Rank #9: 5 Strategies to Avoid Power Struggles with Children

Podcast cover
Read more

Description

This is our monthly special episode where I co-host the show with another colleague. For now, I have a Mystery Seat for each month and I invite passionate coaches or parent educators to host the show with me. This should be fun.

For the monthly special episodes the show has a different format.

We have 4 segments.

Examples from Our Home

What’s Up with You? Answering listener parenting questions

Favorite Finds

----------------

In the first segment I tell a story that happens very commonly in many households. My daughter one morning before going to school stated that she didn’t have shoes. How did I answer? Did I avoid power struggles successfully, was I able to listen and validate? Listen to find out. The same day I received a call from a client who said that his son woke up and said, “I do not want to go to school…”

Sound familiar?

Laura has two daughters: a 2,5 year old one and a 5 year old one. She shares a sibling rivalry story.

For this month Laura Froyen, PhD takes the mystery seat.

About My Co-host

Questions we received this month:

  1. A mom is frustrated with food related issue. She has strong triggers around wasting food. How to handle a situation where a child (3.5) asks for a specific food, is given the food, and then doesn’t eat it?
  2. A single mom who works from home has a hard time managing her time and her toddler.

Rank #12: Healing From Trauma (Christina Louis)

Podcast cover
Read more

My guest for this episode is

Christina Louise, The Peaceful Parenting Mentor and World's #1 Freedom Coach offers a unique understanding of what you and your child are going through right now, because she WAS a challenging child and troubled teen herself! Because her parents didn’t understand how to manage their emotions without going into fight or flight mode, she wound up experiencing years of abuse and neglect, which resulted in self-loathing, anxiety, trouble with the law, and other serious issues including severe depression. But as an adult, she knew she had a CHOICE: She could blame her upbringing and continue suffering or she could take responsibility for ending the cycle of trauma and abuse. She embarked on an enlightening road of personal and family transformation which taught me THE KEY to making life so much easier. She condensed what took her two decades (and hundreds of thousands of dollars) to learn into Programs and Retreats that are designed to show you how to experience Peace, Purpose, and Prosperity in all areas of your life.

Today’s episode is an on air coaching call in which I help Eveline, a mom of 2 kids, an almost 13 year old daughter and a 10 year old son to find new ways of teaching her kids:

  • how to be more responsible,
  • to curb back talk,
  • teach respect while staying away from coercion and parental control

"When we control our children, we lose our influence."

She wants to be able to communicate more consciously and elicit willing cooperation. As well as, set boundaries without dishing out empty threats and punishments.

We also discuss the importance of making agreements with our kids, specifically screen time contracts, involving them in the process as much as possible, working with our kids, being on their side as oppose to being against them. And what’s the deal with consequences?

Rank #17: How to Find and Maintain Happiness No Matter What (Dr. Robert Puff)

Podcast cover
Read more

How to find happiness and maintain it is a central question.

Do you know that we have  what’s called a set point for happiness? According to Dr. Puff we can change that. We can raise our set point and what he calls become superenjoyers.

We can raise our set point of happiness. Happiness is a lot like our weight. You have to do things to maintain your healthy weight.

To begin to change our happiness begins with awareness. Dr. Puff shares four steps to creating happiness.

Here they are:

-you know nothing

-you start learning and gaining skills

-with time you re going to become competent

-you become a master

He compares learning to be happy to learning Japanese.

Regardless of your life experiences you can learn to be happy today. It’s a learned skill and you can cultivate it, just like learning a new language.

We also talk about parenting. He states that there are 3 ways we affect our children.

There are 3 ways we affect our children:

1. unconditional love

2. what we expose them to

3. what we model and this is the most important one

Rank #18: Let Go, Let Be & Let In: The Truths About The Journey of Conscious Parenting

Podcast cover
Read more

One mother's journey of raising herself through her daughter's essence. This powerful, authentic and enlightening conversation will move you.

In this episode: -we don’t have control -our children come to us to awaken us and “raise” us -conscious parenting is not easy -what Sandra brought into her parenting from her past -what are lessons she wants her daughter to learn from her -how doe she wants to be remembered by her daughter -much more...

About Sandra: After consciously leaving the corporate world in 2012 when her daughter turned one, Sandra Fazio began letting go of all she thought she needed “to do” and gave permission to the Universe to “let be” what was meant for her life.

Two years later, after enduring more challenges and anxiety in her new-found motherhood journey than she ever expected, Sandra was greatly inspired by Dr. Shefali Tsabary’s interview with Oprah on Super Soul Sunday on her book The Conscious Parent and knew this was the Universe’s message for Sandra to serve her life’s calling and purpose. Sandra found her daughter was “raising her” in ways she never thought possible and was about to experience her own re-birthing and metamorphosis into motherhood to meet and embrace her daughter’s essence for all she came into this life to be, serve and teach her.

Sandra is a Conscious Parent / Life Coach, Author and Founder of The Conscious Parent Blog and brings an authentic, open and honest heart to each connection in her life. Her offering is to expand and deepen the conversations around conscious parenting for all parents and parent-type figures, to raise our collective self-awareness and to make this world better for our children to live and lead and for generations to come.
