Refreshed the show for me!

I’ve been a long time steadfast fan of the show, but only recently discovered this podcast. It has been so fun to listen to the podcast from the beginning while rewatching the series (for the like 20th time). I like how much they love the show, but aren’t afraid to discuss what they DONT like from the episodes each week. It has also made me revisit the idea of reading the actual comics, appreciating the differences between the show. Their voices are great and the convo hits a great stride between focusing on the dead content and also letting us really get to know the podcasters behind the show! Thanks for making this show hit a new level for me! Love you guys!!

Rank #1: 364: Charlie Adlard and the End of The Walking Dead Comic

Podcast cover
Read more

AMC's The Walking Dead, and also this podcast, owe their existence to the Walking Dead comic, and so the sudden ending of that comic about a month ago marks a huge moment for all of us WD fans. Join Lucy, Derek, and me as we mark the occasion by talking to the one and only Charlie Adlard, illustrator of The Walking Dead comic! As illustrator, Charlie has been a crucial and enormous factor in how The Walking Dead turned out (both the comic and the show).

We talk with Charlie about:

  • His thoughts about the plot of the final issue and how things ended for all the characters.
  • Inking the final issue himself.
  • How he feels now that it’s over.
  • Keeping the fact that the book was ending a surprise, and doing fake preview covers to help with that.
  • Who was hardest and easiest to draw aged up in the final issue.
  • Whether he’s ever thought about going back and redrawing the first six issues.
  • Whether he’ll do more Walking Dead comics.
  • What's next for Charlie.
  • Plus a lot more.

Look for Charlie's next comic, Vampire State Building, in comic shops in the US on Sep 18 (and available in France now). https://www.previewsworld.com/Catalog/JUL191360

Our third annual Comic-Con and WD trailer extravaganza, and damn there was a ton of stuff that came out of Comic Con this year, a lot of it really interesting. Maybe this year I finally picked some things to talk about that'll end up being good.... Anyway, join me, Rima, and Shawn as we talk about the TWD/FTWD trailers, news, and all the pop-culture goodness that we're excited about.

Cnet did a great thing and put all the trailers that came out of Comic-Con on a single web page here. Highly recommend checking it out! https://www.cnet.com/news/every-comic-con-san-diego-2019-trailer-scary-stories-to-tell-in-the-dark-picard-the-witcher-rick-and-morty-cats-top-gun-it-2/

Two special guests today, as longtime listener, first time co-host Gracie Lou joins me to interview the talented Lauren Cohan, a.k.a. Maggie Greene. Lauren talks about why Maggie has been so hot and cold with Glenn, what she likes most about doing The Walking Dead, what it takes for a zombie to scare her, and a lot more. And best of all she gave us a particularly unique, rather animalistic zombie sound. Rather pterodactyl-like, I’d say…. :)Note: We talked with Lauren about upcoming story lines in the comic a bit, and so there are one or two potential spoilers. They’re just small ones, but if you’re completely spoiler-averse, you may want to skip this one (but then again as we’ve seen thus far, just because something happens in the comic doesn’t mean it will happen on the show). And by the way, if you like what we’re doing, we especially appreciate getting reviews (or even just ratings) and subscriptions in iTunes. It’s easy, and even better, free. Here’s how:
1. Find our iTunes page here and then click “View in iTunes” (or just search for us in iTunes).
2. In iTunes, click “Subscribe Free.”
3. Scroll down and click “Write a Review,” and then leave us an honest rating or review. We love hearing from you guys, so if you’d like to give us a call, you can call us at (650) 485-DEAD, or you can email us at brains@walkingdeadcast.com.

All that and a ton of great email and calls from you guys, many of whom wrote in for the first time. Thanks all, we appreciate each and every one of you.

Catch us in a few weeks when our good friend Lissy joins us to review the final eight episodes of Breaking Bad (and rewatch 'em along with us in the meantime). And we'll do a couple more episodes in January and then be back for the second half of TWD S4 in early Feb.

Happy holidays everybody. Peace.
