Rank #1: The Book That Made Sugar Freedom Possible.
Let's face it. The low carb/high fat approach is still not politically correct. Eliminating added sugar is getting lots of support in the media these days from films like Fed Up, and books like Fat Chance by Dr. Robert Lustig. The truth is, I didn't just eliminate sugar in order to lose more than 65 pounds, and keep it off (with a 6 month period of re-gain which I will describe on today's show) for six years and counting. I also completely eliminated grains, I ate more fat, and most shocking of all, I occaisionally practiced intermittent fasting. I was truly afraid to tell anyone how I had lost all my weight, let alone write publicly about it. Then, I saw Dr. David Perlmutter on the Dr. Oz Show. He was talking about his book, Grain Brain. I bought the book, read it, and followed Dr. Perlmutter's dietary approach in order to get back to my happy weight. The most important conviction I gained from Grain Brain was that I never ever had to eat grains again. Finally, I had the courage to write my story, and share my own approach to sugar and grain free living. If you've decided to let grains go for good, I hope you'll listen today, and read Grain Brain, by Dr. David Perlmutter

Rank #3: How To Stop, And Recover From, A Binge
I order to become seriously overweight, I had to engage in some serious overeating. Bread, sweets, and chips were my downfall, and even when they stopped providing me with any real enjoyment I couldn't stop until the bags and cartons were empty. Even though I've been at a healthy weight for more than seven years now, I can still be caught off guard, and end up consumed by sugary, starchy, salty, snacks. In this episode of The Sugar Freedom Show I descroibe how I get off of the sugar train, and I hope that my story can help you if you ever find yourself in the middle of a bout of serious, unwanted overeating. In addition, I share the foods that help me recover from the terrible junk food hangover I always get as a result of eating my trigger foods. My entire eating program, which helped me manage my food addiction and get to a healthy weight, is available at www.sugarfreedom.com. If my Fairy Good-Sister came to me and said, "I will give you the body you need to fulfill your life purpose, guaranteed, but you can only eat 30 grams of carbohydrate per day for the rest of your life," do you know what I would say? "I'll do it." I am so passionate about training, coaching, dancing, sininging, and choreogrphy that I would not hesitate to give up sugary starchy foods for the rest of my life. Still, I keep trying to add back more fruit and some grains, and reducing the fat in my eating plans in order to make them less extreme, more mainstream, and easier to offer to a broader audience. What I have had to accept is the fact that what is popular isn't what works for me, and it doesn't work well for my readers and listeners who struggle with sugar compulion, insulin resistance, and carbohydrate intolerance. Since the start of 2017 I have been tinkering with my nutrition, and it has backfired. Thankfully, I am back on the Keto-cart and feeling so much better. Here is what I have learned, and I hope this episode helps you to find the eating plan that works for you, for life.
