Rank #1: 8. Eccentric Empresses
Queen Victoria's reign lasted just shy of 65 years and during this time her health and her people were, if not obedient, at least able to be maintained. Other ruling ladies were not so fortunate. While these Empresses were not celebrated by any gold or diamond jubilees, we humbly offer them one of Lithium. Erin's Empress, Elisabeth of Bavaria (Sisi) suffered from a poor constitution and severe ennui, only finding relief when she was as far from the throne and her husband as possible. Oddly, but not all that surprising given the very narrow arboretum containing the royal family tree, Jon's chosen princess is a sister in law to Sisi, despite her empire being all the way in Mexico. Jon commiserates with the Empress Carlotta, who certainly would have, had she could have.

Rank #3: 18. Victorian Goop
We’ve all fallen prey to bad advice offered by attractive yet unreliable sources. Episode 18 of Lithium Jubilee takes a look at some of the Victorian health fads that would not seem out of place on GOOP or any other cultish/lifestyle website devoid of any medical or scientific evidence. Erin explains the dangers of Mercury, a toxic cure-all and Jon weaves us through the laborious, lethal lady’s beauty regimen. Remember, you can’t spell “Hindsight” without “sigh”!

Rank #6: 51. Feud
Our latest episode is a return to form for a couple of reasons. A) We’re back to our “classic” format, and B) Ryan Murphy is dictating our lives. This time we’re drawing inspiration from Feud! We get into the iconic Southern rivalry between the Hatfields & McCoys and lay the groundwork for the acting rivalry between Sarah Bernhardt and Eleanora Duse!

Rank #8: 28. Hot Drunk Presidents
Lithium Jubilee’s 28th episode deliberates on the aesthetic attributes of our past commanders in chief. Erin’s pick is handsome sad sack Franklin Pierce, who will only be remembered (if at all) for his looks, tragic personal life and turning the simmer of racial divide into a civil war. Jon reflects on Ulysses S. Grant’s hearty constitution, steely eyes and well maintained facial hair. Bring us your handsome, your drunk, your presidential, we won’t kick them out of our Oval Office.

Like the Halloween film franchise, the third entry in our Feud series features none of the characters from the first two. This week we discuss the jewel encrusted drama of Les Grandes Horizontales and a Confederate rivalry that may have cost the South the war.

Today’s episode is not entirely saint-based as the title suggests, but it celebrates two of the most devastating natural events the world has known: volcanic eruptions and unmarried women.
