take a look at the Brisbane property market. In Brisbane the median price of a unit is approximately $300 000 and the median price range for a house is roughly $550 000 and while it might have Sydney and Melbourne dwellers salivating the Brisbane market has not moved much over the past decade. The GFC, floods, the mining down turn have affected employment and people moving to the Sunshine State. However, the medium to long term picture is a different story. Over 12 football fields of infrastructure are planned in the CBD, a second runway at the airport is due to open in 2020 and 4 of the biggest hospitals are expanding. The next property cycle is looking interesting for Sunshine State buyers. Successful traders fall in love with the charts, the markets and everything about it. They methodically back test, they have a morning trading routine, they build a habit. Hear some of the craziest theories about the stock market Cam has heard including the one where the world is ruled by The Empire (yes just like in Star Wars), as well as the funniest psychology hack Cam has come across. Rank #6: Trading System Confidence
Check if your trading system is ticking all the right boxes with Adrian Reid from Enlightened Stock Trading and Louise Bedford tells her 'TA DA' moment and why the best traders yell 'TA DA' with their arms in the air. Mindpower - Louise bedford Every good trader has a 'TA DA' moment. The markets burnish your RESILIENCE. The heap of piranha bites from the bulls and bears can erode your confidence and self esteem. But best traders pick themselves up dust themselves off and yell 'TA DA' with their arms in the air. Adrian Reid The ONE thing you can do to boost your results is SYSTEMATIC TRADING. It sidesteps the ups and downs of human emotions and removes yourself from the equation. But a systematic trader has to be honest. A good systematic trader is accountable for the results of their system as well as analysing and measuring their performance. A trading system that is vague and nebulous will simply not cut the mustard. Adrian goes through setting up and documenting your trading system rules; executing them as expected; what to look for when you are back testing; data collection, the problem of curve fitting and the importance of having stability of an edge. Hear the systematic magic he recommends for traders and Louise Bedford looks at the difference between passion and purpose and why it matters to reach your trading goals. Louise Bedford Mindpower Here is some fascinating research by Moreton Hanson who conducted a study on more than 5000 people to discern the difference between the passion and purpose. But it didn’t take long for self-sabotage to kick in and soon he ran his account down to nearly zero. In this interview we discuss: * The importance of resonating with the frequency of your ideal golf swing * How creating your ideal reality is a combination of both the mental and emotional. * How the QUEST golfers go through to get to where they want to go has nothing to do with golf. * The importance of choosing experts for expert advice. * How Andrew describes golf as artistry on land. Rank #10: Royal Banking Commission
The Australian Banking system has had a serious shake-up and in this episode hear how it affects you and where it leaves the Australian economy. Louise Bedford shares on how to say just the right thing to offer your fellow trader’s support. Louise Bedford – Mindpower You know that TV show 'Billions'? Louise loves it and she draws inspiration from it to demonstrate how to encourage and support a fellow trader with carefully used phrases. Hear how to say just the right thing to offer your fellow trader’s support. Jonathan Barratt The Royal Banking Commission’s final report was made public. 76 recommendations were made involving sweeping changes to banking laws in the financial industry. The report aims to make way for a more transparent industry where the transfer of wealth from banks to consumers is fairer. Some of the shake-ups include: MORTGAGE BROKING MORTGAGE BROKING was by far the hardest hit industry. The Outcome: Mortgage brokers now need to act in the client best interests. Biggest changes are: * Borrowers not the lender should pay the broker fee for home loans. * Trailing commissions on the loan are to be abolished. * Mortgage Brokers to be regulated by the law that applies to financial advisors. SUPERANNUATION The biggest changes: * One default super account per person. Workers would be ‘stapled’ to an account like a Medicare number. * No deductions of advice fees from MySuper accounts. * No hawking or pressure selling of superannuation products. REGULATION * Establish an oversight body for APRA and ASIC to assess the effectiveness of each regulator. EFFECT ON HOUSING MARKET All this regulation so far has caused a softening of the market. As liquidity has tightened and banks have a lot of risk at lower levels in interest rates will this continue?
