Rank #1: DAVID GOGGINS | Master Your Mind and Defy the Odds.
The mind is a powerful thing. It can be used as a tremendous source of good or a tremendous source of destruction in your life. The way you choose to train and use it could, quite literally, be the only thing keeping you from accomplishing your greatest ambitions. Today, I am joined by former Navy SEAL, ultrarunner, endurance athlete, wildland firefighter, and all-around badass, David Goggins. We talk about starring down adversity, using challenges as the fuel to propel yourself forward, the sacrifices you'll need to make to be successful, race issues and political correctness in America, and how you can master your mind and defy the odds. DAVID GOGGINS The man I have the privilege of introducing you to today, David Goggins, truly needs to no introduction. Suffice it to say, David is one of the most insane human beings on the planet and someone I have respected and extremely inspired by over the past couple of years. We've all watched his videos and most of us have read or listened to his latest book but having the opportunity to sit down face to face with him only increased my level of respect for what David has gone through, the odds he's overcome, and the incredible work he's been able to accomplish despite those odds being stacked against him. Gentlemen, set this one on repeat as David and I have one of the most powerful conversations I've ever been part of. Rank #1: Wake Up Warrior with Garrett J. White.
Brace yourself. This show is going to be like a punch in the face, but it's a punch in the face that we men need. We are born warriors with big dreams for our lives, but many of us are getting beat down and overwhelmed. We suffer silently and alone, with no idea how or if we can break out to become the man we want to be. In this explicit episode, I talk to Garrett J. White. He is the founder of Wake Up Warrior and Warrior Week. He is also the author of the upcoming Warrior Book. With his stripped-down, brutal delivery, Garrett tells us how to get past the lies we tell ourselves to break free from the person we used to be so that we can get out of our own way and finally step into our own greatness. Rank #2: How to Become a Master Lover with Intimacy Coach Elisa Popescu.
Warning: Dads, this episode is explicit. Make sure you’re not with the kids while listening. Today, we are going to talk about how to become a Master Lover. After we get married and have kids, we step into the role of dad. Our wives go into mothering mode, and we lose the all-consuming passion that we felt in the beginning of the relationship. 50% of couples are dissatisfied with their sex lives. 2/3 of couples feel they don’t have sex often enough. Why is it so hard to keep the excitement and attraction going? Elisa Popescu is an Intimacy and Relationship coach and the creator of The Master Lover Program. She is going to tell us the 5 Core Needs of a Woman and how we can use them to ignite our wives’ sexual energy. She also identifies the 5 Core Needs of Men and how being aware of them will help us take the lead and get back to that primal bedroom experience we crave. Don’t miss this hot show that will revolutionize the sex lives of both husbands and wives! Rank #2: Episode 135: The Illegitimate Son-of-a-Smith.
Denied his father's true last name for most of his life, James reclaimed it--in a monumental way.
Tim Ferriss is a self-experimenter and bestselling author, best known for The 4-Hour Workweek, which has been translated into 40+ languages. Newsweek calls him "the world's best human guinea pig," and The New York Times calls him "a cross between Jack Welch and a Buddhist monk." In this show, he deconstructs world-class performers from eclectic areas (investing, chess, pro sports, etc.), digging deep to find the tools, tactics, and tricks that listeners can use.
Rank #1: #210: Becoming the Best Version of You.
This is a special episode of The Tim Ferriss Show. The audio is from a live conversation with not one, not two, but three guests: Josh Waitzkin, Ramit Sethi, and Adam Robinson. Josh Waitzkin is an endlessly fascinating person who gets mentioned a lot on this show for good reason. For the uninitiated, Josh was the basis for the book and movie Searching for Bobby Fischer. He's perfected the techniques that made him into a chess prodigy and a jiu-jitsu black belt, and he shared them in his book The Art of Learning. Ramit Sethi (@ramit) is a personal finance guru who has built a huge company from his blog. He's the best-selling author of I Will Teach You to be Rich. Adam Robinson is the trusted outside global macro advisor to the heads of some of the world's largest hedge funds and family offices. He's written a best-seller on test preparation, developed artificial intelligence text analysis, been recognized as a chess master, and he's hilarious. I hope you enjoy this special edition of the podcast. Show notes and links for this episode can be found at www.fourhourworkweek.com/podcast. This podcast is brought to you by Four Sigmatic. I reached out to these Finnish entrepreneurs after a very talented acrobat introduced me to one of their products, which blew my mind (in the best way possible). I do not get any jitters, acid reflux, or any type of stomach burn. It put me on fire for an entire day, and I only had half of the packet. Rank #2: #124: Jamie Foxx on Workout Routines, Success Habits, and Untold Hollywood Stories.
