Weekly conversations about our world and the imagination it takes to live well in it. We wander in poetry and the arts, philosophy, science, psychology and religion, and elsewhere. "The end of childhood is when things cease to astonish us" and no matter our age, we can regain the "beginner's mind" we had as children.

Hidden Treasures

Tom Cheetham is a gateway drug, the gateway drug to a world of profound thoughts about the imagination, ambiguities, uncertainties, things barely glimpsed out of the corner of the eye. This is not a straight path Tom walks. The trail is circuitous, the cadence is strange, the rhythms alluring and confounding. Winding pathways for all of us imaginative beings. There is treasure here, nuggets of silver and gold, rare elements and precious stones. Once through is not enough. Tom has been inviting us along on his voyage of discovery for over three years, it's still moving forward? Upward? This voyage bears repeated listenings, you miss important stuff the first time around: that chunk of black coal has been compressed into a sparking diamond since your last visit. Go back to the beginning and voyage with a more experienced ear. The world turned upside down. Cheers Tom.

Always illuminating

As a great appreciator of James Hillman's work, I really dig this weekly podcast. It's main theme is the imagination, so Hillman is only one of the threads Mr. Cheetham weaves in now and again. The other of course being Henri Corbin, about whom Cheetham has written several books. Oh, and Jung, too. And many more, whomever Cheetham is reading of late. A good, contemplative podcast that relieves the monotony of traffic (I listen in my car).
