My Quantum Computer Wrote a Podcast #5 – “Teleportation – The Musical” – Quantum Computing / AI / Entertainment

In which Dr Dr Alexis Kirke sets a mathematical proof of quantum teleportation to music – EDM (Electronic Dance Music) to be precise. This is a form of entertainment the Dr Dr has wanted someone else to do for a while, but because no one has, he has stepped in to do it himself. A number of the musical riffs were written using his multi-agent quantum music algorithms on IBM 14 qubit hardware. Younger listeners please note: today’s episode has been brought to you by the letters “A” and “B”, and the word “Ket”. The musical proof is followed a brief explanation of how the quantum algorithms were used to create some of the electronic riffs, and how the error rates on the IBM Q 14 changed the musical features.

Please also note, that the coefficient labels, e.g. ‘a’, are not differentiated sonically from the state labels, e.g. ‘A’, so beware…

My Quantum Computer Wrote a Podcast #4 – “How Thanos Won the Endgame” – Quantum Computing / AI / Entertainment.

In this episode, Dr Dr Alexis Kirke demonstrates how Thanos won the Endgame in “Avengers: Endgame” using the Many Worlds interpretation of quantum computing (and Alexis’ interpretation of Dr Strange’s comments at the end of “Avengers: Infinity War”). Alexis runs a multiverse of 16384 universes on the IBM Q14 Melbourne quantum computer and shows why Thanos must have won. NOTE: THIS EPISODE CONTAINS SPOILERS.

Here’s what Wikipedia has to say about the Many Worlds interpretation:

“The many-worlds interpretation is an interpretation of quantum mechanics that asserts the objective reality of the universal wavefunction and denies the actuality of wavefunction collapse. The existence of the other worlds makes it possible to remove randomness and action at a distance from quantum theory and thus from all physics. Many-worlds implies that all possible alternate histories and futures are real, each representing an actual “world” (or “universe”). In layman’s terms, the hypothesis states there is a very large—perhaps infinite—number of universes, and everything that could possibly have happened in our past, but did not, has occurred in the past of some other universe or universes. The theory is also referred to as MWI, the relative state formulation, the Everett interpretation, the theory of the universal wavefunction, many-universes interpretation, multiverse theory or just many-worlds.

The original relative state formulation is due to Hugh Everett in 1957. Later, this formulation was popularized and renamed many-worlds by Bryce Seligman DeWitt in the 1960s and 1970s. The decoherence approaches to interpreting quantum theory have been further explored and developed, becoming quite popular. MWI is one of many multiverse hypotheses in physics and philosophy. It is currently considered a mainstream interpretation along with the other decoherence interpretations, collapse theories (including the historical Copenhagen interpretation), and hidden variable theories such as the Bohmian mechanics.”

My Quantum Computer Wrote a Podcast #3 – “Teleporting from Westeros: Livestream” – Quantum Computing / AI / Entertainment

“Teleporting from Westeros: Livestream” [Note: sound quality is lower for the “Teleporting from Westeros” episode as it is part of a live recorded musical performance.] My Quantum Computer Wrote a Podcast #3 (Quantum Computing / AI / Entertainment) is a special episode consisting of a live music recording of “Teleporting from Westeros” (first two movements) – a Quantum Computer Electronic music performance utilizing quantum teleportation and Grover’s algorithm on the IBM Q14 Melbourne. The composition is based on variations of the Game of Thrones main theme. It was the world’s first Live gate-based performance using hardware, and whose algorithms exhibit the quantum speed-up. Because it was recorded live it is lower sound quality than usual.

The performance happened on Thursday 2 May at 11am EST (4pm UK time) in front of an audience and streamed online. It used his MRIq hybrid quantum/classical multi-agent system on the Melbourne Q14 quantum computer. MRIq teleports a superposition of his playing and of a classical computer music algorithm, to a quantum agent that applies two Grovers to parts of the melody before it is observed and rendered in MIDI to accompany Alexis’ playing in real-time. The streaming page was: mixlr.com/alexiskirke/

The MRIq system will be published in a paper shortly. Alexis’ original Grover’s algorithm in music reference is: arxiv.org/abs/1902.04237

My Quantum Computer Wrote a Podcast #2 – “Quantum Pornography” – Quantum Computing / AI / Entertainment

In the episode “Quantum Pornography”, Dr Dr Alexis Kirke discusses the three levels of experiencing quantum computing: erotica, softcore and hardcore. All the while being interrupted by the IBM Q 14 Melbourne telling him to tell a joke.

Topics covered include: fake quantum spirituality; the true meaning of entanglement, superposition and Christmas; and the penetrating philosophical insight provided by the actual execution of quantum computer programmes.

My Quantum Computer Wrote a Podcast #1 – “Schrodinger’s Brexit“ – Quantum Computing / AI / Entertainment

A podcast hosted by Dr Dr Alexis Kirke, about the interface between quantum computing, AI and the entertainment business. In this episode – “Schrodinger’s Brexit” – Alexis allows the IBM Q 14 Melbourne quantum computer to control his conversation topics live on air. The quantum computer creates a superposition and then instructs Alexis to speak on one of four topics “Brexit Pro”, “Brexit Anti”, “Quantum Hype”, or “Quantum Truth”. Alexis’ computer also tells him how long to speak for. ERRATA: (a) Saying that a quantum computer can only run 4 algorithms is an over-simplification. It is more true to say that all quantum applications are built from combinations of a pretty small number of basic techniques. (b) The abbreviation “RSI” is used twice, and of course it should be “RSA”.
