NCN on Plundercast - Yankinem ('Weird Al' vs. Eminem)

NSFW Program originally webcast on June 26th, 2011 on WE Slack Radio, Plundercast and DFM out of Amsterdam. This week's show is a mix of mash-ups, songs, remixes, dubstep versions, collages and general variations of music by Eminem mixed with various (mostly) nerdcore pieces by 'Weird Al' Yankovic poking fun at rap music and keeping it more real than the original songs. Lots of material referring to the idea that Eminem is gay (somehow) and material from the new 'Weird Al' album 'Alpocalypse' (recommended!) as well as Yankovic 'interviewing' Eminem. 128kbps LAME encoded, 180 min. with credits read at end.

NCN on Plundercast - Shock Treatment

This is a special 4-hour mix that was made during the height of the debt ceiling crisis in Washington in the Summer of 2011 during the presidency of Barack Obama. It explores the notion of the 'Shock Doctrine' put forth by Naomi Klein in her book by that name and using material made from the documentary based on the book. This is interwoven and augmented by the Adam Curtis documentary 'The Living Dead' about the use of shock treatment in the CIA's involvement with the development of modern-day psychiatry in the late 50's and early 60's. Other pieces, throughout are by NCN, as well as songs by Bob Dylan, Blancmange, Bob Seger, Michael Jackson, George Carlin, Neil Young, Buffalo Springfield, Coldplay, Radiodread, and others throughout. 128kbps LAME encoded mp3. 240 min. NCN, BCO and Univac - It's Game Time! (Narco Remix)

Recorded on 8.31.11, and broadcast live on DFM, this is originally a 2-hour show all about games. Phinny has done post-production work on it, boiling it down to just under 80 min. The original mix is available, check the link list in the listing associated with this podcast on the NCN site. This was part of UBRadio Salon which is heard on DFM out of Amsterdam each Wednesday at 4pm U.S. Pacific Time. We utilized a number of computers playing (mostly) video game samples and sound effects of games being played (there was a live UNREAL game going on at the time) game show theme music, and of course UNIVAC's 'Adventures in Science' for which he read from a 1981 book about video games. This show was great fun to do and I hope at least as much fun to listen to. The synthesized voices are live text-to-voice contributions via the DFM chatroom at the time.

NCN - The Monkees Variations Remix Project

Webcast on March 10th, 2019: This is a special, heartfelt, genre-bending 3-hour tribute consisting mainly of covers, mash-ups, version medleys and remixes of songs and music (both obscure and popular) by The Monkees. Like many SubGeniuses, we grew up with The Monkees and remember their bohemian, anarchic and absurdist spirit on display in their TV show, and we had most of their albums, enjoying them throughout the years. This program was put together the week after Peter Tork's death. It utilizes and expands a great deal on some mixed material we presented years ago when Davy Jones passed away. This feels done. Making and webcasting this mix was a very emotional process and we hope the passion and interest we had in creating it carries through in the tone and scope of the 3-hour program.

NCN - The Sci-Fi in Hi-Fi Special (with Puzzling Evidence)

A program title (and sound) that is sure to send Harlan Ellison spinning in his crypt. The audio Doktors of the Air explore the bounds of Science Fiction, Fantasy, Star Wars, Star Trek and all manner of mixes, remixes and collages in between. If you can slog through the first Blade Runner rain-soaked 17 minutes, you'll experience a quite rewarding listen drawing to an intense Twilight Zone conclusion in the last 17 minutes of the program. NCN - Totally Inappropriate Songs for a Funeral

This is a totally re-worked version of a long-since pulled 2013 concept show which just didn't feel complete at the time. NOW it is! And more on-topic than ever before. After our musical appetizer which opens this show (a 10+ min. version medley of many different 'Istanbul (Not Constantinople)' song versions) we launch into various and many, many inappropriate funeral song clips. These are inter-cut throughout with large post-produced chunks of Phineas Narco's appearance on KPFA's 'The Puzzling Evidence Show' on June 7th, 2013 with special guest DJ, Justin Credible and regulars Doug Wellman (Puzzling Evidence) and Subgenius Church co-founder Philo Drummond. They talk about suicide, Subgenius, JFK, Burning Man, 'ghost milk', the day Puzzling Evidence saved Darth Vader's life, meeting William Shatner, Janor memories, and the then-upcoming 'X-Day 16' preparations. With work by Evolution Control Committee (as DJ Pantshead), Faroff, Heppycat, Marc Johnce, Halo, Voicedude, PLUS many others! Not to be missed with any regularity! ACTUAL SubGenius CONTENT!! - 3 hour mix.

NCN on Plundercast - The Devo Remix Remix Project

Webcast originally on February 12th, 2017--This is a collection of remixes of Devo songs, mostly culled from Soundcloud artists and then selected for the best ones. A trilogy-completing 'sister show' to NCN's 'The Devo Show' as well as our 'The No Devo Devo Show', this installment concentrates exclusively on remixes (though technically a cover or two might have slipped through). Enjoy this somewhat loopy all-remix version of the spudboys' work (with several versions of 'What We Do' as a running leitmotif throughout). Put together at the last minute, a day before showtime, as inspired by Stephen McQuillen, during a period that we tried to pry our brains away from Trump news in the first month of his presidency. This program seemed appropriately enough to be an obliquely relevant distraction for the time being. Playlist is in internal id3 tag of the mp3. - Over 2 hour show.
