The one big secret you can learn from Sam Walton that helped him create the largest retail chain in the world. Why getting a fast “No!” is actually one of the best things that can happen to you. How to pull yourself back up when you get repeated kicks in the nuts… and everyone around you thinks your ideas suck! The real difference between “going big” and just “doing enough”. Jeff’s Website: JeffHoffman.com Follow Jeff on Twitter and LinkedIn. Thanks so much for listening! Transcript: Download Jaime Masters: Welcome to Eventual Millionaire. I am Jaime Masters, and you have no idea how excited I am to have Jeff Hoffman on the show. Now, Jeff has been a part of amazing companies like Priceline.com, uBid.com, most recently ColorJar.com, along with a huge bio of film producer and all this other stuff. And what I found so amazing when I met him personally, a few months ago, is he spoke on stage, captivated the audience, and then went out in the audience and talked to absolutely everyone, which is kind of unheard of for speakers. So, thank you so much for coming on. I know I’m talking to you like you’re not here, but I really appreciate you coming on the show. Thanks so much for coming on today. Jeff Hoffman: You bet. Thank you for having me. Jaime Masters: It’s rare, unfortunately, to see speakers actually sitting in the audience. And then also – you had a crowd around you, and you took the time to actually be with everyone, whereas all the other speakers were bouncing around, and flying on planes, and not going to anything. So, why do you do that? Jeff Hoffman: It’s two reasons. Thank you for even noticing that. One of them is because that’s the commitment I made to giving back, by mentoring. So you can’t just – when you’re giving back, you don’t just do it when it’s easy and convenient. Right? You do what you have to do when the opportunity presents itself. But the other way – the other reason – honestly, is that that’s how I learned, as well. You don’t learn something by standing on stage then immediately hopping in a limo to the airport and going home. You learn something by interacting with people and finding out – like the conversations you and I had there in Austin. Finding out what people are focused on, worried about, learning about. So, it helps me build my knowledge base and it helps me keep my commitment to trying to give back. Jaime Masters: So, you don’t feel like you know everything? Or, I mean, know – I’m saying this facetiously, right, but you’ve probably, I’m sure, done this over, and over, and over, and asked people questions, and mentored people. You don’t feel like you sort of know already what’s going on? Jeff Hoffman: Well, no, because there’s always something new. For example, not that many years ago, we would have never predicted that we would use our phone for everything but phone calls. Right?

If you haven’t read his books yet, you must. But it’s one thing to read a great productivity system, and it’s very different to implement it and sustain those tactics in your everyday life. In this episode I grill David to find out how to make daily overwhelm disappear, and how to organize everything in business and life. (and keep it organized!!) You don’t want to miss this! Here is a quick visual of the GTD workflow so you can understand how to implement pieces into your life today. David’s Website: Davidco.com You can follow David on Twitter Thanks so much for listening! Transcript: Jaime: Have you ever felt overwhelmed? Have you ever said “I wish I had enough time,” or “I don’t have enough time for that?” That’s something that entrepreneurs say over and over and over again. Today’s episode I feature the godfather of productivity, David Allen, from the book Getting Things Done. Now if you haven’t heard of it yet, you need to go out and get it, or watch this episode because he does a whole recap on exactly what that is. He doesn’t think you should have anything, anything in your head. No to-do’s, no remembering the milk, no, none of that stuff. All of it should be out in a system that you can trust. Now I’ve learned all about Getting Things Done, and I thought it was really difficult to implement at first until I did this interview with him. Listen in because he sort of scolds me on exactly what I should be doing, and it’s helped tremendously. I did this interview a few weeks ago, and I just wanted to do the intro after I had done a few weeks of it. Let me just say it has really changed all of my productivity. Thank you so much, David Allen, from me, and I hope you enjoy listening to it. David is a riot. Take care. Jaime: Welcome to Eventual Millionaire. I’m Jaime Tardy, and I’m really excited today to have David Allen. He wrote the amazing book called Getting Things Done. I’m sure you’ve heard of it before. If you haven’t, you might have been living under a rock. We like to call him the godfather of productivity. I’m so excited he said yes to come on the show today. Thanks so much for coming on, David. David: Sure thing, Jaime. I’m happy to be here. Jaime: So just so you know the people that are listening to this either want to be entrepreneurs or are entrepreneurs. What I would love to know because you’ve been doing this for a very long time, do you have any tips, like one or two quick tips on what entrepreneurs can do to really get their schedule better? If you know, people that are entrepreneurs have a thousand ideas and not a lot of productivity habits that we stick with. So do you have any one or two things that we might be able to do? David: You know, overall, especially for people who are kind of running their own show and wearing a lot of different hats, it becomes particularly critical that you get the appropria...

He gives hardcore advice and tactics to get you more revenue, AND tells us how to know if we have a great business idea. His newest startup is WPEngine (my hosting company that I LOVE!) and he describes in detail how he knew that this would be a million dollar plus business before he started. Check out WPEngine.com for more info! He also has an amazing blog at ASmartBear.com Thanks so much for listening! Transcript: Jaime: I’m so lucky to have Jason Cohen on the show today. He is a serial entrepreneur who has started over four businesses that have all done revenue of over $1 million – way over on some of them – so he is the guy to listen to. Today he goes through, step-by-step, exactly how he recently created WP Engine, which is a hosting company that I use, and he has got it over $1 million already, even though it’s still a baby. He talks about how to validate your idea – what he went through, the step-by-step process that he went through to figure out whether it was a good idea or not. It’s not just people saying ‘Yes, that’s a good idea.’ That’s not it. He also talks about how to increase and double your revenue – he’s all about doubling. I hope you get a ton out of this interview – I know I did. Announcer: Welcome to the Eventual Millionaire podcast with your host, Jaime Tardy. Real talk and real advice from real millionaires, with a sharp focus on you – the eventual millionaire. Jaime: Welcome to Eventual Millionaire. I’m Jaime Tardy and today on the show we have Jaosn Cohen. Jason is super cool,I met him in Austin, Texas, and he is the founder of WP Engine which I actually just switched over to, about two or three weeks ago, for my hosting company. So far I love them, they’ve been wonderful – which is what he wants he hear! HE doesn’t want to hear me say they suck! One of the things that I’ve found really interesting about his background is that he’s started over four companies, all with over $1 million in revenue, all profitable, which is also huge, and he hasa ton of experience, so I’m super excited to have him on the show today. Thanks so much for coming on, Jason. Jason: Thanks for having me. Jaime: You have an incredible track record. The first thing I want to ask is did you always know you wanted to be an entrepreneur? Jason: I always knew that I needed to do things my own way and the really nice way to say that and hopefully make some money is to become an entrepreneur instead of just a disgruntled employee which, I have no doubt, I would have done if I hadn’t been lucky enough to find this path instead. Jaime: Fired over and over again, right? Jason: I think you’re either built to need to do your own thing and start your own company or not. Hopefully that can be channeled in a positive way and you’ll also be successful and stay on that path. Some people watch movies like the Facebook movie and say ‘That sounds fun, I want to do that,’ and they won’tsucceed because it’s not in their DNA. I think they just have it.
