In this episode, Sam lays the foundation for his argument that the church is broken because God never intended for it to be or become what it is. In the Gospels, Jesus only uses the word “church” in two places because the church was not His focus, His mission, or His commission. Nor is it ours. Today we are NOT called to be churchgoers, church planters, or church builders; we are called to become Kingdom Warriors to enter the spiritual battle that is raging around us, fighting to bring the light.

In this episode, Sam explains how Christians have been misled by the synonymous use of the terms Scripture and “Word,” which has resulted in great misunderstanding, mishandling, and misuse of the Bible. In John 5:39 Jesus rebuked the religious people of His time for this same approach to the Bible saying “you search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; it is these (Scriptures) that testify about Me, and you are unwilling to come to Me that you may have life.”

In this episode, Sam refers to recent headlines regarding the sexual corruption and abuse of men who are leaders in the church, and the systemic problem that this highlights. Using the story of Samuel at the end of his ministry in the Old Testament, he points out that Christians who choose to follow a man are no different than the Children of Israel who rejected God by demanding a king that they could follow. Just as our head operates our entire physical body, there can be only one Head of the Church.

In this episode, Sam tells the story of Abraham and the pinnacle test of faith that he passed through in offering his son Isaac. Being put to such an unimaginable test caused Abraham to trust in God in a way that, for most, is hard to comprehend. Where in your life is the Voice commanding you to take a step of faith? Have you been obedient to the Voice, or have you taken matters into your own hands, not trusting that God will provide?

In this episode, Sam contends that the Apostle Paul got it wrong by establishing churches – that he went beyond the bounds of what Jesus commissioned him to do in his conversion. Blasphemous as this may sound, Sam asks the listener to consider that Paul was a man, not a deity who never made a mistake and that the New Testament is primarily descriptive regarding church and churches, not prescriptive.

In this episode, Sam recalls a Sunday School lesson when he was a boy that caused him to vow in his heart that he would be pure. This vow would ultimately shape his younger years and lead to him becoming self-righteous and judgemental toward everyone. Sam warns that every system has laws and that the system of the church has created a culture of law-keepers no different from the Pharisees of Jesus’ time.

In this episode, Sam continues to challenge religion and the organized church. With James using his status as the flesh brother of Jesus, he emerges as the self-appointed leader in Jerusalem. Paul, of his own volition, establishes elders in the cities he preached in. And once established, this hierarchy became the means by which the Law was instated and imposed on believers. And thus, the framework of the structure, the system of the church, was born.

In this episode, Sam tells his story of living with “blinders on,” and how that led to him burning out or burning down every area of his life. One of the biggest lies he told himself - that most men are conditioned by society to believe - is that it was not ok to feel his feelings, that he needed to suck it up. This lie caused him to suppress and this suppression drove him to sedate. It was not until finding the Warrior’s Way that he began to uncork decades of emotional constipation.

In this episode, Sam shares some honest insight on how protecting the church has become more important than caring for its people. As an organization, the church is driven to preserve, maintain, and propagate itself, and as a result, church leaders are often driven to be less concerned about the people they are called to shepherd and more concerned about carrying on the traditions of the system.
