I...LOVE...THIS...PODCAST!!,

As a female water resource engineer I haven’t had a mentor in my field who is like me. My bosses have all been male and rarely have I had a female colleague to look up to and aspire to be like. This podcast has encouraged me to be a better female engineer, to empower others, and to look at things from entirely new perspectives. More importantly it has inspired me to embrace my femininity where I otherwise would have tried to just “be one of the boys”. With its totally relatable hostess and guests, this podcast is helping me to navigate this crazy professional/motherhood life and pave the way for the next generation of engineers behind me.

I listen every week!

This podcast has changed my life! I know that sounds extreme but I've used the advice at work to help me create a better working relationship with my boss, advocated for a raise (and got it) last year, and I'm dedicated to listening every week so I can continue to grow. Lauren's style is straight to the point without being short/rude. I also love the mix of subjects- I never get bored or feel like this show doesn't realize that at the end of the day we bring our human selves to work. This is a podcast (and site) that is really doing the work to help all women. I'm grateful!

Meet Amanda Enayati, a stress expert, author, and cancer survivor. If you’ve ever looked at the headlines around stress and anxiety,  the message is very clear: Chronic stress is on the rise. But what about the research that tells us how we can manage our stress or even turn our anxiety into positive action? And is there a difference between professional stress and personal? With so many questions about the topic, I was eager to find a stress expert who could actually provide some answers.

Amanda’s path to becoming a stress expert is a combination of both personal and professional experiences, starting around age 10 when Amanda became a child refugee because of a revolution in Iran.  And later, when Amanda was also hit with a life-threatening cancer diagnosis. That’s when Amanda started to write and record a new narrative for herself. A narrative that eventually turned her into the nation’s premier stress columnist and expert, a published author, and even launched an entirely new career. On this episode, we’ll cover:

  1. How to stress better and lean into more of the good stress

  2. What we can learn from elite athletes and how they react to stress

  3. And how to develop a better sense of control that you can use in your career and life

Meet Laura Vanderkam, an author, productivity expert, and a woman disrupting time management skills. I first came across Laura’s work when Career Contessa published an article called “How You’re Wasting 50+ Hours a Week” and, as you can probably imagine, I was immediately taken by the article because it’s true— we all do share the same number of hours in a week—168 to be exact—but it does seem like some people machines that power through their to-do lists while others are just “too busy” all the time.  Why? I naturally when straight to the time management source with Laura, a seven-time author, TED speaker, a mother of four, and a woman who has analyzed the time diaries of 900+ people.

Podcast cover
Read more

Meet Caroline Turner, author, speaker, and a leadership consultant disrupting how both male and female leaders communicate. You’ve probably heard that men are from Mars and women are from Venus as a way to explain our communication differences but Caroline strongly disagrees with that. In fact, we’re about to disrupt all the traditional advice you’ve heard about masculine and feminine communication approaches—including the fact  that feminine does not equal “women,” and masculine does not equal “men.” No woman is exclusively feminine, no man exclusively masculine.

And if that’s true, what does it mean for communication approaches and, more importantly, for us as women? How does it impact us at work, in our lives, and how do we become “bi-lingual” in the two approaches? On this episode, you'll learn:

  • The ins-and-outs of feminine and masculine communication approaches

  • Caroline’s advice for women in leadership roles today and tomorrow

  • What you can do when the research isn’t enough to get your male colleague’s buy-in
