In November of 1983, a mother and her three children were found “hacked to death” in their Bloomington, Illinois family home. The prime suspect was the husband and father of the victims, David Hendricks. The prosecution would have you believe that David’s religion and desire to pursue other women were motives for the murders. The defense argued that the murders occurred as part of a robbery committed by an intruder, whose bloody footprint was found inside the home. After two trials, a final verdict was reached …and not everyone agrees that justice was served. MURDERISH now has a Patreon page! At 5:24 am on Sunday, May 22, 2016, a 9-9-9 operator responded to a call from someone reporting a person who wasn’t breathing.  The caller told the 9-9-9 operator that her daughter’s partner had collapsed.  When emergency medical personnel reached the home, they found Lyndsey Vaux unresponsive and not breathing.  Lyndsey Vaux died not long after the 9-9-9 call.  Investigators could have never been prepared for the information they would learn about the events leading up to Lyndsey’s death.  Lyndsey’s story involves domestic violence and coercive control in their most extreme forms.  Listener discretion is strongly advised.

This is a very special episode featuring none other than True Crime Legend, Josh Mankiewicz of Dateline NBC. My good friend, Kari Martin of White Wine True Crime podcast, and I got together with Manks and recorded this episode. We talked about murder, relationships, Dateline episodes, Scott Peterson, childhood …and Eminem even came up during our convo. At the end of the episode, you’re going to hear a little ditty that Kari and I wrote and performed for Josh. Once this episode airs, any dignity and self-respect Kari and I had will have been flushed down the toilet. But I have to say, it was welllllll worth it. MURDERISH now has a Patreon page! A series of three calls came into Walker County 9-1-1 the afternoon of October 3, 2016. The caller said a man shot himself and they needed an ambulance. A woman can be heard wailing and screaming in the background …she’s hysterical. An officer arrives on scene shortly after the third call was finished, and an investigation ensued. However, according to the victim’s family, a bungled investigation, misinformation in official reports, lying witnesses and the fact that all witnesses, and the victim, were drug users …led to an incorrect determination of the manner of death. The victim’s family strongly believes a killer is free and no justice has been served in this case. Join me as I tell the story of Donald Edward Fickey, Jr (“DJ”). MURDERISH now has a Patreon page!
