Nature vs Narcissism is a true crime/comedy podcast based in Cincinnati, Ohio where Heather and her guests discuss true crimes and the narcissists who commit them. Sometimes we have alcohol and sometimes things get weird. In Season 1, we went down the alphabet focusing on different murderers and/or stupid criminals based on their name. For example; Episode 1 examines two notorious murderers whose names begin with the letter A. Season 2 we will go down the alphabet focusing on different serial killers/spree killers/murderers who were from or committed most of their crimes in cities/towns with each respective letter of the alphabet. For example, we may focus on someone from Cincinnati, Ohio for the letter C. Every episode is different and every episode is entertaining! We will delve into whether we think nature made the criminals commit these heinous acts, or if it's simply their narcissism getting the best of them. Keep in mind, this podcast is strictly for entertainment purposes and is in no way a professional diagnosis of the subjects discussed.

In the FINAL letter episode of Season 1, Heather and Rachelle discuss the Zebra Murders aka The Zebra Killings.  The best way to describe them is via a direct quote that we found here: https://blog.sfgate.com/crime/2013/03/13/zebra-killer-denied-parole/.  The Zebra Killings were “execution-style shootings that killed 14 people and wounded eight others between October 1973 and April 1974, mostly at night along the city’s Divisadero Street corridor. The gunmen were African American and the victims were mostly white. The killings got the Zebra label from police use of a special radio band, the Z channel, in their investigation.” (pulled quote from *PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS (like most others) A GRUESOME CASE WHICH INVOLVES TRIGGER WARNINGS* Although we are wrapping up Season 1, that doesn’t mean that we are done!  We will have several guests appearing on the show between Season 1 and Season 2.  Season 2 will still be alphabetical BUT we will be covering killers (not necessarily serial killers) from everywhere.  We will choose them based on where they’re from.  For instance, the Zebra Killings took place in San Fransisco, California so we would cover them for our “S” episode.  If YOU have a suggestion, send it to us!  We want to cover lesser known killers this season! Podcast cover
Read more
In this episode, Heather is joined by the one and only Nicki Tee of the Strictly Homicide Podcast! In this episode, we discuss a serial killer with the same last name as Heather BUT we swear that there is absolutely NO relation!

Heather and Nicki discuss the Suffolk Strangler also known as the Ipswich Strangler, Steven Gerald James Wright.  His crimes (that he was convicted of) occurred between October 30 and December 9, 2006.. Steven was convicted of murdering 5 women in the Ipswich District of Sullfolk, England in February of 2009. It was announced on 19 March 2008, that Wright was to appeal his convictions, but on 2 February 2009, it was announced that Wright had decided to drop this appeal case. Steven targeted women sex workers, and although he admitted to having sexual intercourse with all five of them at some point prior to the murders, the victims did not appear to be sexually assaulted during the time of the murder. Stevens motive is still unknown, when questioned about this he seems to answer with “no Comment”. While its never been confirmed, some say that the return of his mother who abandoned her family for her lover 40 years prior, sparked his rage.

We are definitely interested in hearing your thoughts on this case, so please reach out via social media or email!

Episode 13 focuses on two mothers whom of which killed their children as well as others.  This is only part 1 of 2, so we covered Marie Noe and Belle Gunness.  Marie Noe killed 8 of her 10 children via suffocation per court documents.  Her other 2 children died as well, but these deaths were not ruled homicide.  This case is odd for many reasons, but the most intriguing part is the fact that she wasn’t convicted until she was about 70 years old.  Belle Gunness, on the other hand, was said to have killed upwards of 40 people, including her own children.  She even faked her own death when she set her barn on fire in order to collect insurance money.  She would place ads in the classifieds in order to lure her victims with the promise of her love and farm.  Her motive for all of the killings was to collect insurance money. In fact, he was so charming, that he was able to convince the FBI…the fucking FBI to release him from prison on December 18, 2002 so that he could become a PAID informant for them!  He was known as “Hannibal” or “Joe Snitch” and took the lives of at least 4 people…including his own uncle.  He is serving a sentence of 70 years after pleading guilty in 2009 to two counts of second degree murder; one for his uncle and another for Kaysi McLeod, Jennifer Marcum, and LeAnn Emry. Podcast cover
Read more
The Hololulu Strangler is responsible for the murders of 5 women between 1985 and 1986. He has yet to be caught. All victims were found with their hands bound behind their backs
sexually assaulted, strangled, but they varied in age and background (17-36 years old). His victims were Vicki Gail Purdy (25), Regina Sakamoto (17), Denise Hughes (21), Louise Medeiros (25), and Linda Pesce (36). Police thought for sure that they had their guy, but circumstantial evidence wasn't enough to hold him. This suspect ended up moving to California and died in 2005. None of these cases have ever been solved AND after some more digging/investigating for the production of a true crime show last year; there may have been at least one more victim from 1982. Additionally, the police may have had their killer, had DNA testing been an option in 1986.

In this episode, Heather and Rachelle travel to Dakota Country/Dakota Territory, WY; way back in 1868, to discuss a woman who may or may not have been the murderer of at least 22 men.  This case is different from previous episodes as we aren’t 100% sure whether or not the details are based on factual information. Even though we found a decent amount of information, there is debate about the accuracy of the events. If true though, this B**** was manipulative and had her daddy wrapped so far around her finger that he worked with her in robbing and disposing of the bodies.
