Faina Vitebsky: Finding Peace through Psychedelics, Nature & Service

Today will be a special episode for me, because I have followed Geoff Thompson since I was a teenage martial artist in England, and I read his first best seller, "Watch My Back".   Geoff is a man who has lived many lives. In his earlier years he worked on some of the toughest “doors” in Coventry, as a Bouncer, sometimes literally fighting for his life to protect the innocent against the violent (four of his colleagues were murdered during this time).  He went in to become the prolific author of over 50 books, an award-winning film maker, a spiritual teacher, and has been a life-long martial artist. Geoff wrote two books solely about fear: both overcoming fear, and developing a strong mindset to face challenging situations. I remember reading these back when I was fighting in MMA to get my mind ready for combat, but his writings on overcoming fear are useful in almost any endeavor, especially the fear of being an entrepreneur with no steady paycheck. Geoff truly has empowered so many to face their fears, improve their personal safety, and lead more confident lives. And that is what martial arts is about. Leading better lives. Ray Flores is one of the hardest working people in combat sports today. He started his career in the seats of the Hammond Civic Center, doing play by play into a microphone for an MMA broadcast that would air a week later on public access TV. Fast forward to today Ray has been heavily involved with some of the biggest fights/spectacles of today: Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor, Ryan Garcia and Gevonte Davis in Las Vegas, or Jake Paul and Tommy Fury in Saudi Arabia. He does it all: play by play, analyst work, host weigh ins, and press conferences. Ray is a great example of what it takes to achieve success.  His mindset is second to none, and no matter what he accomplishes is never sits on his laurels. Ray maintains an incredible blue-collar work ethic, and is always trying to improve by relentless self-analysis. And along the way he remains a strong mentor to the next generation trying to follow in his footsteps. These principles apply to so much more than just broadcasting. They applies to any industry, any career and any dream. Christian Reynoso has always been the “Man in the Arena”; he spent over two decades in combat sports; was a multiple time amateur MMA champion, and later professional MMA fighter, all while having a career as a Derivatives Options Trader.  Recently, after a long and arduous 19 year journey, full of great highs as well as soul crushing injuries and surgeries, Christian received his jiujitsu black belt.
