This is my podcast where I, Audrey Lee, a self-proclaimed niche music enthusiast, talk about my favorite bands that have primarily male fanbases. In each episode, I discuss one musical artist that, multitudes of men, and presumably some girls enjoy. I’ll talk about the artist’s history and analyze their music; I’ll also draw on my personal stories about the artist and feminist readings of and takes on music to create a discussion about why women and girls are pushed on the outer fringes of niche, elitist music fandom.

Welcome to the first episode of Pretty Punk! No better way to kick off a podcast with "punk" in the title than to discuss a band that was birthed from the end of punk: Radiohead. In this episode, Audrey Lee discusses Radiohead's history, discography, and popularity. She asks: why is Radiohead seen as alienated, even though they're one of the biggest rock bands in the world? How does Radiohead's affiliation with indie rock contribute to this? What does it mean to be a woman in indie rock and the indie rock scene? Most importantly, how can we normalize women's interest in predominantly male spaces, such as rock music scenes that involve bands like Radiohead?

In this introduction to "Pretty Punk," writer, college student, radio DJ, and host Audrey Lee discusses what "Pretty Punk" is going to cover: one band, every week, from a feminist woman's point of view. We'll get into the details of band history, discography, musical analysis, and more, to answer the question: why are girls and women pushed to the outer fringes of niche music fandoms?