This episode is one of my favorite I've ever done. Jamie Foxx (@iamjamiefoxx) is an Academy Award-winning actor, a Grammy Award-winning musician, and a famous standup and improv comedian. He is, without a doubt, the most consummate performer and entertainer I have ever met. In the 2.5 hours we spent together in his home studio, he blew my mind. We cover a TON in this wide-ranging episode, including many never-before-heard stories. Here's just a tiny sample of what you'll hear: Jamie's workout routine Jamie's origin story -- how he used $400 to match a $1,000,000 party thrown by Puff Daddy; building up his network with Kanye, Jay Z, and Pharrell; expanding his fan base; and bombing horribly at the beginning. What he learned during the magic of In Living Color Jamie playing live music throughout our interview. Impersonations (and lessons learned from many of the following) -- Quincy Jones, Ed Sheeran, Ray Charles, Jimmy Carter, Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan, Bill Cosby, Doc Rivers, Kermit the Frog, Sammy Davis, Jr., LeBron James, Bill Clinton, Tamara Rawitt, Shawn Wayans, Jim Carrey, Oprah Winfrey, Norman Lear, Mike Tyson, and others. The key skills Jamie learned from his grandmother. Jamie's parenting style. And much, much more... In "Hardcore History" journalist and broadcaster Dan Carlin takes his "Martian", unorthodox way of thinking and applies it to the past. Was Alexander the Great as bad a person as Adolf Hitler? What would Apaches with modern weapons be like? Will our modern civilization ever fall like civilizations from past eras? This isn't academic history (and Carlin isn't a historian) but the podcast's unique blend of high drama, masterful narration and Twilight Zone-style twists has entertained millions of listeners.
Rank #1: Show 60 - The Celtic Holocaust.
Julius Caesar is our travel guide as he takes us through his murderous subjugation of the native Celtic tribal peoples of ancient Gaul. It sounds vaguely like other, recent European colonial conquests...until the natives nearly win.

Often relegated to the role of slavish cannon fodder for Sparta's spears, the Achaemenid Persian empire had a glorious heritage. Under a single king they created the greatest empire the world had ever seen.

I have been a part of a lot of great podcasts. I have learned so much from my guests and their experiences. That said, I am confident that this interview with Dr. Joe Dispenza just might have the biggest impact. Bestselling author of my favorite books You Are the Placebo and Becoming Supernatural, Dr. Joe Dispenza scientifically breaks down the literal impact our mindset has on our biology and energetic fingerprint. Dispenza has the data, and can deconstruct the mystical in such a rational and scientific way that it makes it hard to remain a skeptic. Rank #1: Dr. Satchin Panda on Practical Implementation of Time-Restricted Eating & Shift Work Strategies.
This is a nearly 2-hour round 2 episode with none other than Dr. Satchin Panda of the Salk Institute! At nearly two hours of dialog, this episode touches on a lot of material but has a special focus on practical implementation of time-restricted eating. Put another way, I kept a list of a lot of questions that seem to keep coming up and present them directly to Satchin. We talk about dealing with shift work, black coffee when fasting, and some of the distinctions between Satchin's approach to time-restricted eating which is influenced by his deep background in circadian biology and more conventional protocols like 16:8 that many people are familiar with. In addition to these important and very practical how-to tidbits, we dive into lots of interesting new territory as well, including... How human anecdote and animal evidence suggests time-restricted feeding may be especially useful for gut-related issues, including inflammatory bowel disease and acid reflux. The fascinating way Dr. Panda is using human anecdote from his trial to ask new scientific questions he wouldn't think to ask and then going back to animal data to figure it out and how this unique approach forms a sort of closed loop pattern: animal → human feedback → back to animal for mechanism. How labs doing caloric restriction research may have actually been reaping the benefits of time-restricted without realizing it as an incidental to their experimental design. The revelation that 70% of FDA drugs are subject to circadian effects and are either less effective or more effective at certain times of the day. The effect melatonin has on the pancreatic production of insulin and the insight this lends to why we should probably stop eating 3-4 hours before we go to bed. The bizarre way circadian rhythms affects everything from susceptibility to UV damage to recovery from surgery to cancer risk. Sign-up for Dr. Panda's mobile app study on time-restricted eating. Rank #2: Dominic D'Agostino, Ph.D. on Modified Atkins Diet, Ketosis, Supplemental Ketones and More.
This podcast is with Dr. Dominic D'Agostino, an assistant professor at the University of South Florida in Tampa and all around expert on ketosis. In this podcast we discuss... * Dom's efforts at teasing out the differences between induced nutritional ketosis (through a low carbohydrate, high fat diet) and ketosis from the dietary introduction of exogenous ketones, like beta-hydroxybutyrate, especially in the context of therapeutic and performance enhancing effects. * His work on formulating ketone esters. * The differences in tolerability between MCT (medium chain triglycerides) powders versus liquids, as well as the amount of supplemental MCT a person would need to consume in order to achieve mild ketosis without carbohydrate restriction. * The differences between different types of ketogenic diets. * The modified atkins diet which has been demonstrated to have similar efficacy to the classical ketogenic diet in the treatment of drug-resistant epilepsy and how it may be a slightly more practical option for achieving therapeutic nutritional ketosis. * The importance of making the correct carbohydrate choices, even and maybe especially in the context of a ketogenic diet, with a diverse variety of raw vegetables being the most favorable. * What keto adaptation is and what it means, at a physiological level, to be keto adapted and how this is distinguished from short periods of ketosis we experience in our day-to-day lives. * Some of Dom's ideas around cycling various dietary strategies as a way of promoting metabolic flexibility. * How ketones, when used as a source of energy, may result in a net reduction in the number of damaging reactive byproducts known as reactive oxygen species than what may be produced by other forms of energy metabolism while also producing more ATP from, proportionately, the same amount of oxygen. ... AND SO MUCH MORE. OH MY LORD THERE IS SO MUCH MORE. Enjoy!
